背景技术
诸如由热塑膜制成的包装件之类的柔性包装件可以在印制该膜的过程中生产,包装件或袋由该膜通过成形该膜并叠置膜层来生产,该包装件被填充并且被通过使用卡爪夹压进行密封。卡爪可以产生密封,该密封将热量和压力施加到该包装件的密封区域。当印制该密封区域时,即使存在防护性清漆涂层或层压结构,卡爪的几何形状也可能在印制图像区域中导致缺陷。

具体实施方式
使用柔性包装材料的薄膜或薄片来包装不同类型的消费品,仅举几个示例,这些消费品例如为食品、药品、化妆品、玩具等,其中,在该膜上印制有诸如公司品牌或产品信息之类的图像。柔性包装材料用于保护产品使其免受例如湿气、氧化或病菌的影响,同时也向用户提供关于其中所包含的产品的性质和原产地等的信息。
液体电子照相印刷(LEP)或静电印刷是一种方法,通过该方法,可以将图像或信息印刷到诸如纸或塑料之类的基材上。LEP印刷过程涉及在光电导表面上形成图像,将具有带电粒子的油墨施加于该光电导表面,使得它们选择性地粘合到该图像,并且随后以图像的形式将带电粒子转印到印刷基材。

液体电子照相油墨成分待被印刷到其上的柔性基材(并且因此在本文中也被称为印刷基材)可以是适合于用在液体电子照相印刷过程中并且适合于用在柔性包装材料中的任何材料。柔性基材可以形成由层压的柔性包装材料构成的最外层,或者它可以形成整个包装材料。柔性基材可以是透明的、半透明的或不透明的。
在一个示例中,柔性基材包括由聚合物(例如热塑性聚合物)构成的膜。例如,柔性包装材料由PET/PE预层压件或PET/Al/PE预层压件形成。在另一示例中,柔性基材包括一种由双轴定向的聚丙烯(BOPP)、聚丙烯(PP)或聚对苯二甲酸乙二酯(PET)制成的膜。其它适用的聚合物在本领域中将会是众所周知的,并且上文中提供的示例应被视为是非限制性示例。柔性基材可包括单层或多层膜,该膜具有处于约5μm到约150μm的范围中的或从约10μm到约20μm的厚度或例如为约12μm的厚度。
用于印刷在柔性包装材料上的液体电子照相印刷(LEP)成分可包括着色剂或色素、聚合树脂和载体流体或液体。LEP成分可还包括添加剂,例如电荷导向剂、电荷助剂、表面活性剂、粘度调节剂、乳化剂等。在一些示例中,LEP成分可以不包含任何色素,或者包括基本为零的色素并且因此为用于向印刷基材提供特定的透明的光泽或光辉的无色素成分。印刷包装材料可包括用以促进在LEP成分和包装材料之间的附着力的底漆以及覆盖和保护LEP成分的套印清漆。套印清漆(OPV)可被施加在表面印刷图像上,以保护LEP印刷使其免受化学和机械损伤、热、紫外辐射等的影响。保护印刷图像的另一方式可以通过层压结构,使用粘合剂和辅助基材来完成。
图1示出了一种用于利用柔性包装材料生产包装件的系统的示例。该系统包括由包装材料10构成的卷筒,其在该示例中可以是一种热塑性膜基材,该热塑性膜基材具有通过LEP印刷有套印清漆(OPV)涂层的表面。包装材料10可被作为膜腹板12经由多个辊子14运送到成形站16。在图1的示例中,成形站16包括成形管18和成形肩部20,但是可以使用其它类型的成形装置。成形站将膜腹板12再成形以具有管状形状,该管状形状被沿在成形站的下游生产的纵向接缝22在接缝成形单元26处闭合住。热塑性膜的该“环形”管被进给到密封站24,在密封站24处,可以通过密封卡爪30、32产生底部接缝。这将成为一种新包装件或袋的底部。随后,将产品(未示出)分散到该包装件中,并且该包装件的顶部可以使用同一对密封卡爪30、32或另一对密封卡爪通过顶部密封部加以密封。通过经由密封卡爪30、32施加热量和压力,在接缝区域中对包装件进行密封。密封介质由在密封过程中至少部分地熔融的热塑性膜的材料提供。在一个示例中,使用预层压结构,例如PET/A1/PE,并且PE膜被熔融作为密封介质。一旦密封介质已经冷却和固化,就完成了密封。密封过程可能需要不到一秒钟。
在一个示例中,密封站24可包括两对密封卡爪,下面一对用于形成已经刚填充好的包装件的顶部密封部;靠近成形站16的上面一对用于形成下一包装件的底部接缝。可以在这两对密封卡爪之间设置切割装置(例如刀片),以切割和分离开后续的包装件。
虽然在图1中示出了竖向系统设计,但这仅是一种示例并且可以设想到不同的系统构造。例如,形成包装件、填充和密封该包装件可以在单个位置或站处进行在线处理,或者它可以被分布在不同的位置或站上。尽管图1示出了一种实施所有的形成步骤、填充步骤和密封步骤的在线系统,但是其它系统可以提供一种被航运到顾客的包装件的预制件,其中,包装件被填充有产品并被密封住。
图2示出了根据多种示例的多个不同的包装件设计。一个包装件40具有枕形设计,其包括可由如例如参照图1描述的一对密封卡爪形成的顶部密封部42和底部密封部44。另一包装件50具有所谓的块底部设计,其包括可以由一对密封卡爪形成的顶部接缝52。该包装件具有平坦的底部并且可以竖立。另一包装件60具有包括顶部密封部62和底部密封部64的所谓的角撑板设计,其为枕形设计的变型。包装件50和60具有侧面折痕以提供附加体积。每个密封部都可由一对密封卡爪形成,其包括沿接缝的长度延伸以产生“波形”密封结构的凹槽和脊部。
图3示出了包装件18的密封部分的放大视图。包装件70包括顶部密封区域72和侧向密封区域74。在图3的示例中,每个密封区域72、74包括根据正弦波或近似正弦波成形的三个脊部和三个凹槽。凹槽各自具有倒圆的底部,并且脊部具有倒圆的顶部。参照图4更为详细地解释了波形密封区域的形状,图4示出了用于产生密封区域的密封卡爪的示例。
图4示出了密封卡爪30的示例,该密封卡爪30为用于生产包装件的密封接缝的密封工具的一部分。密封卡爪30包括细长的工具板34,其具有在待形成的密封的方向中延伸的长度。支撑立柱36设置于板的较短侧面处,用于将卡爪安装在密封工具中。工具板34具有平坦表面部分38及波形轮廓,该波形轮廓包括交替的凹槽40和脊部42。在图4的示例中,在工具板34的表面上设置有四个凹槽和四个脊部。可以设置其它数量的凹槽和脊部,例如两个凹槽和两个脊部,或者三个凹槽和三个脊部,或者三个凹槽和四个脊部,或者四个凹槽和三个脊部等。在一个示例中,工具板34的波形轮廓包括一个到六个脊部以及一个到六个脊部,或两个到四个凹槽和两个到四个脊部。工具板34可以由不锈钢铁或提供基材用于形成波形轮廓的另一物质制成。可以在卡爪上施加特氟隆涂层,以避免粘附到密封表面的粘着性。
在一个示例中,凹槽在其底部区域中具有弧形横截面,并且脊部在其顶部区域中具有弧形横截面。凹槽的弧形横截面和脊部的弧形横截面可具有相同或近似相同的曲率半径。凹槽的弧形横截面和脊部的弧形横截面可具有约0.5mm到2mm的曲率半径。
图4中所示的密封卡爪30可与另一匹配的密封卡爪(未示出)组合使用,其中,一对密封卡爪是密封工具的一部分。每个密封卡爪30包括具有波形轮廓的表面,其中一对密封卡爪具有包括凹槽和脊部的互补轮廓,当两个卡爪被集合在一起时,凹槽和脊部彼此接合。在这个和其它示例中,一个密封卡爪的凹槽的深度可对应于该配合密封卡爪的脊部的高度;并且一个密封卡爪的凹槽的节距可对应于与加热卡爪配合的脊部的节距。在这个和其它示例中,节距可以处于约1mm到3mm的范围中。在这个和其它示例中,一个密封卡爪的凹槽的深度可以对应于该配合密封卡爪的脊部的高度,其中,深度和高度处于约0.3mm到0.8mm的范围中。在这个和其它示例中,凹槽的深度和凹槽的节距之间的比值可处于约1:10到1:3的范围中。
在这个和其它示例中,凹槽在凹槽的底部处的曲率半径及脊部在脊部的顶部处的曲率半径可以为凹槽的深度的约1.5到2.5倍或凹槽的节距的约1/10到3/4。在这个和其它示例中,凹槽和脊部可在相应的卡爪表面上形成正弦或近似正弦的轮廓。
图4中所示的密封卡爪30与具有波形轮廓的相应汇合的密封卡爪组合使用,该波形轮廓与密封卡爪30的轮廓互补,其中,这一对密封卡爪是密封站或密封工具的一部分。密封工具还包括与密封卡爪中的一个或两个耦合的加热装置。加热装置可被至少部分地集成到密封卡爪中的一个或两个中。图1中以24示意性地示出的密封工具还包括用于使密封卡爪朝向彼此移动和彼此分离移动的机构。为了形成该密封部,一个或两个密封卡爪被加热并朝向彼此移动,其中,包装材料的一部分被放置在这一对密封卡爪之间的压印线(nip)中。因此,当在包装材料上闭合住密封卡爪时,密封卡爪将压力和热量施加到包装材料,以便至少部分地熔融该材料并将该包装材料密封在密封区域中。结果,产生波形密封的接缝区域,其示例被在图3中示出。
密封卡爪的波形轮廓避免了具有尖锐边缘的脊部和凹槽,并且由此避免了在密封过程中损坏印刷好的包装材料。例如,即使提供了套印清漆,由LEP技术印刷的包装材料也容易受到使用具有尖锐边缘的带有凹槽的卡爪进行的热密封的影响,这是因为LEP化学对高温和电邮凹槽的卡爪的尖锐几何形状以及所施加的压力是敏感的。可以产生可在最终包装件上可见的油墨和套印清漆的机械运动。为了避免印刷图像中的任何光学缺陷和由密封卡爪所导致的有色斑点,可以使用密封卡爪的波形轮廓,其示例在图4中示出。由于凹槽和脊部的倒圆轮廓,导致可以避免损坏任何印刷好的图像和/或套印清漆或将其至少减少到使其不再可感知的程度。性能测试已经表明,具有波形轮廓的密封卡爪可以获得非常良好且可靠的密封效果。
在一个示例中,包括PET/PE预层压结构的包装材料是使用LEP技术和套印清漆印刷的表面。通过将两层包装材料叠置,并使用例如在图4中所示的密封卡爪之类的密封卡爪将包装材料密封在密封区域中来生产包装件。在对比示例中,已经使用在凹槽的底部和脊部的顶部处具有尖锐边缘的密封卡爪来生产一种类似的密封区域。在这个示例和对比示例中,表面印刷的包装材料被在约180℃的高温下,施加约450,000帕的压力持续约1秒的时间进行密封。根据包装材料的组成和厚度,可以选择不同的温度范围和不同的压力范围,其包括处于150℃到200℃的范围中的温度以及处于200,000到600,000帕(2-6巴)的范围中的压力。
为了验证密封质量,根据该示例的包装件以及根据对比示例的包装件经历多次试验以比较性能,例如,考虑升高温度下的密封粘合强度、坠落试验、泄漏试验和巴氏杀菌。例如,在坠落试验中,该包装件被填充有200毫升的水,被密封住并被从1.8米的高度坠落。随后对该包装件进行视觉检查,用于检查密封区域中的泄漏,其中,没有缺陷能够被观察到。在另一试验中,填充有水的包装件被在95℃下持续一个小时的巴氏杀菌过程。再者,在巴氏杀菌过程之后,没有密封好的接缝区域的退化能够被观察到。试验表明,该示例的粘合强度至少与对比示例的粘合强度一样好,乃至比之更好。此外,使用具有波形轮廓的密封卡爪(例如图4中所示),包装材料上的印刷在密封区域中并未受损;而在对比示例中,在密封卡爪的尖锐边缘使油墨移位,从而使印刷图像失真,乃至刮伤或刮掉部分印花的情况下,可以观察到图像缺陷。使用波形卡爪避免了机械油墨运动,并在进行密封之后,产生较高质量的输出。
图5示出了用于示出密封卡爪的波形轮廓的示例的示意图。在图5的示例中,该轮廓具有正弦或近似正弦的横截面。假设线S表示密封卡爪的工具板34的平坦表面部分38,图5中所示的波形轮廓包括凹槽50和脊部52。在图5的示例中,幅度A对应于凹槽的深度;节距P表示两个相邻脊部顶部之间的距离;并且半径R表示脊顶处的曲率参数。在图5的示例中,凹槽的深度具有与脊部的高度相同的幅度;相邻脊部的节距与相邻凹槽的节距相同;并且脊部顶部处的曲率半径与凹槽底部处的曲率半径相同。参数的一些示例(幅度A、节距P和半径R)为:0.3mm<A<0.8mm;1mm<P<3mm;以及0.5mm<R<2mm。其中,绝对值将取决于待被密封住的包装件的尺寸和性质。此外,凹槽和脊部的数量将取决于包装件的尺寸和性质以及预期的粘合强度。

Claims (15)

14.一种利用柔性包装材料生产包装件的方法,所述方法包括:
提供两层所述柔性包装材料并使所述两层叠置以形成密封区域;
将所述两层的密封区域插置在两个密封卡爪之间,所述两个密封卡爪包括具有第一卡爪表面的第一卡爪和具有第二卡爪表面的第二卡爪,其中,相应的卡爪表面被彼此相对地布置,所述第一卡爪表面包括多个凹槽并且所述第二卡爪表面包括多个脊部,所述凹槽和所述脊部沿所述密封区域的长度延伸;
使所述两个密封卡爪朝向彼此移动并使用所述密封卡爪向所述密封区域施加热量和压力,以便在所述密封区域中形成波形密封结构,所述波形密封结构包括与所述卡爪表面的凹槽和脊部对应的凹槽和脊部,其中,所述凹槽和所述脊部形成有相应的底部区域和顶部区域,所述底部区域和所述顶部区域具有曲率半径为至少0.5mm的弧形横截面。
15.根据权利要求14的方法,其中,所述曲率半径为约0.5mm到2mm。
