Abstract
本发明公开了一种通信系统,它包括:一个通信网络;各种可与此通信网络连接的通信终端,用户可使用这些终端通过此通信网络进行通信而不必与某一特定通信终端一致;用于监视一个用户是否连接到通信网络的装置,而与用户使用哪一通信终端无关;用于通知通过任一通信终端与通信网络正在连接的搜索用户关于符合搜索用户设定的被搜索用户条件的其他用户的网络连接状态信息,并为搜索用户提供关于那些当前连接到通信网络的被搜索用户的连接地址信息的装置。
Description
本发明涉及通信系统,特别是有关网络通信系统。
在通过通信终端连接到通信网络的用户之间建立一个点对点的连接一般要求每一个连接用户的网络地址对所有其他连接用户都是可知的。许多网络通信提供商,如Internet服务提供商(ISP)分配给用户一个不同的网络地址,如IP地址,用户每次连接到网络时都不可能预先知道某一特定用户的网络地址。
一些商业或非商业服务支持连接到网络的网络服务器。连接到网络的用户将他们的当前网址和其它识别信息提供给一个或更多的网络服务器,这一信息可被其他连接到网络想实现点对点通信等目的用户获知,此类服务包括:Internet网上聊天(IRC),其软件由Surfing Squrrelproductions Inc.商业性提供;微软用户定位服务(ULS),由微软公司商业性提供;自动寻呼分配系统(ACD),由Executone InformationSystems商业性提供。
一个想要定位另一个用户的用户可连接到一个记录用户信息的网络服务器以确定其他用户的网络地址。一个用户通常通过查找其他用户的电子邮件地址、其他用户经常使用的一个或多个昵称或其他识别信息定位另一个用户。但是这些识别信息的有效使用是有限的,因为单个用户可能拥有多个电子邮件地址,多个用户可能使用同一个昵称,或一个用户也可能通过另一个用户的网络连接而被连接。
遗憾的是,象以上提到的服务,通常不能对每一个用户提供唯一的识别以便准确定位某一特定用户。而且,这种服务还要求用户从成百上千个随时连接到网络且为一个服务器所知的用户中努力查找出其他用户。这种服务还不能使用户限定哪些用户可获知其识别信息。
本发明的目的在于提供一个改进的通信系统以便定位一个连接到通信网络的用户,更是为了建立点对点的通信。一个用户在通信网络上的位置典型地表示为用户的当前网络地址。
本发明的通信系统很好地提供了以下至少部分甚至全部优点:
a、准确定位用户,因为每个用户拥有一个永久唯一的识别码。
b、快速有效地定位,因为网络服务器自动地为当前连接到网络的用户从该用户想知道那些用户的连接状态的他们的预设名单中提供当前连接到网络的其他用户名单。
c、当搜索用户感兴趣的另一用户连接到网络时,自动通知该搜索用户。
d、用户可通过限定谁可以定位他们以保护其隐私。
需要指出的是,在整个说明书及权利要求书中,“用户”一词包括任一实体,更包括使用计算机或其它通信终端的人,尤其是想连接到网络并通过网络通信的人。需要进一步指出的是,“搜索用户”一词包括任何想要定位至少一个当前连接到通信网络的其他用户的用户,而“被搜索用户”一词包括其位置,典型地说其网址为搜索用户所欲知的任何用户。
因此,根据本发明的优选实施例,提供了一个通信系统,它包括:一个通信网络;各种可与此通信网络连接的通信终端,用户可使用这些终端通过通信网络进行通信而不必与某一特定终端一致;用于监视一个用户是否连接到通信网络的装置,而与用户使用哪一通信终端无关;用于通知一个通过任一通信终端与通信网络实时连接的搜索用户关于处于搜索用户设定的一个被搜索用户组的其他用户的网络连接状态信息并为搜索用户提供关于那些实时连接到通信网络的被搜索用户的连接地址信息的装置。
此外,根据本发明的优选实施例,任何用户可至少作为搜索用户或被搜索用户之一。
而且,根据本发明的优选实施例,任何用户可同时作为搜索用户和被搜索用户。
此外,根据本发明的优选实施例,网络连接状态信息包含一个被搜索用户实时连接该通信网络的指示信息。
而且,根据本发明的优选实施例,网络连接状态信息包含一个被搜索用户已实时连接到该通信网络指示的信息。
再者,根据本发明的优选实施例,网络连接状态信息包括一个搜索用户已从该通信网络实时断开的指示信息。
此外,根据本发明的优选实施例,至少一个用户拥有一个唯一识别码。
而且,根据本发明的优选实施例,唯一识别码独立于任何通信终端。
此外,根据本发明的优选实施例,至少一个服务器连接在通信网络上,而且用于监视的装置存在于至少一个服务器中。

图1是根据本发明的优选实施例建立并运行一个通信系统的简化图形示意图,其中一个用户通过一个通信终端连接到一个通信网络,而且用户的信息被提供给一个连接在该通信网络上的服务器。
图2是根据本发明的优选实施例建立并运行的一个通信系统的简化图形示意图,其中被搜索用户连接到图1的通信网络中,被搜索用户的识别信息被提供给图1的服务器,而且,图1的服务器将识别被搜索用户的信息传送给图1的用户。
图3是根据本发明的优选实施例建立并运行一个通信系统简化图形示意图。其中:图1的用户接收到图2中的被搜索用户的网络地址后直接与该被搜索用户进行通信。
参照图1,即根据本发明的优选实施例建立并运行的一个通信系统10的简化图形示意图。
通信系统10最好包括各种通信终端12,该终端可通过各种连接介质16连接到通信网络14,该介质可以是有线的或无线的。通信终端12适宜用来接收用户18的输入并显示,通过通信网络14发送信息到至少一个服务器20并接收来自服务20器的信息,服务器20也是通过连接介质16连接在通信网络14上。同样,服务器20也通过通信网络14发送并接收信息。
连接通知装置30典型存在通信终端12中,用来接收通信终端12的输入。当通信终端12连接到通信网络14时,通信终端12便向连接通知装置30发信号。连接通知装置30适宜通过通信网络14发送通知至连接监视器22,该监视器22典型地存在于服务器20中,用来通过通信网络14接收输入。地址提取器26典型存在服务器20中,用来确定由连接监视器22接收到的通知的源网络地址,地址提取器26与连接监视器22是有效连接的。地址提取器26将网络地址提供给典型存在于服务器20中的信息管理装置28,在这里该地址被保存下来。地址提取器26可选择地或附加地用来与通信终端12通信,且地址提取器26可选择地或附加地存在于通信终端12中,在这里,当一个与通信网络14的连接建立时该提取器用来确定连接终端12的网络地址,并将此网络地址提供给连接通知装置30。
典型存在于服务器20中的信号器24,用来接收信息管理装置28保存的信息并将信息发送到通信终端12。
通信系统10的典型操作参照图1、图2和图3详细描绘如下。
参照图1,显示用户18使用通信终端12通过连接介质16与通信网络14典型地说Internet建立一个连接。与通信网络14的连接典型地是通过出租线或拨号线到一个网络通信服务提供商,典型地说Internet服务提供商(ISP)。
至少一个服务器20通过连接介质16典型地不间断地连接到通信网络14上,也可以提供一个以上的服务器20,其中所有的服务器能同时不间断地保存并提供相同的信息。
一旦用户18连接到通信网络14,连接通知装置30便通知连接监视器22用户18与通信网络14已连接。这一通知最好包含为用户18预设的一个唯一识别码,且此识别码被信息管理装置28保存在连接用户名单中。该唯一识别码最好是独立于用户18所使用的通信终端12。最好该通知还包含该唯一识别码的用户授权密码,通知还可包括其他信息,如用户18的实时网络地址。
当用户18与通信终端12连接时,地址提取器26确定该用户的实时网络地址。地址提取器26用来从网络数据传输协议,如TCP/IP协议所使用的传输包中提取一个网络地址。于是,地址提取器26从连接通知装置30发送给连接监视器22的传输包中提取用户18的实时网络地址,然后将该地址提供给信息管理装置28,装置28便将该地址保存在连接用户名单中。
当地址提取器26如上所述典型地与信息管理装置28通信时,将实时网络地址提供给连接通知装置30,连接通知装置然后发送该网络地址到连接监视器22,该监视器将该地址提供给信息管理装置28,信息管理装置28便将地址保存在连接用户名单中。
通信终端12最好将用户18预设的被搜索用户名单提供给保存它的信息管理装置28。通信终端12还可将用户18关于是否请求明确授权准许将其相关信息透露给想获知其信息的搜索者的指令提供给信息管理装置28,信息管理装置28保存请求授权的用户名单。
信息管理装置28,根据在通信终端12处从用户18接收到的被搜索用户名单,检查已连接用户名单中任何实时连接到通信网络14的被搜索用户,并典型显示在终端上。如果发现了已连接的被搜索用户,信息管理装置28促使信号器24发送一个通知给在通信终端12处的用户18,其中该通知典型地包括实时连接到通信网络14和用户18正在搜索的所有用户的唯一识别码和网络地址。
根据技术领域中众所周知的网络通信协议,如TCP/IP协议,连接监视器22定时地登记通信终端12或确定通信终端12是否仍与通信网络14连接。而根据技术领域中众所周知的网络通信协议,如TCP/IP协议,连接通知装置30可选择地或附加地定时通知连接监视器22通信终端12仍与通信网络14连接。
参照图2,显示一个用户34以与图1中用户18所描述的同样的方式与通信网络14建立一个连接。一旦用户34连接到网络,信息管理装置28便检查被搜索用户名单以确定用户34是否被用户18搜索。如果是,信息管理装置28再检查连接用户名单以确定用户18仍在连接。如果用户18仍在连接,信息管理装置28促使信号器24发送一个通知给用户18,其中通知典型包含被搜索用户34的唯一识别码和实时网络地址及用户18提供的其他信息。信息管理装置28最好还检查被搜索用户的名单以确定用户18是否被用户34搜索,如果是,促使信号器24如上所述发送一个通知给用户34。
根据本发明的另一实施例,信息管理装置28检查想要授权的用户名单以确定用户34是否想要明确授权搜索者获知有关用户34的信息的请求。如果得到用户34的明确授权,信号器24便发送一个授权请求到授权装置36,授权装置36典型存在于通信终端12中。用户34授权或拒绝用户18关于用户34的定位或其他信息请求。授权装置36然后提供授权信息到信息管理装置28,信息管理装置28确定是否促使信号器发送一个通知给用户18。
参照图3,显示用户18使用参照图1和图2所述的信号器24提供的被搜索用户34的网络地址与被搜索用户34建立了一个点对点的连接。让人高兴的是,一旦用户18独立于本发明掌握了用户34的网络地址,用户18便可与用户34建立一个点对点的连接。
可喜的是本发明的任何软件部分,如果需要,可以ROM(只读存储)形式实施。一般地,如果需要,软件部分可使用传统技术以硬件来实施。
令人欣慰的是,为清楚起见而以分立的实施例来描述的本发明的各种特征同样能由单个实施例合并提供。反之,为简洁起见而以单个实施例来描述的本发明的多种特征亦能被分立地提供成以任何适当的组合来提供。
让技术娴熟的人高兴的是,本发明并不局限于上文的特定描述和显示。当然,本发明的范围仅由以下权利要求所限定:
Claims (25)
1、一个通信系统,包括:
一个通信网络;
各种可与上述通信网络连接的通信终端,用户可使用这些终端通过上述通信网络进行通信,其中,一个用户不必与一个给定终端一致;
用于监视一个用户是否连接到上述通信网络而不管用户使用上述各种通信终端的哪一个的装置;和
用于通知一个通过任何上述通信终端与上述通信网络实时连接的搜索用户关于处于搜索用户设定的一个被搜索用户组的其他用户的网络连接状态信息,并为上述搜索用户提供关于那些实时连接到所述通信网络的被搜索用户的连接地址信息的装置。
2、根据权利要求1所述的一个通信系统,其特征是任何上述用户可至少作为搜索用户或被搜索用户之一。
3、根据权利要求1所述的一个通信系统,其特征是任何上述用户可同时作为搜索用户和被搜索用户。
