Abstract

Description
技术领域
本发明涉及一种用于将电连接器安装在电缆上的工具。更具体地说,本发明涉及一种轴向压缩工具,其适用于具有各种不同连接器接口的电连接器。
背景技术
适于通过压配装进行装接的连接器已经有了诸多进展。如本发明那样,转让给伊利诺依州Orland Park的Andrew公司的、由Islam等于2003年2月20日申请的、题目为“轴向压缩电连接器”的美国专利申请No.10/708,278中描述了这种连接器的几个实施例。适于通过轴向压缩安装到电缆上的电连接器是可利用轴向压缩手动工具进行野外安装的。现有的轴向压缩工具一般包括一个杠杆装置,其驱动卡头朝向电连接器的连接器接口移动。电缆和电连接器通过由所述卡头驱动的止动件送进,以将个连接器部件轴向压装在一起,从而在连接器主体与电缆之间形成永久性的电连接。
现有技术的卡头适于在连接器接口的表面处与电连接器接合。所以,现有的工具专用于特定类型,如F类型的连接器,或者包括各种可替换的不同卡头,每一种卡头用于预期的连接器接口。这样就会遇到,维护各种不同连接器接口的特定工具以及或者因处理不同连接器接口而更换卡头,增加了工具安装需求和劳务成本。
如果在压装期间出现任何轴向偏移,卡头就可能损坏连接器接口的内部导体、密封以及/或者绝缘体组件。另外,压力可将内导体推入电缆并离开连接器。这也会造成不必要的劳务和成本来修理以及/或者更换电连接器和电缆组件的任何损坏的部件。
在电连接器工业内的竞争业已将注意力集中在设备和工具成本以及安装电连接器所需要的时间上。
发明内容
因此,本发明的目的是提供一种克服现有技术中的不足的设备。
为实现上述目的,本发明一个方面,提供了一种连接器轴向压缩工具,有杠杆端和电缆端,包括:一主体;一电缆夹,装设于在主体上形成的凹部的所述电缆端;一支座,可滑动地安装在所述凹部内,以支承一轴肩卡箍;一杠杆机构,联接于所述支座并可滑动地安装在所述主体上;以及一手柄,可枢转地连接于所述主体和所述杠杆机构,用以使所述支座轴向运动。
优选地,电缆夹可拆地安装。
优选地,电缆夹被偏压于一个闭合位置。
优选地,电缆夹利用弹簧被偏于闭合位置。
优选地,所述支座为具有敞开侧的盒形。
优选地,所述支座为U形支架。
优选地,所述支座可拆地装接于杠杆机构的电缆端。

根据本发明另一方面,提供了一种制造具有杠杆端和电缆端的轴向压缩工具的方法,包括如下步骤:形成一个主体;将电缆夹装接于形成在主体上的凹部的所述电缆端上;将支承一轴肩卡箍的支座可滑动地在凹部内;将杠杆机构连接于支座并将其可滑动地安装在主体上;及将手柄可枢转地装接于主体和杠杆机构上,用以使支座轴向运动。
根据本发明另一方面,提供了一种具有杠杆端和电缆端的连接器轴向压缩工具,包括:一主体;一电缆夹,其内直径小于连接器的电缆夹套直径并大于电缆的直径,装设于在主体上形成的凹部的电缆端;一支座,可滑动地安装在所述凹部内,以支承一轴肩卡箍;一杠杆机构,连接于支座并可滑动地安装在主体上;一手柄,可枢转地装接于主体和杠杆机构上,用以使支座轴向运动;一卡箍臂,可枢轴转动地装接于轴肩卡箍;一磁性接触件,适于使轴肩卡箍和卡箍臂保持在闭合位置;及位于主体上的安装孔,用于将压缩工具安装到预期表面上;所述支座适于支承连接器的连接器主体而不对连接器的连接器接口产生干扰。

具体实施方式
为了进行说明,图1-5示出了本发明的示例性实施例。如图1所示,主体10包括一个电缆端12和一个杠杆端14。主体10上朝向电缆端12,有一个适于配设可轴向移动的支座18的敞开的凹部16。
通过将支座18连接于例如如图2中所示的杠杆机构20而控制支座18的运动。杠杆机构20通过手柄轴24将手柄22连接到主体10上。手柄22绕手柄轴24的枢转运动通过例如推柄(push shank)28使支座18沿轴向运动,推柄28利用支承轴32于杠杆端14处连接在手柄22的一偏置区域。推力轴30将推柄28连接于推压机构26的杠杆端14。推柄28的电缆端12可以例如具有一个叉形臂34,用以配装推压机构26。推压机构26的电缆端12可以例如通过支座的支承螺母36和支座垫圈37或类似部件连接于支座18。支座18可拆卸地安装以实现不同类型支座18之间的互换性。
推压机构26可包括一个推杆38、一推压弹簧39、一个止动件40、一个推压螺母41和一个销栓42。推压机构26在工具的主体10上轴向滑动并由例如引导套筒44引导。引导套筒44使推压机构26与工具的纵轴滑动对正。推压弹簧39通过推靠所述引导套筒44的杠杆端14而将所述工具偏置于打开位置。在推压机构26的电缆端12,销栓42插入形成在支座18上的推压孔46内,并且例如通过支座支承螺母36和支座垫圈37固定就位。销栓42有助于防止支座18相对于推压机构26产生任何旋转运动。
适用于本发明的电连接器公开在例如美国专利申请No.10/708,278中。例如通过将电缆夹套48压配合到连接器主体50上而进行连接器与电缆51相互连接的轴向压缩,从而使电缆51的外导体连接于连接器主体50。在使用时,组装好准备压缩的电缆51和连接器对被放入支座18中,并使连接器主体50的压靠肩部56与轴肩卡箍54匹配接合,所述轴肩卡箍54通过例如多个轴肩卡箍螺钉57可拆地装接于支座18的电缆端12,例如图2和3所示。另外,轴肩卡箍可与支座18的电缆端12形成一体。为了更可靠地将连接器主体50的压靠肩部56保持在轴肩卡箍54上,卡箍臂58可通过例如一个枢轴60可旋转地装接于轴肩卡箍54。为使卡箍臂58保持在闭合位置,轴肩卡箍54的接触件62可包括磁性接触件或类似接触件。另外,也可采用机械式的扣钩、锁栓、销、弹簧、螺钉或夹子等。
如在示例性实施例中所示,支座18可以是盒形的且顶侧和电缆端12侧敞开。
另外,支座18可以形成为将推压机构26连接于轴肩卡箍54的任何结构,如U形支架或类似部件。所选用的支座18结构的杠杆端14与电缆端12之间的敞开空间为各种不同类型的连接器接口64提供了间隙,使得当连接器通过压靠肩部56安装时,由该工具施加的轴向压力被引向主体50而非连接器接口64。
在电缆夹套48压入连接器主体50期间,主体10的电缆端12起一个止动件的作用。在电缆端12处的电缆支承件66配设一个电缆夹68,例如图4所示。电缆夹68可动地装接于电缆支承件66。位于电缆支承件66的杠杆端14的电缆夹68可包括两个相对的、可转动的臂70。可转动臂70可绕一个共用轴70转动而分开或合拢。可转动臂70可通过一个或多个偏置弹簧73或类似部件偏置于闭合位置。另外,可采用磁性接触件、机械式扣钩、锁栓、销、弹簧、螺钉或夹子等。由可转动臂70处于闭合位置形成的电缆开口74足够大,以便接纳电缆51的外径,但它不能使电缆夹套48的大直径通过。电缆夹68允许电缆51经由其电缆开口74和电缆支承件66运动。在手柄22转动时,轴肩卡箍54和电缆夹68相向运动,以轴向挤压它们之间的连接件主体50和电缆夹套48。
通过更换轴肩卡箍54和电缆夹68组件,该工具可适用于连接于各种不同电缆51直径的连接器系列。另外,轴肩卡箍54和电缆夹68例如可分别滑入形成在支座18和凹部16的电缆端12上的槽中或扣入形成在支座18和凹部16的电缆端12上的其它类型的弹簧偏置的保持器内。在简化的实施例中,通过将轴肩卡箍54永久性地装接于或整体地形成于支座18,该工具可专用于单一直径的电缆51及连接器接口64。类似地,电缆夹68可与电缆支承件66制成一体。
主体10还可包括安装孔76,用于将该工具可拆地装接于预期表面,例如工作台上。例如图5所示。一个或多个安装孔76可位于凹部16内和/或主体10上,并形成沉孔,以避免干扰支座18的轴向运动。
根据上述内容,本领域的专业人员可理解到,本发明提供了一种单一的成本有效的工具,在不损坏连接器接口64和/或各连接器的内部机件的情况下,将具有各种不同连接器接口64的连接器轴向压接于电缆51。

1.一种连接器轴向压缩工具,具有杠杆端和电缆端,包括:
一主体;
一电缆夹,装设于在主体上形成的凹部的所述电缆端;
一支座,可滑动地安装在所述凹部内,以支承一轴肩卡箍;
一杠杆机构,联接于所述支座并可滑动地安装在所述主体上;以及

10.如权利要求1的工具,其中轴肩卡箍形成在支座的电缆端上。
11.如权利要求1的工具,其中还包括一个卡箍臂,可枢轴转动地装接于轴肩卡箍。
12.如权利要求11的工具,其中轴肩卡箍和卡箍臂利用磁性接触件保持在闭合位置。
13.如权利要求11的工具,其中轴肩卡箍和卡箍臂利用扣钩、锁栓、销、弹簧、螺钉及夹子中的一种保持在闭合位置上。
14.如权利要求1的工具,其中还包括一个位于主体上的安装孔,用于将压缩工具安装到预期表面上。
15.如权利要求1的工具,其中电缆夹适合抵靠连接器的电缆夹套的电缆端。
16.如权利要求1的工具,其中电缆夹形成一内直径,其小于连接器的电缆夹套直径并大于电缆直径。
17.如权利要求1的工具,其中轴肩卡箍适于卡住连接器的压靠肩部。
18.如权利要求1的工具,其中支座适于支承连接器的连接器主体而不对连接器的连接器接口产生干扰。
19.一种通过连接器主体上的压靠肩部将连接器轴向压靠于连接器的电缆夹套的方法,包括如下步骤:
将连接器主体的压靠肩部放置在压缩工具的可轴向移动的轴肩卡箍上;
使电缆夹套抵靠在压缩工具的电缆夹上;及
驱动压缩工具以沿轴向彼此相向地压靠所述轴肩卡箍和电缆夹。
20.一种制造具有杠杆端和电缆端的轴向压缩工具的方法,包括如下步骤:
形成一个主体;
将电缆夹装接于形成在主体上的凹部的所述电缆端上;
将支承一轴肩卡箍的支座可滑动地在凹部内;
将杠杆机构连接于支座并将其可滑动地安装在主体上;及
将手柄可枢转地装接于主体和杠杆机构上,用以使支座轴向运动。
21.一种具有杠杆端和电缆端的连接器轴向压缩工具,包括:
一主体;
一电缆夹,其内直径小于连接器的电缆夹套直径并大于电缆的直径,装设于在主体上形成的凹部的电缆端;
一支座,可滑动地安装在所述凹部内,以支承一轴肩卡箍;
一杠杆机构,连接于支座并可滑动地安装在主体上;
一手柄,可枢转地装接于主体和杠杆机构上,用以使支座轴向运动;
一卡箍臂,可枢轴转动地装接于轴肩卡箍;
一磁性接触件,适于使轴肩卡箍和卡箍臂保持在闭合位置;及
位于主体上的安装孔,用于将压缩工具安装到预期表面上;
所述支座适于支承连接器的连接器主体而不对连接器的连接器接口产生干扰。
