技术领域
本发明有关一种隐形眼镜的初级包装。更明确地讲,本发明有关一种比传统初级包装更可节省成本的初级包装。
背景技术
隐形眼镜、特别是一次性隐形眼镜,传统上是包装在一泡形罩包装内。泡形罩包装通常由两元件组成:底座与盖。此底座为由塑料注射成型,且通常具有用以容纳隐形眼镜碗或方凹槽的形状。此盖为一种层压材料,且通常由是铝箔层与聚丙烯薄膜形成的层压材料。每一泡形罩包装包含单一个隐形眼镜与足量的溶液以避免隐形眼镜干燥并保持隐形眼镜随时可用。该溶液通常是为一种缓冲水溶液。通常,泡形罩包装内溶液的量在0.8至5毫升之间,大部分是在1至3毫升之间。泡形罩包装包含足量的溶液是很重要的,使得在泡形罩包装的贮藏期限内,即使水份经由泡形罩包装流失时,溶液浓度的改变仍不致于恶劣地影响到隐形眼镜品质。所以,大部分泡形罩包装会放入较多量的溶液。然而,泡形罩包装需经运输与;因此使用较少材料以形成泡形罩包装以及在泡形罩包装内放置较少溶液是有利的。泡形罩包装设计所需考虑的因素包含:泡形罩包装在贮藏期限内必需将隐形眼镜保持在无菌环境下,且泡形罩包装需设计成能极其容易地取用放置其内的隐形眼镜。
本领域内需求一种不昂贵、符合上述需要的改进的泡形罩包装。
发明内容
本发明提供一种可容纳隐形眼镜与溶液的泡形罩包装,该泡形罩包装包含底座与盖,该底座包含凹槽,其中该凹槽与该盖限定可容纳该隐形眼镜和少于0.75毫升溶液的容积,且其中该凹槽的材料厚度小于0.75毫米。
本发明的泡形罩包装使用较少的底座材料与较少的溶液且出乎意料地仍能提供长于4年的贮藏期限。从使用较厚材料的泡形罩包装有关水份流失的的数据及在本领域中用来预测泡形罩包装的贮藏期限的传统公式来看,不能期望本发明的泡形罩包装会具有4年的贮藏期限。

具体实施方式
图1为本发明的泡形罩包装10的侧视图,图中示出该泡形罩包装的盖已朝部分地后撕开。图1中的部分横截面示出泡形罩包装10容纳一隐形眼镜17与溶液18。泡形罩包装10包含底座11与盖12。示出的底座11最好具有直径约为2厘米且内部深度约为0.5厘米的圆拱型凹槽13,及一个最好邻接凹槽13周界的凸缘14,凸缘14其一端延伸以便形成一个卷曲舌片,该卷曲舌片从离开该凹槽13处最好逐渐变小。该凸缘最好从该凹槽13凸伸少于4毫米,但,凸缘14的逐渐变小的卷曲舌片最好从凹槽13凸伸16.5毫米至17.5毫米之间。该凸缘14最好形成脊部19,该脊部为材料较厚的区域,该脊部19在该区域的厚度约为0.45毫米至0.65毫米,该区域则为在该凸缘的外部的若非全部区域则为大部分区域,而最好在该凸缘底部,以便提供额外的支撑。泡形罩包装10的总尺寸是:宽度约为2.5厘米,长度约4厘米,而高度为0.58厘米。然而底部可为任何形状,只要能满足本发明下述的各方面要求即可。
凹槽13容纳隐形眼镜17与溶液18。凹槽13周界最好由密封区15所限制,而该密封区则为凸缘14的一部分。借助在密封区15内进行热封合而将盖12粘附在底部11上;然而,感应密封、超声波焊接或其它粘合系统均可用来将盖12粘附在底座11上。凹槽13与盖12所确定的总内容积少于1毫升为好,而少于0.97毫升更好,最好则少于0.94毫升。此容积内的溶液量少于0.75毫升为好,少于0.68毫升更好,最好则少于0.55毫升。溶液量最好至少为0.15毫升。溶液可以是任何已知能有效保存隐形眼镜的溶液,包括水、含盐溶液或缓冲水溶液。隐形眼镜17与溶液18填满凹槽13与盖12所限定的总容积的至少50%为好,至少70%更好,而最好则至少填满80%。
底座由能够以注射成型或热塑成型的塑料材料制成为好。可用以制成底座的塑料材料以聚丙烯为好,但可包含其它类似的塑料材料,例如其它的聚亚烷基类,如聚乙烯与聚丁烯;聚酯,如聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯(PET);聚碳酸酯;或其它的热塑性材料。底座的材料、特别是凹槽部分的蒸气传输率在70°F与50%相对湿度时,小于10克/645.16平方厘米/24小时(即10grams/100square inches/24hours)。凹槽的厚度小于0.75毫米为好,小于0.65毫米更好,最好则小于0.55毫米。底座在凹槽的区域的大部分、若非所有、最好为凹槽的大部分区域即大于凹槽的区域的90%的厚度小于0.75毫米为好,小于0.65毫米为更好,最好则小于0.55毫米。凹槽的厚度以至少0.25毫米为最好。用以形成底座内凹槽的聚合物的体积小于400立方毫米为好,小于350立方毫米为更好,最好则小于250立方毫米。就最优选的实施例而言。用以形成凹槽的聚合物的体积大约为212立方毫米。用以形成凹槽及底座内的密封区的聚合物的体积较佳小于550立方毫米,小于400立方毫米更好,而最好则小于340立方毫米。就最优选的实施例而言,用以形成凹槽与密封区的聚合物的体积约为287立方毫米。用以形成底座的聚合物的体积较好是小于750立方毫米,小于650立方毫米更好,最好则小于540立方毫米。就最佳的实施例而言,形成底座的聚合物的体积约为532立方毫米。
盖是层压材料,其包含一金箔层及至少一层覆盖在该箔层上的聚合物层,而以覆盖两层聚合物层为好,该聚合物可例如为聚丙烯。金属箔层以铝为好。在箔层的热封合面上的聚合物覆盖层以聚丙烯为好。有用的盖的实例叙述在美国专利No.4,691,820中,该专利通过引用而结合到本申请案中。
图2是本发明的泡形罩包装的底座的顶视图。图2示出在凹槽13周围的凸缘14的密封区15。该密封区15的宽度小于1.7毫米为好,小于1.6毫米更好,最好则小于1.5毫米。最优选的密封区15的宽度为1.25毫米。密封区的宽度大于凹槽的厚度为好。密封区的总面积小于112平方毫米为好,小于102平方毫米更好,而最好则小于93平方毫米。就最佳的实施例而言,密封区的面积约为85平方毫米。密封区自凸缘表面所测得的高度小于0.3毫米为好,小于0.275毫米更好,最好则小于0.225毫米。就最佳的实施例而言,密封区的高度约为0.15毫米。在本文的自然段所述的密封区的特性是在将盖密封到底座之前所测定而得的。如上文所阐明的本发明的密封区所需的较小的高度已确定能够将盖更均匀地密封到底座并仅需要较小的力而可将之撕开。然而,虽仅需要较小的力以撕开密封仍然而亦已确定其仍能在运输、消毒及贮藏期限的期间内提供气密密封与足够的保护特性。将盖从底座上撕开的撕开力在0.363至4.536千克(0.8至10磅)之间为好,在0.363至3.178千克(0.8与7磅)之间更好,而最好则在0.454至1.362千克(1至3磅)之间,该结果为用Instron万用测试机测定所得。顶部空间在0.2毫米至2毫米为好,即指凹槽内的溶液的弯月面离开凹槽顶端的距离约0.2至2毫米为好,最好则为1毫米。
图3与图4示出本发明的泡形罩包装的另一实施例。图2所示的与图1中相同的元件以相同的符号标示。未于图1与图2示出的另外的元件是为横跨凸缘14的卷曲舌片的握持条30。握持条30或类似的元件附加在底座且不会显著地增加底座的聚合物的体积为好。
本发明的泡形罩包装产生出乎意料之外的结果。未预料到的是,如此借助减少溶液量与减少典型的隐形眼镜泡形罩包装的壁厚度而设计的隐形眼镜泡形罩包装仍然能提供超过4年、甚至超过5年的贮藏期限。在开始对本发明的泡形罩包装进行设计工作时,发明人相信从隐形眼镜泡形罩包装流失的溶液的最大量仅为溶液量的4%。假设在稳定的状况下,以Fick’s法则(在包装工业、特别是食物包装领域中,一般采用Fick’s法则预测贮藏期限)预测具有0.5毫米厚度的凹槽和0.5毫升溶液(水)的隐形眼镜泡形罩包装的贮藏期限是1.9年。然而,加速陈化的贮藏期限测试(泡形罩包装的水份流失测试)证明可在超过4%的溶液流失下,仍不会影响隐形眼镜的性质,况且此泡形罩包装所导致的水分流失率较根据先前的泡形罩包装设计所预测的水分流失率远低得多。
实例1
使用优选实施例的泡形罩包装说明本实例。泡形罩包装内的凹槽壁厚度为0.500±0.050毫米。泡形罩包装内的溶液量是为0.500±0.040毫升。所有的泡形罩包装含有硼酸盐缓冲的盐水溶液和Acuvue与Surevue亲水性隐形眼镜。所有的泡形罩包装均由ExxonPP1105聚丙烯树酯注射成型而成。为了评估水分的流失,将数以百计的泡形罩包装放置在受控温度与湿度受监测的环境室内并在加速陈化条件,亦即,摄氏23±2℃,且数以百计的泡形罩包装放置在控制温度与湿度监测的环境室内并在加速陈化的条件,亦即,摄氏45±2℃。在周围与加速陈化的条件下建立6个资料点:1个月、3.5个月、7个月、10个月、13.5个月和17个月。这些资料点相当于0.6年、1年、2年、3年、4年与5年。采用第一级动力学状态,在正常温度以上的测试温度下,每增加10℃,将使贮藏期限或有效期期限增加到1.8倍。例如,在45℃下进行为时七个月的加速陈化的稳定性研究便相当于预测两年贮藏期限。[以月计的加速陈化时间=trt+(1.8n×ta);其中trt与ta分别表示在室温与加速陈化贮藏条件下以月计的时间,且n=(Tacc-Trt)/10,单位为℃,其中Tacc=加速陈化温度(45℃)而Trt=室温(23℃)]。此公式与说明见于1994年5月的食品暨药物管理局(FDA)关于隐形眼镜的指南文件。
对特定时间期间将相同的50个泡形罩包装逐一地称出其重量,以便决定水分流失百分率,其中流失百分率是将在特定时间后所称得的重量除以最初的重量而得到。此外,对每一特定时间期间,从每一种贮藏条件下的泡形罩包装中取出20个隐形眼镜分析其参数(基本曲率、直径、中央厚度与度数)与化学特性(折射率、水含量与光传输率%)以决定是否有任何隐形眼镜的特性不符合规格。在每一测试区间的所有的隐形眼镜皆可接受并符合所有物理与化学性质的规格(基本曲率=8.8毫米±0.2毫米;直径=14.0毫米±0.20毫米;SUREVUE-1.00D的中央厚度=0.150毫米±0.030毫米或ACUVUE-9.00D的中央厚度=0.100毫米±0.030毫米;SUREVUE-1.00D的度数=-1.00D±0.25D或ACUVUE-9.00D的度数=-9.00D±0.25D;折射率=1.40±0.01,水含量=58%±3%;光传输率%在波长为587nm至599nm范围≥85%且≤95%)。贮藏期限研究的蒸气传输/水分流失结果如下:

上述的实例显示水分流失率可高于7%,甚至高于9.9%,但仍能提供随时可用的隐形眼镜。对水分流失的关注的原因在于缓冲水溶液成分的改变可能引起隐形眼镜特性的改变到如此程度使得该隐形眼镜无法使用。
实例2
另外进行溶液性质变化的独立研究以测试其对隐形眼镜特性的影响。使用标准缓冲硼酸盐溶液作成7种水含量在±15%之间变化的不同溶液,将15片一日用型的ACUVUE-3.00D一次性隐形眼镜放入每一种溶液内进行平衡处理,24小时之后,测试隐形眼镜诸如基本曲率、中央厚度、度数、折射率与水含量的特性。纵然隐形眼镜本质上是离子性的且因溶液的离子强度而膨胀,所有的隐形眼镜的上述特性皆能符合规格。根据此项研究,决定溶液传导特性可达到12×103至20×103微西门子/厘米(μS/cm)的范围间,或更保守的说。在13.2×103至17.2×103微西门子/厘米(μS/cm)d的范围间。从该7种溶液所测得的隐形眼镜特性的最小与最大值列表如下。

本发明与相关的实例示出泡形罩包装即使将凹槽厚度与溶液量减少而水分损失大于8%,甚至10%与15%之间,仍能提供超过4年,甚至超过5年的贮藏期限。

1.一种泡形罩包装,其包括底座与盖,其中所述底座由容纳隐形眼镜与溶液的凹槽组成,其特征在于:所述凹槽材料的厚度小于0.75毫米,且所述凹槽容纳少于0.75毫升的溶液。
2.如权利要求1所述的泡形罩包装,其特征在于:所述凹槽容纳少于0.68毫升的溶液。
