背景技术
静电喷枪为人所熟知,其中包括Graco Inc.公司以PROGUNTM商标销售的静电喷枪。这些喷枪利用自含式空气涡轮交流发电机组合以及倍增器来产生35kV以上的电压。
发明内容
在本发明中,带电电极被引入与标准静电喷枪相似的雾化位置或其附近。如美国专利5647543所描述的,接地电极被设置在与高压电极足够接近的位置,以便在带有10-20kV的电荷时产生非常高的场强并在高压电极的端部产生电晕放电区。
已经发现,这样的接地电极的最佳位置是在离气嘴的表面约1.5英寸的枪体侧面,并且采用约20kV的电压。当接地电极被置于靠近所述气嘴的任何位置(如在前述专利中示出的那样),转换效率和带电可以很高,但涂料会很快在接地电极上累积。这是因为,雾化过程在紧靠通常的喷涂罩外面产生大量的杂散颗粒,并且在进行带电时这些颗粒会被吸到靠近气嘴的任何接地。通过将接地电极沿着枪体向后移动一小段距离,它们距离杂散颗粒足够远,以保持清洁的操作。如果接地电极被向后移动过远,则需要更高的电压来在带电电极处产生必须的场强。
这样的喷枪比非静电喷枪改善了转换效率,并消除了对于其它低压静电结构来说常见的涂料累积。这样的低压枪比常规的较高电压的枪可制造得更小、更轻并且成本更低。与较高电压的喷涂方法相比,本发明在为雾化的颗粒提供电荷的同时,具有较少的引起其它物体带电增加到不安全水平的杂散离子。操作位置的较低场强意味着与常规的静电枪相比具有较低的电压感觉,并且有较少的涂料向后粘到操作者上,从而使操作者更舒适地操作。
在这样的结构下,接地电极的尺寸和位置并不重要,不会影响喷涂操作。因为接地路径不需要通过气嘴或气嘴环,因此结构比较简单。

具体实施方式
在图1中总体上以10表示的本发明包括传统的导电接地枪柄12,其前部连接到不导电的枪筒14。接地电极16被模制在枪筒14内,并具有从两侧延伸出的尖端16a。图1只示出一个这样的电极16,但在枪的另一侧具有一个这样的电极的镜像。在该优选实施例中,这样的电极延伸了约0.160英寸,并具有0.090英寸的直径。该电极延伸通过枪筒,以在安装位置与枪柄接触。如前所述,电极尖端16a位于雾化位置气嘴18后面约1.5英寸。
可以认为,在不脱离后附权利要求书确定的构思和范围情况下,可以对所述静电喷枪做出各种改变和改进。

Claims (3)

1.在一种静电喷枪中,具有导电接地枪柄和连接到枪柄上的不导电枪筒,在枪筒端部具有气嘴和带电电极,所述气嘴具有前端和后端,所述改进包括:至少一个接地电极从所述气嘴后面的所述枪筒向外延伸的。
2.如权利要求1所述的静电喷枪,其中所述接地电极设于所述气嘴前端的后面约1.5英寸。
3.如权利要求1所述的静电喷枪,包括至少两个接地电极,所述接地电极设于所述枪筒的相对侧。
