Abstract

通信系统 
本申请是1997年9月30日提交的、申请号为97180359.5、名称为“通信系统”的分案申请。 
技术领域
本发明涉及通信系统，特别是有关网络通信系统。 
背景技术
在通过通信终端连接到通信网络的雇用之间建立一个点对点的连接一般要求每一个连接用户的网络地址对所有其他连接用户都是可知的。许多网络通信提供商。如Internet服务提供商(ISP’S)，分配给用户一个不同的网络地址，如IP地址，用户每次连接到网络时都不可能预先知道某一特定用户的网络地址。 
一些商业或非商业服务与连接到网络的网络服务器。上网的用户将他们的当前网址和其它识别信息提供给一个或更多的网络服务器，这一信息可被其他上网想实现点对点通信等目的用户获知，此类服务包括：Internet网上聊天(IRC)，其软件由Surfing Squrrrel proiluctions Inc.商业性提供；微软用户定位服务(ULS)，由微软公司商业性提供；自动寻呼分配系统(ACD)，由Executone Anformation System商业性提供。 
一个想要定位另一个用户的用户可连接到一个记录用户信息的网络服务器以确定其他用户的网络地址。一个用户通常通过查找其他用户的电子邮件地址、其他用户经常使用的一个或多个昵称或其他识别信息定位另一个用户。但是这些识别信息的有效使用是有限的，因为单个用户可能拥有多个电子邮件地址，多个用户可能使用同一个昵称，或一个用户也可能通过另一个用户的网络连接而被连接。 
遗憾的是，象以上提到的服务，通常不能对每一个用户提供唯一的识别以便准确定位某一特定用户。而且，这种服务还要求用户从成百上千个随 时上网且为一个服务器所知的用户中努力查找出其他用户。这种服务还不能使用户限定哪些用户可获知其识别信息。 
发明内容
本发明的目的在于提供一个改进的通信系统以便定位一个连接到通信网络的用户，更是为了建立点对点的通信。一个用户在通信网络上的位置典型地表示为用户的当前网络地址。 
本发明的通信系统很好地提供了以下至少部分甚至全部优点： 
a、准确定位用户，因为每个用户拥有一个永久唯一的识别码。 
b、快速有效地定位，因为网络服务器自动地为当前上网的用户从该用户想知道哪些用户的连接状态的他们的预设名单中提供当前上网的其他用户名单。 
c、当搜索用户感兴趣的另一用户上网时，自动通知该搜索用户。 
d、用户可通过限定谁可以定位他们以保护其隐私。 
需要指出的是，在整个说明书及权利要求书中，“用户”一词包括任一实体，更包括使用计算机或其它通信张端的人，尤其是想上网并通过网络通信的人。需要进一步指出的是，“搜索用户”一词包括任何想要定位至少一个当前连接到通信网络其他用户的用户，而“被搜索用户”一词包括其位置，典型地说其网址为搜索用户所欲知的任何用户。 
因此，根据本发明的优选实施例，提供了一个通信系统，它包括：一个通信网络；各种可与此通信网络连接的通信终端，用户可使用这些终端通过通信网络进行通信而不必与某一特定终端一致；用于监视一个用户是否连接到通信网络的装置，而与用户使用哪一通信终端无关；用于通知一个通过任一通信终端与通信网络实时连接的搜索用户关于处于搜索用户设定的一个被搜索用户组的其他用户的网络连接状态信息并为搜索用户提供关于那些实时连接到通信网络的被搜索用户的连接地址信息的装置。 
此外，根据本发明的优选实施例，任何用户可至少作为搜索用户或被搜索用户之一。 
而且，根据本发明的优选实施例，任何用户可同时作为搜索用户和被搜索用户。 
此外，根据本发明的优选实施例，网络连接状态信息包含一个被搜索用户实时连接该通信网络的指示信息。

具体实施方式
参照图1，即根据本发明的优选实施例建立并运行的一个通信系统10的简化图形示意图。 
通信系统10最好包括各种通信终端12，该终端可通过各种连接介质16连接到通信网络14，该介质可以是有线的或无线的。通信终端12适宜用来 接收用户18的输入并显示，通过通信网络14发送信息到至少一个服务器20并未接收来自服务20的信息，服务器20也是通过连接介质16连接在通信网络14上。同样，服务器20也通过通信网络14发送并接收信息。 
连接通知装置30典型存在通信终端12中，用来接收通信终端12的输入。当通信终端12连接到通信网络14时，通信终端12便向连接通知装置30发信号。连接通知装置30适宜通过通信网络14发送通知至连接监视器22，该监视器22典型地存在于服务器20中，用来通过通信网络接收输入。地址提取器26典型存在服务器20中，用来确定由连接监视器22接收到的通知的源网络地址，地址提取器26与连接监视器22是有效连接的。地址提取器26将网络地址提供给典型存在于服务器20中的信息管理装置28，在这里该地址被保存下来。地址提取器26可选择地或附加地用来与通信终端12通信，且地址提取器26可选择地或附加地存在于通信终端12中，在这里，当一个与通信网络14的连接建立时该提取器用来确定连接终端12的网络地址，并将此网络地址提供给连接通知装置30。

可喜的是本发明的任何软件部分，如果需要，可以ROM(只读存储)形式实施。一般地，如果需要，软件部分可使用传统技术以硬件来实施。

Claims (14)

1.一种通信系统，包括：
通信网络；
可与上述通信网络连接的多种通信终端，多个用户使用这些通信终端通过上述通信网络进行通信，其中所述多个用户中的一个给定用户不必与一给定通信终端一致；
监视器，用于监视所述多个用户中的一特定用户是否连接到上述通信网络而不管该特定用户使用上述多种通信终端中哪一个通信终端；
通知器，用于向通过上述多种通信终端中的任一通信终端当前连接到所述通信网络的所述多个用户中的至少一个搜索用户，通知与处于一组被搜索用户中的至少一个其他用户相关的网络连接状态信息，所述一组被搜索用户可由所述至少一个搜索用户定义；
授权请求管理器，当所述至少一个其他用户连接到所述通信网络时，向所述至少一个其他用户发送授权请求，从所述至少一个其他用户接收对所述授权请求的响应，以及在所述通知器提供与所述至少一个其他用户相关的所述网络连接状态信息之前，向所述通知器发送对所述授权请求的所述响应。
2.根据权利要求1所述的通信系统，其中，当所述至少一个其他用户连接到所述通信网络时，所述通知器还向所述至少一个搜索用户提供与所述至少一个其他用户相关的连接地址信息。

从所述多个用户中的至少一个搜索用户接收一组被搜索用户，所述一组被搜索用户可由所述至少一个搜索用户定义；
当所述一组被搜索用户中的至少一个用户连接到所述通信网络时，向所述一组被搜索用户中的所述至少一个用户发送授权请求；

13.一种指示与多个用户相关的网络连接信息的方法，包括：
维护所述多个用户中请求被要求授权的选择用户清单，然后向其他用户提供这些选择用户的网络状态连接信息；
监视所述多个用户中的一特定用户是否通过多种通信终端中的任一个通信终端连接到通信网络，而不管该特定用户使用上述多种通信终端中哪一个通信终端；
从所述多个用户中的至少一个搜索用户接收提供关于至少一个其他用户的信息的请求；
如果所述至少一个其他用户包括在所述选择用户清单中：
当至少一个其他用户连接到所述通信网络时，向所述至少一个其他用户发送授权请求；以及
从所述至少一个其他用户接收对所述授权请求的响应；以及
如果所述响应是积极响应：
向所述至少一个搜索用户通知与所述至少一个其他用户相关的网络连接状态信息；以及
如果所述至少一个其他用户不包括在所述选择用户清单中：
向所述至少一个搜索用户通知与所述至少一个其他用户相关的网络连接状态信息；以及
向所述至少一个搜索用户提供与所述至少一个其他用户相关的连接地址信息。
14.根据权利要求13所述的方法，其中如果所述响应是积极响应，该方法进一步包括向所述至少一个搜索用户提供与所述至少一个其他用户相关的连接地址信息。
