Description

本发明涉及带有处理例如闭路字幕数据(closed    caption    data)之类的辅助视频信息能力的电视系统。一个电视系统的视频信号处理部分可具有解码和显示诸如闭路字幕数据之类的辅助视频信息的能力。闭路字幕数据包括ASCII字符形式的数字数据,它代表电视信号中的音频信息。在电视显示屏上的闭路字幕数据显示用于提供音频节目的可视表示,作为听力有缺陷的电视观众的一种辅助。在美国,闭路字幕标准颁布在联邦通信委员会(FCC)条例中(见例如47CRF    §§15.119和73.682)。FCC条例规定,数字闭路字幕数据在视频信号场1的行21上发送。每次产生场1中行21时发送两个ASCII字符的数据表示。该标准的将来的修改可能提供位于其它行,例如每场的行21的闭路字幕数据。
闭路字幕数据由一个解码器从视频信号解码。在闭路字幕被允许时,已解码信号被耦合到视频显示器。一般地,听力有缺陷的观众通过触发一个开关(例如遥控器上或电视机的控制面板上的开关)或通过在操作控制模式期间从视频屏幕上显示的菜单中选择闭路字幕而允许闭路字幕显示。闭路字幕显示一但被激活就将保持,直至被观众禁止。没有听力缺陷的观众可能希望禁止闭路字幕以避免闭路字幕显示侵占显示的视频节目。
电视系统还可在音频信号处理部分中包括音频抑制特性。触发音频抑制使得电视的音频输出信号被禁止。音量控制设定和显示的视频节目不受影响。当音频抑制被禁止时,正常的音频输出被重建而无需调节音量控制。例如,通过遥控器、控制面板,或与激活闭路字幕显示相似模式下的显示菜单项可激活音频抑制。
音频抑制可用于多种情况。例如,当打电话时或交谈时,用户可能希望禁止音频输出(即允许抑制)。虽然音频抑制通过消除音频节目的噪音而提供有用的影响,但如果观众依靠听到音频节目作为享受和理解电视节目的一部分,观众可能不希望在音频抑制期间失去重要信息。
本发明部分在于对上述问题的识别,和部分在于提供该问题的解决方法,更具体地说,根据本发明的原理,处理电视信号的系统包括视频和音频信号处理频道,分别用于产生视频和音频输出信号。视频信号处理频道带有从视频信号中解码辅助信息信号分量的能力和将辅助信息信息信号包含在视频输出信号中的能力。音频信号处理信道包含在电视系统的预定条件下禁止产生音频输出信号的能力。在系统在特定操作模式中,当音频输出信号的产生被禁止时,辅助信息信号被包含在视频输出信号中。而且,在音频输出信号的产生被允许时,辅助信息信号从视频输出信号中排除。

图1中,电视信号处理系统包括视频信号处理信道100和音频信号处理信道150,用于处理输入电视信号中各自的视频分量VIDEO    IN和音频分量AUDIO    IN。视频分量VIDEO    IN可包含辅助信息分量,如由闭路字幕解码器110从视频分量解码的闭路字幕(CC)数据。屏上显示(OSD)处理器120响应包含已解码闭路字幕数据的信号,以产生屏上显示信号OSDOUT。OSD处理器120响应信号CCEN的适当电平(例如逻辑1)而被允许产生闭路字幕数据的显示。OSD处理器120的其它应用包括频道数据指示器显示的产生或菜单显示的产生,菜单显示允许用户通过选择菜单项控制如音量之类的特性。
OSD处理器120还通过视频开关130控制显示诸如闭路字幕数据等OSD信息的视频显示部分。开关130响应来自OSD处理器120的信号OSDSEL以选择信号VIDEO    OUT的信号源。例如,逻辑0的信号OSDSEL使开关130将信号VIDEO耦合到信号VIDEO    OUT,而逻辑1的信号OSDSEL使信号OSDOUT耦合到信号VIDEO    OUT。当屏上显示信息被显示时,信号OSDOUT被耦合到信号VIDEO    OUT。当屏上显示信息被显示时,信号OSDOUT被耦合到信号VIDEO    OUT。
为保证OSD信息在正确的时间被显示,即在视频显示器的正确部分显示,OSD处理器120的操作通过由图1中信号SYNC表示的一个或多个同步信号与视频处理器100的操作同步,信号SYNC可包括垂直和水平同步信号,如那些由偏转和同步分离器功能产生的信号。简而言之,视频输入信号VIDEO    IN通过信号SYNC的同步使得OSD处理器可以确定何时开始特定视频行和视频行和视频场。例如,OSD处理器120可响应垂直同步信号而初始化计数器和响应水平同当信号而计数水平行。此外,OSD处理器120可包含一个计数器,该计数器响应水平同步信号而被初始化并计数每个水平行内的延迟(即位置)。当水平行计数和水平延迟计数指示视频显示的“OSD”部分将被显示时,OSD处理器120产生信号OSDSEL的适当电平(例如逻辑1)以耦合信号OSDOUT至信号VIDEO    OUT。
在图1中,音频信号处理信道150处理音频分量AUDIO    IN以产生信号AUDIO。如图1所示,音频抑制能力由音频开关160响应信号MUTE的操作而产生。当音频输出被允许(例如信号MUTE为逻辑0)时,开关160将信号AUDIO耦合到信号AUDIO    OUT。当音频静噪被允许(例如信号MUTE为逻辑1)则开关160将信号AUDIO从信号音频输出AUDIO从信号音频输出AUDIO    OUT去耦合并将信号AUDIO    OUT耦合到地,从而阻止音频输出信号的产生。
信号CCEN和MUTE由解码和控制单元140响应用户输入信息而产生,用户输入信息在图1中由信号USER    INPUT(用户输入)表示。例如,电视观众可触发遥控器上的一个开关而选择抑制。解码单元140检测该开关的激活,确定被选择的功能,并提供正确的控制信号。在如抑制的功能的情况下,抑制开关的激活可引起抑制控制信号MUTE的当前状态被触发。例如,如果信号MUTE在逻辑0表示抑制被禁止,激活抑制开关将使信号MUTE变为逻辑1而允许抑制。当抑制被允许时,激活抑制开关将禁止抑制。
信号CCEN响应与操作的闭路字幕模式有关的用户输入命令而产生。例如,典型的操作闭路字幕模式可包括在所有时间允许闭路字幕显示(例如对于听力有缺陷的观众)或在所有时间禁止闭路字幕显示(例如对于没有听力缺陷的观众)。这些操作作模式可通过适当的用户输入装置(例如遥控器、控制面板、或选择显示菜单中的菜单项)而选择。选择在所有时间进行闭路字幕显示是在音频抑制被允许和禁止两者下都提供闭路字幕显示。在此,这一操作模式被称为“带音频的闭路字幕”模式。为控制操作的带音频的闭路字幕模式,解码和控制单元140通过与上述触发信号MUTE相似的方式触发信号CCEN的当前状态而产生信号CCEN。
解码和控制单元140还产生信号CCEN和MUTE以提供这里称为“带抑制的闭路字幕”模式的操作模式,在该模式下,闭路字幕分别响应抑制的允许和禁止而自动允许和禁止。与音频方式的闭路字幕相同,操作的带抑制的闭路字幕可通过激活适当的用户输入装置而选择。在带抑制的闭路字幕模式期间,信号MUTE自动使信号CCEN允许OSD处理器120产生闭路字幕显示。当信号MUTE禁止抑制时,信号CCEN禁止闭路字幕显示。一旦选择了带抑制的产路字幕模式,用户可在静噪期间通过只激活抑制控制而可视地监视音频节目。
解码和控制单元140的上述功能可由一个微处理器在适当的软件控制下产生。图2示出说明微处理器产生信号CCEN和MUTE的方法的流程图,当开关被激活(或与抑制有关的菜单项的状态改变)时,信号MUTE如上述那样被触发,响应信号MUTE状态的改变,微处理器在步骤200进入图2所示的程序。在步骤210,微处理器判定是否用户已选择了操作的带音频的闭路字幕模式,这是通过,例如,测试一个当用户选择该模式时设置的标志而完成的。如果选择了带音频的闭路字幕模式,则在所有时间均产生闭路字幕显示而与抑制的状态无关。因此,不需要测试抑制状态,并且微处理器在步骤290退出图2的程序。
如果未选择带音频的闭路字幕模式,操作在步骤220继续,在此音频抑制状态通过,例如,测试信号MUTE的状态而被测试。在步骤220的测试发生在信号MUTE的状态在步骤200被触发之后。如果抑制被允许,操作从步骤220进行到步骤240,在此,微处理器判定是否选择了带抑制的闭路字幕模式,这是通过,例如,测试适当标志完成的,如果选择了带抑制的闭路字幕模式,则由微处理器在步骤250建立图1的信号CCEN的适当状态(例如逻辑1以启动闭路字幕显示)而使闭路字幕能显示。如果未选择带抑制的闭路字幕模式,则绕过步骤250而微处理器直接进到步骤290,退出该程序。
当在步骤220的音频状态测试表明抑制被禁止,操作继续步骤280而不是步骤240。到达步骤220的音频状态测试所需的条件是未选择带音频的闭路字幕模式(在步骤210测试)。因此,如果步骤220指示抑制被禁止(即音频被允许),闭路字幕显示被禁止。这是在步骤280完成,其中闭路字幕显示由建立信号CCEN的适当状态(例如逻辑0)而被禁止,则在步骤280之后,程序在步骤290退出。
图3示出近似于完成图2流程图描述的特定功能的数字逻辑。图3中,解码单元300可以是硬件连线解码逻辑或翻译用户命令USER    I    NPUT的微处理器。解码单元300产生不同控制信号,包括信号CCAUDIO、CCMUTE和MUTE。信号CCAUDIO和CCMUTE分别表示选择了操作的带音频的闭路字幕和带抑制的闭路字幕模式。信号MUTE表示如上所述的抑制状态。所有这三个信号由解码单元300保持,直至用户输入改变闭路字幕模式或状态。
图3中,逻辑1的信号CCAUD10表示选择了带音频的闭路字幕模式。或门350响应逻辑1的信号CCAUDIO,使信号CCEN变为逻辑1,从而允许闭路字幕显示而与信号MUTE无关。如果带音频的闭路字幕模式未被选择(即信号CCAUDIO为逻辑0),当选择了带抑制的闭路字幕模式(信号CCMUTE为逻辑1)和选择了抑制(信号MUTE为逻辑1)时,可通过与门340允许闭路字幕显示如果信号CCAUDIO和CCMUTE都为逻辑0,信号CCEN为逻辑0(即禁止的闭路字幕显示)。通过在或门350增加一个输入而接收允许闭路字幕显示的每个附加控制信号,图3中的布局可修改以适于允许附加控制模式中的闭路字幕显示。
解码和控制单元140的实现,即基于示于图2的控制方法的微处理器,或图3中的数字逻辑方法可包含在OSD处理器120的功能中。并且,诸如闭路字幕解码器110、解码和控制单元140的功能和OSD处理器120可包含在一个OSD集成电路中。
虽然本发明是从用户控制音频抑制功能的角度描述的,本申请还可用于在电视系统的特定操作模式期间自动激活抑制的情况。此外,本发明还可用于提供处理非闭路字幕显示的各种类型辅助视频信息,例如,电视文字广播的电视系统中。

Claims (4)

1、在一个用于处理电视信号的系统中的一种装置,所述电视信号包括分别对应于相同电视节目中的可视和可听部分的视频分量和相关的音频分量,所述可听部分包含与所述电视节目的所述可视部分相关的话音部分,所述视频分量包含一个辅助信息分量,该辅助信息分量相应于所述电视节目的所述话音部分的可视表示,所述装置包括:
响应所述视频分量,用于产生相应于所述电视节目的所述可视部分的视频输出信号(VIDEO)的装置(100);
响应所述辅助信息分量,用于有选择地产生相应于所述电视节目的所述可视部分相关的所述电视节目的所述话音部分的所述可视表示的辅助信息输出信号(OSDOUT)的装置(110,120,140);
用于将所述辅助信息输出信号在产生时包含在所述视频输出信号中的装置(130),以与所述电视节目的所述相关可视部分一起显示所述电视节目的所述话音部分的所述可视表示;
响应所述音频分量,用于产生相应于所述电视节目的所述可听部分的音频输出信号(AUDIO)的装置(150);
用于在所述系统的所述预定操作状态期间禁止所述音频输出信号的正常产生的装置(160);其中
所述辅助信息输出信号产生装置(110,120,140)被耦合到所述音频输出信号禁止装置(160)上,用于在所述系统的所述预定操作状态期间,当被允许时产生所述辅助信息输出信号;和
