背景技术
通常,诸如液晶显示器(LCD)或有机发光显示器(OLED)的平板显示器是包括像素阵列的显示设备。像素阵列包括多个像素。多个像素例如可以以矩阵形式连接在扫描线和数据线之间。

根据本公开的实施例,提供了一种平板显示器,包括:基板,包括显示区域和在所述显示区域的外围的非显示区域;像素阵列,设置在所述基板的所述显示区域中,所述像素阵列显示图像;输入焊盘部,设置在所述基板的所述非显示区域中;接合焊盘部,设置在所述基板的所述非显示区域中,所述接合焊盘部包括连接到所述像素阵列的多个输出焊盘和连接到所述输入焊盘部的多个输入焊盘;以及保护层,设置在所述基板的所述非显示区域中,所述保护层具有开口,所述开口形成在所述保护层中,使所述接合焊盘部和所述输入焊盘部中的至少部分露出,其中所述保护层的所述开口小于所述接合焊盘部,并且所述保护层与所述接合焊盘部的所述短边的一部分重叠。
所述平板显示器还可以包括:至少两条电力线,将所述输入焊盘部连接到所述接合焊盘部的所述输入焊盘,所述至少两条电力线被供应有彼此不同的电压。至少一条电力线可以与所述接合焊盘部的短边相交。

参考图1,基板10包括显示区域20以及在显示区域20的外围的非显示区域30。
显示图像的像素阵列13设置在基板10的显示区域20中。
根据实施例,输入焊盘部40、接合焊盘部50、以及用于将输入焊盘部40和接合焊盘部50连接并且将接合焊盘部50和像素阵列13连接的各种导线60设置在基板10的非显示区域30中。各种导线60包括电力线和信号线。
此外,根据实施例,其中形成有开口的保护层70形成在基板10的非显示区域30中,使得输入焊盘部40和接合焊盘部50中的至少部分通过该开口而露出。
根据实施例,用于密封显示区域20的封装基板或封装薄膜设置在基板10上,包括非显示区域30的一部分、显示区域20、以及像素阵列13。
根据实施例,基板10以由玻璃、树脂、高分子化合物等制成的板或膜的形状被形成。
根据实施例,像素阵列13包括多个像素。每个像素包括例如有机发光二极管(OLED)。多个像素例如以矩阵形式连接在多条扫描线和多条数据线之间。
参考图2,根据实施例,有机发光二极管130包括阳电极131、阴电极134、以及在阳电极131和阴电极134之间的有机发射层133。有机发射层133形成在由像素限定层132限定的发射区域的阳电极131上,并且包括空穴注入层、空穴传输层、电子传输层和电子注入层。
此外,根据实施例,对有机发光二极管130的操作进行控制的薄膜晶体管110和对信号进行保持的电容器被连接到有机发光二极管130。薄膜晶体管110包括:半导体层112,提供源区和漏区以及沟道区;栅电极114,通过栅绝缘层113与半导体层112绝缘;以及源电极和漏电极116,通过形成于绝缘层115和栅绝缘层113中的接触孔被连接到半导体层112的源区和漏区。附加部件包括缓冲层111和平坦化绝缘层117。
根据实施例,输入焊盘部40包括被布置在基板10的一条边缘上的多个焊盘42,并且通过多个焊盘42从外部接收用于显示图像的各种驱动电力(电压)以及信号。
根据实施例,接合焊盘部50设置在像素阵列13和输入焊盘部40之间。接合焊盘部50包括:多个输出焊盘52,连接到像素阵列13;以及多个输入焊盘54,连接到输入焊盘部40的各个焊盘42。集成电路(IC)芯片作为驱动电路被安装在接合焊盘部50上,该驱动电路对通过输入焊盘部40从外部接收的信号进行处理,并且将处理后的信号发送给像素阵列13。
图3是图1所示的接合焊盘部50的放大平面图。图4是沿图3的线A1-A2截取的剖视图。图5是沿图3的线B1-B2截取的剖视图。
根据实施例,包含有像素阵列13的器件形成层设置在基板10上,并且输入焊盘部40、接合焊盘部50和各种导线60设置在该器件形成层上。
参考图3至图5,根据实施例,保护层70具有开口70a,该开口70a使接合焊盘部50的至少一部分通过其而露出。开口70a小于接合焊盘部50。此外,保护层70在与接合焊盘部50重叠的部分处比在其他部分处更薄。
特别地,根据实施例,与其他部分相比,保护层70在其与接合焊盘部50的短边的一部分重叠的那部分处更薄。也就是说,在保护层70中,在与接合焊盘部50的短边相重叠的部分处形成有台阶差。
根据实施例,图4和图5是示出IC芯片80被安装在通过保护层70的开口70a而露出的接合焊盘部50上这种状态的剖视图。
根据实施例,IC芯片80的凸块84和82通过各向异性导电膜90的导电球92被电连接到接合焊盘部50的输入焊盘54和输出焊盘52。
根据实施例,如果将各向异性导电膜90设置在接合焊盘部50和IC芯片80之间,并且通过诸如热压缩等工艺对IC芯片80进行压缩,则导电球92会断裂,因此,凸块84和82可以被电连接到输入焊盘54和输出焊盘52。
参考图5,根据实施例,用于将接合焊盘部50的输入焊盘54与输入焊盘部40连接的至少两条电力线60a和60b被设置成与接合焊盘部50的短边相交,并且被供应有彼此不同的电压。在这种情况下,由于保护层70与接合焊盘部50的短边的一部分重叠,因此电力线60a和60b被设置在保护层70的下部。
通常,根据实施例,通过半导体工艺在晶片上制造IC芯片80,然后通过切割工艺使该IC芯片80与晶片分离。
使用诸如铝(Al)等导电材料在晶片的最外侧边缘处标记字符或数字,使得晶片可彼此区别。在这种情况下,由于在从晶片中分离IC芯片80的过程中的对准误差,标记区域中的导电材料可能会残留在IC芯片80的短边的边缘处。
根据实施例,图6是示出具有残留在其短边的边缘处的导电材料88的IC芯片80被安装在接合焊盘部50上这种状态的剖视图。如果保护层70的开口70a具有与接合焊盘部50相同的尺寸,则各向异性导电膜90被插入于导电材料88与电力线60a和60b之间。因此,当电力线60a和60b被供应有不同的电压时,导电材料88与电力线60a和60b可能会通过导电球92而短路,从而导致故障。
例如,两条电力线60a和60b中的一条可以是被供应有对早期阶段由基板10的裂纹引起的故障进行检测的电压(例如,4.0V)的电力线,并且另一条可以是被供应有对像素阵列13进行驱动的驱动电压(例如,6.7V)的电力线。
然而,根据本公开的实施例,由于保护层70如图5所示与接合焊盘部50的短边的一部分重叠,所以电力线60a和60b可以设置在保护层70的下部。因此,即使当导电材料88残留在IC芯片80的短边的边缘处时,也能够预先防止两条电力线60a和60b之间的短路。
虽然已经描述了两条电力线60a和60b双方都被设置在保护层70的下部以与接合焊盘部50的短边相交的结构,但实施例不限于此。例如,在另一实施例中,电力线60a和60b中的一个可以被设置在保护层70的下部,以与接合焊盘部50的短边相交。
虽然已经描述了将两条电力线60a和60b设置在同一平面上的结构,但实施例不限于此。例如,在另一实施例中,两条电力线60a和60b可以设置在不同的层中,在这两条电力线60a和60b之间插入有绝缘层。
虽然已经描述了在其中例如包括数据驱动电路功能的IC芯片80被安装在接合焊盘部50上的平板显示器,但显而易见的是,其他实施例可以包括在其中包括扫描驱动电路功能的IC芯片可被安装在接合焊盘部50上的平板显示器。
图7是示出根据本公开另一实施例的平板显示器的剖视图,其示出了沿图3的线B1-B2截取的剖面。
根据实施例,除了形成为具有第一层72和第二层74的堆叠结构的保护层70之外,图7的平板显示器与图5的平板显示器类似,其中第一层72的一部分与接合焊盘部50重叠。
根据实施例,诸如层间绝缘层和像素限定层等由有机材料制成的多个层被包括在包含有像素阵列13的器件形成层中。例如,在形成层间绝缘层的过程中形成第一层72,并且在形成像素限定层的过程中形成第二层74,使得本公开的实施例可以被容易地实现,而无需增加单独的光刻工艺等。
图8是示出根据本公开另一实施例的平板显示器的平面图。
参考图8,根据实施例,保护层70包括设置在保护层70的侧部的至少一个凹部70b和至少一个凸部70c,该至少一个凹部70b和至少一个凸部70c与接合焊盘部50重叠;并且至少一条电力线60a或60b设置在保护层70的下部,与凸部70c重叠。
根据实施例,凹部70b和凸部70c可以具有诸如矩形、球形或锯齿形等各种形状。
根据实施例,如果保护层70由有机材料形成,则当各向异性导电膜90被设置在接合焊盘部50和IC芯片80之间时,由于保护层70的弹力或恢复力,IC芯片80没有被完全粘附到接合焊盘部50。因此,可以通过诸如热压缩等工艺对IC芯片80进行压缩。所以,凸块84和82与焊盘54和52之间的接触可能较差。在这种情况下,使恢复力分散在凹部70b的空间中,因此IC芯片80能够被容易地粘附到接合焊盘部50。因此,当IC芯片80被完全粘附到接合焊盘部50时,凸块84和82与焊盘54和52之间的电接触是稳定的,并且能够防止接触故障。
根据本公开的实施例,当在基板的非显示区域中形成保护层之后形成通过其而使输入焊盘部和接合焊盘部露出的开口时,开口被形成为使得保护层与接合焊盘部的一部分重叠。
根据实施例,与接合焊盘部的短边相交的导线(诸如电力线等)设置在保护层的下部。因此,当IC芯片被安装在接合焊盘部上时,能够有效地防止IC芯片与接合焊盘部或电力线之间并不期望的电气短路。
此外,根据本公开的另一实施例,凹部和凸部形成在保护层的侧部,该凹部和凸部与接合焊盘部的一部分重叠,使得当IC芯片被完全粘附到接合焊盘部时,可以进行电接触。

Claims (10)

1.一种平板显示器,包括:
基板,包括显示区域和在所述显示区域的外围的非显示区域;
像素阵列,设置在所述基板的所述显示区域中,所述像素阵列显示图像;
输入焊盘部,设置在所述基板的所述非显示区域中;
接合焊盘部,设置在所述基板的所述非显示区域中,所述接合焊盘部包括连接到所述像素阵列的多个输出焊盘和连接到所述输入焊盘部的多个输入焊盘;以及
保护层,设置在所述基板的所述非显示区域中,所述保护层具有开口,所述开口形成在所述保护层中,使所述接合焊盘部和所述输入焊盘部中的至少部分露出,
其中所述保护层的所述开口小于所述接合焊盘部,
其中所述保护层在与所述接合焊盘部重叠的部分处比在与所述接合焊盘部不重叠的部分处更薄。
2.根据权利要求1所述的平板显示器,进一步包括:
至少两条电力线,将所述输入焊盘部连接到所述接合焊盘部的所述输入焊盘,所述至少两条电力线被供应有彼此不同的电压,
其中至少一条电力线与所述接合焊盘部的短边相交。
3.根据权利要求2所述的平板显示器,其中
所述至少一条电力线被供应有对由所述基板的裂纹引起的故障进行检测的电压和对所述像素阵列进行驱动的电压中的一个。
4.根据权利要求2所述的平板显示器,其中
所述保护层与所述接合焊盘部的所述短边的一部分重叠。
5.根据权利要求4所述的平板显示器,其中所述保护层进一步包括:
位于所述保护层的侧部的凹部和凸部,所述凹部和凸部与所述接合焊盘部的所述短边重叠,
其中所述至少一条电力线设置在所述保护层的下部,并且与所述保护层的所述凸部重叠。
6.根据权利要求2所述的平板显示器,其中
所述至少两条电力线设置在不同的层中,在所述至少两条电力线之间插入有绝缘层。
7.根据权利要求1所述的平板显示器,进一步包括:
集成电路芯片,安装在所述接合焊盘部上,所述集成电路芯片被电连接到所述输入焊盘和所述输出焊盘,
其中所述集成电路芯片的短边的一部分与所述保护层重叠。
8.根据权利要求7所述的平板显示器,进一步包括:
各向异性导电膜,包括插入于所述接合焊盘部和所述集成电路芯片之间的多个导电球。
9.根据权利要求1所述的平板显示器,其中
所述保护层由有机材料制成。
10.根据权利要求1所述的平板显示器,其中
所述保护层以包括第一层和第二层的堆叠结构被形成,并且所述第一层的一部分与所述接合焊盘部重叠。
