背景技术
在广为人知的公知技术当中,数据存储装置是这种类型的磁盘驱动器:其中磁头滑块组件漂浮在旋转磁盘的表面处的空气轴承上。这种盘驱动器通常称作“温彻斯特”型驱动器。在这些驱动器中,一个或多个刚性磁盘连同一个或多个磁头滑块组件一起位于密封的腔室中。滑块组件可以定位在磁盘的一侧或两侧上。
一般来说,所谈到的这种类型的磁盘驱动器中的每个磁头滑块组件与一个臂或负载梁的外端相耦接。图1给出了典型的磁头臂(HAA)组件108的透视图。滑块102是以这样一种方式安装的:允许在悬架106的自由外端处万向(gimbaled)移动,以致能够在滑块组件102和磁盘表面之间建立和维持空气轴承。细长的悬架106与一适当的机构耦接,例如音圈马达(VCM)(未示),用于跨越盘的表面(未示)移动悬架106,以致包含在滑块102中的磁头能够对特定的同心数据轨迹进行寻址,以便将信息写入到所述数据轨迹或从中读取信息。
为了获得快速响应能力,过去将精力放在了减小HAA 108的重量(并因此减小惯性效应)上。实现这一目的的典型手段必须减小HAA 108的厚度110。为了防止HAA 108在装配工序期间的操作性弯曲(并因此防止低质跟踪)和/或非故意变形,利用了肋骨件112(例如在Kohso等人的美国专利No.5313353中)。肋骨件112减小了HAA 108朝向盘表面和远离盘表面弯曲的趋势。
这样设计108的问题包括设计复杂和制造困难。为了生产这种HAA基板108,必须进行许多复杂的切割和弯折工艺。这大大影响了质量控制以及生产成本。因此期望具有一种用于改进的磁头臂组件(HAA)的系统和方法,除了其它优点之外,所述系统和方法可避免上述问题。

具体实施例
图2表示根据本发明的实施方式的头臂组件(HAA)设计和组装。按照这种实施方式,HAA结构206包括挠性/负载梁组件202和单安装悬架臂204。悬架臂204由单独一块材料形成。按照一种实施方式,悬架臂由具有高杨氏模量(Y)与密度(D)比的材料制成,例如具有Y/D=110Mpsi/(1b/in3)(Y=11Mpsi(百万镑每平方英寸)和D=0.101b/in3(镑每立方英寸))的铝,或具有Y/D=106Mpsi/(1b/in3)(Y=17Mpsi和D=0.161b/in3)的钛。按照一种实施方式,悬架臂204由Y/D为至少100Mpsi/(1b/in3)的材料制成。
按照本发明的一种实施方式,悬架臂204具有至少0.7毫米(mm)的厚度214,并且按照一种实施方式,悬架臂204的厚度为0.8mm。另外,按照一种实施方式,所述厚度至少是HAA 206的长度211(旋转轴至磁头)的2.5%。例如,按照本发明的一种实施方式,具有28.5mm长度的HAA 206的2.5英寸硬盘驱动器(HDD)具有厚度214为至少0.7mm(长度的2.5%)的悬架臂。
按照一种实施方式,单安装悬架臂204与挠性/负载梁组件202相耦接以形成HAA 206。按照一种实施方式,所述耦接是通过对两个部件202、204的重叠部分208进行激光焊接来实现的。按照另外一种可选实施方式,利用了热固环氧树脂来耦接两个部件202、204。按照一种实施方式,利用对准孔210来精确地相互定位部件202、204。
图3给出了按照本发明的原理的单安装悬架臂302和挠性/负载梁组件304之间的耦接的剖面图。如上所述,按照一种实施方式,利用激光焊接306将两个部件302、304接合起来。按照一种实施方式,在若干个位置306上进行点焊(也见图2)。
虽然这里已经具体描述和说明了若干个实施例,但应该意识到在不脱离本发明的精神和预期范围的情况下,通过上面的教导并在后附权利要求的范围内,可对本发明做出各种修改和变形。

Claims (25)

1.一种用于磁头臂组件(HAA)的系统,包括:
负载梁部分,该部分经由焊接与悬架臂部分相耦接,以形成悬架组件;
所述悬架臂部分是杨氏模量(Y)与密度(D)的比为至少100Mpsi/(lb/in3)的金属;和
所述悬架臂部分的厚度至少为HAA从旋转轴至磁头的长度的2.5%。
2.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中所述负载梁部分经由激光焊接与所述悬架臂部分相耦接。
3.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中所述负载梁部分借助热固性环氧树脂与所述悬架臂部分相耦接。
4.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中所述负载梁部分是挠性/负载梁组件。
5.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中所述悬架臂部分是单安装悬架臂。
6.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中所述悬架臂部分具有110Mpsi/(lb/in3)的Y与D比。
7.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中所述悬架臂部分是铝。
8.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中所述悬架臂部分的厚度是HAA从旋转轴至磁头的长度的2.8%。
9.一种用于磁头臂组件(HAA)的方法,包括:
经由焊接将一负载梁部分与一悬架臂部分相耦接,以形成悬架组件,所述悬架臂部分具有至少为100Mpsi/(lb/in3)的杨氏模量(Y)与密度(D)的比和至少为HAA从旋转轴至磁头的长度的2.5%的厚度。
10.根据权利要求9所述的方法,其中所述将所述负载梁部分与所述悬架臂部分的所述耦接是借助激光焊接实现的。
11.根据权利要求9所述的方法,其中所述负载梁部分是挠性/负载梁组件。
12.根据权利要求9所述的方法,其中所述悬架臂部分是单安装悬架臂。
13.根据权利要求9所述的方法,其中所述悬架臂部分具有110Mpsi/(lb/in3)的Y与D的比。
14.根据权利要求9所述的方法,其中所述悬架臂部分是铝。
15.根据权利要求9所述的方法,其中所述悬架臂部分的厚度是HAA从旋转轴至磁头的长度的2.8%。
16.一种用于磁头臂组件(HAA)的系统,包括:
悬架臂部分,该部分经由焊接与一负载梁部分相耦接,以形成悬架组件;
所述悬架臂部分是杨氏模量(Y)与密度(D)的比为至少110Mpsi/(lb/in3)的金属;和
所述悬架臂部分的厚度至少为HAA从旋转轴至磁头的长度的2.5%。

18.根据权利要求16所述的系统,其中所述负载梁部分是挠性/负载梁组件。

挠性/负载梁组件,该组件经由激光焊接与一单安装悬架臂相耦接,以形成单安装悬架组件;
所述单安装悬架臂是铝;和
所述单安装悬架臂的厚度至少为HAA从旋转轴至磁头的长度的2.5%。
22.根据权利要求21所述的系统,其中所述单安装悬架臂的厚度是HAA从旋转轴至磁头的长度的2.8%。
23.一种用于磁头臂组件(HAA)的系统,包括:
挠性/负载梁组件,该组件经由激光焊接与一单安装悬架臂相耦接,以形成单安装悬架组件;
所述单安装悬架臂是杨氏模量(Y)与密度(D)的比为至少100Mpsi/(lb/in3)的金属;和
