Item Control group Test group
Number of heads (head) 20 30
Death rate (%) 5.00 3.33
28 day old body weight (kg) 6.98±0.18 6.95±0.19
158 days old body weight (kg) 94.40±2.43 101.41±2.85**
Average daily gain (kg) 0.649±0.109 0.710±0.096*
Average daily food intake (kg) 1.729 1.807
Material to weight ratio 2.67 2.55
Remarking: "+" indicates significant difference (p < 0.05) compared to control group, "+" indicates very significant difference (p < 0.01), and no notation indicates insignificant difference (p > 0.05).
The test results show that the fermented traditional Chinese medicine can obviously increase the weight (p is less than 0.01) and the average daily gain (p is less than 0.05 or p is less than 0.01) of the nursery pigs, the growing pigs, the fattening pigs and the commercial pigs in the whole test period, reduce the feed-weight ratio (the weight of the nursery pigs, the growing pigs, the fattening pigs and the commercial pigs in the whole test period is respectively reduced by 5.38%, 4.67%, 5.44% and 4.49%), improve the growth performance of the commercial pigs and increase the breeding benefit.
