一些结晶控制剂引人关注的性质是其可以与模板材料(如纤维素)的官能团相互作用。当例如碳酸钙沉淀到纤维素纤维上时,这种相互作用是特别引人关注的,因为在纤维素纤维-Ca(OH)2-CO2体系中,聚合物添加剂在改性前体体系中的作用还不是很清楚。然而,Hosoda和Kato(2011)使用了PAA的羧基和纤维素上的羟基之间的受控相互作用,并且在从过饱和的CaCO3溶液中结晶的纤维素表面上获得了连续的薄方解石膜。他们得出结论,薄膜形成是聚丙烯酸的羧基和聚合物中的羟基或氨基之间的相互作用以及PAA在本体溶液中抑制结晶的能力的综合作用。
以上讨论的文献表明,没有技术方案来制备无定形PCC-纤维复合物或复合材料。
发明内容
本发明涉及用于制备沉淀在天然纤维上的稳定的无定形碳酸钙的方法,包括以下步骤:
a)将水、0至120重量%(基于纤维重量计)的在溶液中的至少一种高度带电的(highly charged)阴离子聚合物、1-100重量%(基于批料的总干重计)的Ca(OH)2和0.1至95重量%(基于批料的总干重计)的天然纤维混合;
b)在搅拌期间向步骤a)的混合物进料CO2以获得沉淀;
c)干燥混合物或过滤在步骤b)中获得的沉淀固体物。
在本发明的一个实施方案中,在步骤a)中使用60-80重量%的Ca(OH)2和40-120重量%的高度带电的阴离子聚合物。
在本发明的一个实施方案中,高度带电的阴离子聚合物是聚丙烯酸或其盐。在一个实施方案中,高度带电的阴离子聚合物是聚丙烯酸钠。

在造纸领域,PCC形态和粒径是控制填料性能的重要因素。因此,形态控制是原位沉淀中的一个重要因素,但据我们所知,几乎没有对改进纤维素纤维-Ca(OH)2-CO2体系中的PCC形态控制进行的努力,并且尚未研究PAA的影响。在这项工作中,使用间歇反应器在PAA的存在下将PCC原位沉淀到纤维素微纤维上。取决于微纤维和PAA的浓度,改变二氧化碳和氢氧化钙之间的反应以得到不同的PCC形态。已经证明,通过改变方法(过程)参数和氢氧化钙和PAA的浓度可以改变在微纤维上形成的PCC颗粒的形态。
在有和没有PAA的情况下PCC在纤维表面上的分布程度取决于方法条件。发现反应器中的纤维浓度是重要的,无论有和没有PAA,这部分归因于沉淀过程中的过饱和度和CaCO3的聚集和团聚,但Ca(OH)2和PAA的浓度以及物质的比例也很重要。基于pH的行为,怀疑在沉淀开始时存在不稳定的ACC相。高浓度PAA的使用表明可能形成稳定许多个月的时间的ACC化合物,这通过SEM图像和XRD分析的组合得到支持。
其上沉淀有CaCO3的木质纤维素纤维也可以用作例如食品成分,用于牙膏或其他个人护理产品,用于透明薄膜和用作药物产品中的成分,包括用作活性药物成分。

具体实施方式
材料和方法
使用Ca(OH)2作为石灰乳和CO2(AGA,纯度99.7%),在环境温度(20-23℃)下沉淀碳酸钙。将平均粒径为8μm(根据制造商)的干纤维素微纤维(Arbocel UFC100,JRS)在强烈混合下分散在水中。将聚丙烯酸钠、Na-PAA(Sigma-Aldrich,M~1800g/mol)溶解在水中(2、5和8重量%,使用尽可能低的浓度以在反应批料中达到目标浓度)并且在使用前立即用水稀释。
通过将水、PAA溶液(如果使用的话)、Ca(OH)2和纤维依此顺序混合来制备批料。通过重量分析测定溶液和悬浮液的含量,准确度为±0.5g。沉淀在配备有混合器和CO2入口的开放式间歇式反应器中进行。将搅拌速度设定为恒定的800rpm,并且初始批料温度为约20℃。在实验期间监测温度和pH的变化,并且在pH开始稳定在低水平时终止实验,通常在约pH6.5处。
将大部分样品在烘箱中干燥而不过滤,但是使用聚碳酸酯膜(Whatman,0.6μm)过滤一些使用PAA作为添加剂制备的样品,并且在干燥之前用蒸馏水(约30℃)清洗。使用扫描电子显微镜(FEI Nova NanoSEM 450场发射(Schottky发射器),具有10.0kV加速电压,8mm工作距离和可伸缩同心背散射检测器(CBS))研究干燥的PCC-纤维素复合材料样品。根据TAPPI标准T 211om-02和T 413om-11测定灰分含量,并且对所选择的样品进行热重分析(Mettler Toledo TGA/DSC 2)。
由SEM图像确定纤维素微纤维-PCC团聚物的形态和纤维素上的PCC晶体的尺寸。使用X射线衍射(使用Cu(Kα)辐射(λ=1.54184nm)在Bruker Discover D8衍射仪(Karlsruhe,德国)上进行的XRD测量)表征CaCO3多晶型物和纤维素-PCC复合物的结晶度。在13°-48°的2θ范围内收集XRD衍射图。X射线管在40kV和40mA下运行。对于相鉴定,使用PDF-2数据库(2012)。
表1中列出并解释了与在微纤维上沉淀纳米簇和晶体相关的变量。尽管在沉淀反应中纤维似乎是非反应性组分,但除了其有助于成核的能力之外,其在溶液的过饱和中还起着重要但间接的作用。这解释如下:
在给定灰分含量和给定量的纤维下Ca(OH)2/纤维比由纤维-PCC复合材料的目标填料含量根据以下等式决定,该等式来自于在TAPPI中的T 211om-02灰分定义。
其中A是灰分目标PCC灰分的重量,并且B是测试样品的重量,因此B-A是纤维的重量。常数0.7402是Ca(OH)2和CaCO3的摩尔质量比,以将PCC灰分的目标重量转化为Ca(OH)2的重量。
在所使用的批料(间歇)体系中,当目标灰分含量保持恒定时,增加纤维浓度增加Ca(OH)2浓度。Ca(OH)2浓度的增加反过来可以通过提供用于沉淀的反应性材料来影响过饱和度和离子物质的比例。一个重要的结果是,当通过简单地改变添加的Ca(OH)2的量和可能的CO2进料而将“相同”的批料(间歇)处理方法(过程)用于不同的目标填料灰分含量时,PCC性质以及因此纤维配料性质可能改变。即使改变所有方法参数以使比例真正固定,沉淀过程仍会随着添加的Ca(OH)2的量的变化而变化,因为沉淀的驱动力是过饱和度,其在给定条件下取决于沉淀物质的浓度。相反,改变纤维浓度以固定Ca(OH)2浓度将改变每体积单位的纤维表面积。

结果
微纤维浓度和CO2进料的影响
在5种不同的纤维浓度下,即0.5、1.0、2.0、3.0和6.0重量%,在没有聚合物添加剂的情况下将CaCO3沉淀到微纤维上。基于烘干纤维计,目标Ca(OH)2浓度为69重量%。沉淀得到在未过滤的样品上测量的平均46.3重量%的灰分(矿物填料)含量。在这种情况下,矿物填料含量和灰分含量是同义词,因为微纤维不产生灰分。假设石灰乳基本上不含杂质或反应产物如CaCO3,则所获得的灰分得到91mol-%的Ca(OH)2转化效率,基于重量损失计(TAPPI标准T 211om-02和T 413om-11结合)。
图1示出沉淀到1.0和3.0重量%的微纤维浓度下的相对较大的PCC颗粒。发现沉积的PCC颗粒的尺寸随着纤维(重量%)与二氧化碳(l/min)的比例的降低,以及随着在恒定比例下纤维浓度的增加而降低。图1C示出,在较高的纤维浓度和较大的二氧化碳进料下,基本上较大部分纳米颗粒成核并且在纤维素微纤维(而不是椭圆形CaCO3颗粒)的表面上生长,可能是因为体系中的较大的每单位体积的纤维表面积和较高的过饱和度。
观察到的PCC颗粒尺寸的大部分差异是由于在低微纤维浓度下形成椭圆形颗粒的纳米尺寸晶体的聚集和团聚,而不是由于单个晶体的尺寸。当在恒定的CO2进料(0.5l/min)下纤维浓度从1.0重量%增加到3.0重量%时,PCC颗粒的形态略微改变并且许多沉淀到微纤维上的颗粒更大(参见图1B),这归因于更密集的团聚。此外,对于含有0.5或1.0重量%的微纤维的悬浮液,将CO2进料从0.5l/min增加到6.0l/min没有引起PCC颗粒形态的任何可检测的变化。相反,当含有3.0重量%或更多的纤维的批料中的CO2进料增加时,晶体尺寸减小,这可见于图1B和1C。聚集和团聚的变化引起在纤维表面上的更均匀的PCC分布和更好的纤维覆盖。图2示出使用3.0重量%的纤维浓度和1.5l/min的CO2进料沉淀的样品的灰分(525±25℃)的SEM图像,其具有不规则的PCC团聚物。
在Subramanian等(2007)进行的实验中,获得了椭圆形PCC结构,其与图1A和1B一致。这些椭圆形PCC结构(由Subramanian等(2007)表示为胶体PCC(c-PCC))用低浓度的纤维素细料获得,并且归因于ACC的中间体形成及其分解。该成核和晶体生长过程导致pH的急剧下降(ACC的形成),紧接着pH的快速增加(ACC的分解),并且在本案例中也观察到这种情况。
图2示出从在525±25℃下燃烧的微纤维-PCC-PAA样品获得的灰分的SEM显微照片。PCC颗粒形态类似于在没有PAA的情况下沉淀到微纤维上的PCC。在低PAA/Ca(OH)2比例下,PCC颗粒尺寸均匀,具有对称、球形或椭圆形态。随着PAA/Ca(OH)2比例的增加,颗粒变得不均匀,形成与CaCO3的液体前体相关的“熔融”外观(Gower&Odom,2000)。尤其是在50和100重量%的PAA浓度下,颗粒形成具有弯曲形状的大的多晶聚集体,这也与通过PILP和ACC形成晶体有关(Gower&Odom,2000)。
当在3.0重量%的PAA浓度下,并且Ca(OH)2的添加从32重量%增加到69重量%时,没有在微纤维上的PCC颗粒中见到明显的差异。另一方面,在燃烧后测定的颗粒的形态显示随着Ca(OH)2浓度增加超过41重量%,颗粒规则性增加。当PAA/Ca(OH)2比例增加时,颗粒不规则性增加,这与由例如Yu等(2004)提出的结果一致,其得出结论,PAA/CaCO3比例对CaCO3形态的影响比对所形成的CaCO3浓度的影响更明显。
图3示出在CO2按剂量加入和随后的碳酸化下作为时间的函数的pH以及其对纤维浓度的依赖性。在低纤维浓度下,在实验开始时在恒定的CO2进料下pH迅速下降,然后立即提高。随着纤维浓度提高(在目标灰分含量保持恒定时)随后出现拐点。
聚丙烯酸钠(PAA)作为前体稳定剂的影响
先前已经证明使用PAA来控制CaCO3晶体形态(Huang等,2007;Ouhenia等,2008;Yu等,2004),以及当CaCO3晶体沉积在纤维素基底上时(Hosoda&Kato,2001;Matahwa等,2008),但据我们所知,PAA在纤维素纤维-Ca(OH)2-CO2体系中的作用尚未研究过。
在有PAA的情况下的实验使用三种不同的纤维浓度进行,即1.0重量%、3.0重量%和6.0重量%,其中纤维与CO2的固定比例为0.5。因此改变PAA和Ca(OH)2浓度的影响以确定其对所得复合物的影响。
总结在表II和图4中的结果表明,在微纤维浓度为1.0重量%且Ca(OH)2浓度为69重量%时,PAA浓度的增加最初引起PCC粒径增加。SEM图像(图4)显示这是由于增加的聚集和纳米颗粒簇形成。PAA在本体溶液中抑制成核的能力可以通过支持聚集体生长而促进该过程。所形成的PCC颗粒被拉长并且具有米状形状(PAA浓度0.5重量%),类似于图4C中所见的那些,但略大。在1.0和3.0重量%的PAA浓度下,PCC晶体更圆,参见图4B。差异可能是由PAA导致的暂时的ACC稳定化引起的,但这未得到证实。在PAA的存在下沉淀时,Matahva等(2008)获得了类似的CaCO3颗粒,并且这些归因于与等(2007)所获得的类似的ACC-PAA凝胶。其记载了被PAA暂时稳定化的粘性ACC凝胶的形成,其在失去其稳定性后沉淀成更稳定的多晶型物。
令人惊奇地,PAA在3.0重量%的微纤维浓度下的影响与在1.0重量%下相反。随着PAA剂量从0.3重量%增加到3.3重量%,PCC晶体尺寸增加,晶体变长。晶体保持其拉长形状,但当PAA浓度进一步增加时晶体尺寸增加。在非常低且固定的PAA浓度(0.06重量%)和3.0重量%的微纤维浓度下,Ca(OH)2从32重量%增加到69重量%导致PCC晶体粒径显著降低。在51重量%至69重量%之间的Ca(OH)2浓度下观察到明显的晶相转变区域,其中颗粒形态从约1微米的圆形晶体变为具有更大的纵横比(长度约1μm且宽度0.2μm)的更长的PCC晶体。在添加32重量%的Ca(OH)2情况下,晶体在6.0重量%的微纤维浓度下比在3.0重量%下更长。微纤维浓度从3.0重量%增加到6.0重量%产生在添加32重量%至51重量%的Ca(OH)2之间的晶体相转变区域。
然而,当PAA的浓度增加到10.0重量%时,发现沉积在微纤维上的大的PCC晶体和成簇(clustered)的PCC团聚物的粒径和量显著降低,但是仍然形成一些单独的纳米尺寸的PCC晶体颗粒并且存在于微纤维表面上(这里未示出)。图4A显示当PAA浓度进一步增加到100.0重量%时,在微纤维的表面上PCC晶体形成受到抑制,这通过在干燥之前清洗的样品中的较低的灰分含量得以证实。
一些微纤维-PAA-CaCO3复合物的灰分含量(在干燥前清洗)明显低于未反应的Ca(OH)2所应该产生的。这只能够通过在样品通过0.6μm膜过滤和随后的清洗过程中除去本体溶液中的可溶性化合物或纳米晶体来解释。过滤期间的结晶材料的明显损失应该意味着增加剂量的PAA会促进本体溶液沉淀,而不是如文献中通常所述的那样使其降低(Hosoda&Kato,2001;Huang等,2007;Watamura等,2014)。一个可能的替代方案是在本体溶液中的异相成核,通过以类似于添加PAA可以改进纤维素纤维上的结晶的方式添加PAA来改进,即通过钙离子和聚合电解质(PAA)的阴离子基团和外部颗粒之间的静电相互作用。然而,在这些实验中收集的滤液不支持本体溶液沉淀,因为滤液是透明的,这表明没有结晶物质并且表明如文献中所报道的,存在无定形透明的ACC(Gower&Odom,2000;Saghavaz,2013),或复合物。羧基和钙离子之间的静电复合物的形成频繁地记载于文献中(Hosoda&Kato,2001;Huang等,2007;Ouhenia等,2008;等,2007;Watamura等,2014),并且归因于含ACC的凝胶的形成(Matahwa等,2008;等,2007),表明PAA在体系中的作用是稳定ACC或形成前体或复合物,或两者。

XRD和TGA
使用XRD表征有和没有沉淀碳酸钙的十个微纤维-PCC样品。在13°-48°的2θ范围内收集衍射图。
XRD结果显示出不同的纤维素结晶形式,其中它们的一些之间有略微的峰值偏移。在样品0、5和6中发现位于20-22°处的纤维素的主峰(Haleem等,2014;Obi等,2014;Tibolla等,2014),其非常尖,但位于相同角度处的方解石峰使得难以可靠地确定样品中结晶纤维素的存在。然而,在所有衍射图中均清楚地观察到源自34.6°处的纤维素的较小峰,除了样品1和3。因此认为这两个样品中纤维素Iβ的存在是可能的。在纤维参考(参照)样品的情况下,怀疑纤维素Iα和纤维素Iβ共同存在。
在样品中观察到的唯一的CaCO3多晶型物是方解石,尽管在文献中具有不同分子量的一些PAA与文石的形成有关(Ouhenia等,2008;Watamura等,2014)。在所有样品中均观察到方解石峰(Kim,等,2013;Kirboga等,2014;López-Periago等,2010),除了0(纤维参考(参照))以及5和6(Ca(OH)2 69重量%,CO2进料0.5l/min以及PAA浓度50.0和100.0重量%)。样品5和6的灰分含量(525±25℃)分别为8.2%和4.0%,证实样品5和6明显含有足够的灰分从而在XRD测量中是可检测的,即其是否是结晶的。
对于样品5和6,不存在结晶Ca(OH)2和结晶CaCO3表明样品中的高PAA浓度导致无定形CaCO3的形成和稳定化。无定形ACC的不稳定特性是众所周知的,但是尽管在沉淀实验和XRD测量之间存在很长的延迟时间,却没有观察到可用XRD检测到的结晶材料的相转变,即便用SEM观察到了存在于纤维上的颗粒物质并且样品的灰分含量表明如果结晶的话无机物的浓度可用XRD检测到也是如此。

结果表明,所有样品都含有未反应的Ca(OH)2,样品中的Ca(OH)2的量通常为无机物质的约5重量%,明显例外是样品5,其在50重量%的高PAA浓度存在下形成。结果与来自TAPPI灰分含量测量的转化率估算值大致一致。然而,在XRD分析中未发现剩余的Ca(OH)2,表明该材料不是结晶的或者其存在于CaCO3颗粒或微纤维中,离该颗粒表面太远而不能通过该方法测定。另一方面,TGA结果还可能干扰在525℃和较高温度下的物理吸附水的释放,Ca(OH)2的可能的二羟基化(Renaudina等,2008)。
鉴于以上对本发明的详细描述,其他修改和变化对于本领域技术人员而言将变得显而易见。然而,应该显而易见的是,在不脱离本发明的精神和范围的情况下,可以实现这样的其他修改和变化。

Claims (9)
1.用于制备沉淀在天然纤维上的稳定的无定形碳酸钙的方法,包括以下步骤:
a)将水、基于纤维重量计40至120重量%的在溶液中的至少一种高度带电的阴离子聚合物、基于批料的总干重计1-100重量%的Ca(OH)2和基于批料的总干重计0.1至95重量%的天然纤维混合,
其中批料的干物质的各组分之和等于100%;
b)在搅拌期间向步骤a)的混合物进料CO2以获得沉淀;
c)干燥混合物或过滤在步骤b)中获得的沉淀固体物。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中在步骤a)中使用60-80重量%的Ca(OH)2。
3.根据权利要求1或2所述的方法,其中高度带电的阴离子聚合物是聚丙烯酸或其盐。
4.根据权利要求1或2所述的方法,其中使用0.5至5重量%的木质纤维素纤维作为天然纤维。
5.根据权利要求4所述的方法,其中使用0.5至1.5重量%的木质纤维素纤维作为天然纤维。
6.根据权利要求4所述的方法,其中使用2.5至3.5重量%的木质纤维素纤维作为天然纤维。
7.根据权利要求1或2中任一项所述的方法,其中使用的纤维未经表面改性。
8.根据权利要求1或2中任一项所述的方法,其中所述纤维选自微晶纤维素、纳米纤维素、或其混合物。
9.根据权利要求1或2中任一项所述的方法,其中所述纤维选自微纤化纤维素、细菌纤维素或纤维素纳米晶体。
