概览

可逆连接器细节

示例过程

图5描绘了在其中根据可逆连接器的朝向设定信号路由的示例过程500。附件设备的连接器与主机计算设备的附件端口的连接被检测到,连接器和附件端口被配置为支持连接器与附件端口的可逆连接(框502)。例如,与主机计算设备102相关联一个或多个微控制器202可被配置成识别各种设备到附件端口210的连接。检测可以按各种方式发生。在一种办法中,一个或多个微控制器202能够检测在连接器211成功附连到附件接口210时附件设备发送的信号。所述信号可以包括逻辑状态、电压输入信号、脉冲模式、静态电阻值等等。替换地,主机计算设备102可被配置成轮询附件端口210以例如通过监视检测线和读取对应于附件的电阻值来确定何时设备与其附连或解除附连。附连可以启动进一步的处理以确定与附件相关联的身份和/或设备类型以及连接器的朝向。随后,在主机和附件之间的信号路由线和/或通信接口可以被配置为匹配附件的类型和连接器的朝向。
具体而言,在附件设备附连之后,连接器与附件端口的连接的朝向被确定(框504)。可用各种方法来分辨朝向。通常,基于在在此所述的检测引脚上采样的信号来确定朝向。在连接器连接时传递的特定的值和/或模式指示了设备类型以及连接器的朝向。随后,主机计算设备的切换机制被配置成根据朝向自动地路由信号(框506)。例如,主机计算设备的一个或多个微控制器202可操作上以先前所述的基于连接器211的所确定的朝向设定信号路径的方式配置切换机制310。这可以涉及对与切换机制310相关联的复用器312和开关314的定位。另外或替换地,微控制器202可以与附件设备104的微控制器206通信以通知附件设备关于连接器的朝向和/或引导附件设备104来相应地重新配置附件侧的切换机制以设定合适的信号路由。以此方式,无论连接器的朝向如何,信号路径的终点都可以保持相同。这样,顾客可以将附件通过可逆电缆以任一朝向(正向或逆向)插入到主机设备,并且系统自动确定朝向并确保信号没有被混合。
在一个或多个实现中,专用的检测引脚可以被用于热插拔检测和朝向分辨,如在此所述。所述检测可以基于施加到检测线的电压(例如5V)和响应于所施加的电压获得/读取的引脚的对应逻辑状态,例如高=1或低=0。检测线的逻辑状态的不同的可能组合可以与一组检测情形相关联,每个检测情形对应于一种类型的设备和/或连接器211的一种朝向。与所述检测引脚相关联的线可以被一起(例如并行或顺序地)采样,并且不同的线所获得的值可以被组合在一起以导出指示设备类型和/或连接器朝向的经组合的逻辑状态。因此,可以建立反映逻辑状态组合(或其它凭证/附件标识符)与对应的检测情形的映射的表格、文件、数据库或其它数据结构。在操作中,一个或多个微控制器202可以监视检测引脚并获得每根检测线上的值。微控制器202可以利用可能的逻辑状态组合与对应的检测情形的映射来分辨设备类型和连接器朝向。
关于设备类型,逻辑状态组合提供了一种允许主机在不同类型的设备之间进行区分的机制。具体而言,检测到的逻辑状态组合指示设备是可以通过单根将RX和TX组合的线进行通信的一根线设备还是将两根不同的线用于RX和TX的两根线设备。一根线设备可以是相对简化且低成本的设备,它没有使用复杂的通信方案,例如基本功率适配器或外部电池。两根线设备可以是提供涉及高级接口、高速通信和/或多种类型的数据/协议的功能的设备,例如坞站、多媒体附件等等。
在一对检测引脚(例如HPD1A和HPD1B(例如引脚A 302和引脚B 304))被分配用于热插拔检测的情况下,存在四种可能的逻辑状态组合,例如高-高、高-低、低-高和低-低。逻辑状态指示了设备类型(例如一根线或两根线)并还可以被用于直接或间接地分辨连接器的朝向。具体而言,在缺少相连的附件的情况下,引脚HPD1A和HPD1B没有被声明(例如在低状态)。当附件设备被连接到主机时,HPD1A和HPD1B的特定状态组合确定了附件类型。对于一根线设备,可以确定在其上声明了高状态的线。因此,一根线的设备的逻辑状态组合也反映了连接器朝向并可被直接用于确定朝向。对于两根线设备,这两根线都具有高状态,并且由此逻辑状态组合可能不足以分辨朝向。因此,可以执行如下所述的附加处理以确定两根线设备的朝向。
由此,对于检测引脚HPD1A和HPD1B,下述示出了显示可能的逻辑状态组合与检测情形的示例映射的说明性表格:

根据上述表格,值1,1(高-高)指示两根线附件,1,0(高-低)指示正向朝向的一根线附件,0,1(低-高)指示逆向朝向的一根线附件,而0,0(低-低)指示没有附件被附连。在使用诸如表格1的示例的映射确定了设备类型之后,附加处理可以发生以执行设备的认证/授权,确定设备的特定身份和/或性能(与仅仅是一根线对比两根线的确定相对而言),并设定主机和/或附件的切换机制以适当地路由信号。
例如,对于一根线设备,通过声明的引脚(HPD1A或HPD1B)可以发生采样以标识并授权设备。这可以涉及如前所述的各种不同的认证技术。所述认证允许主机/微控制器识别不支持的附件并基于特定附件身份确定所支持的附件的具体配置信息以相应地配置该接口和信号路由。例如,附件设备可被配置成以之前提及的各种方式将凭证220提供给主机。在一种办法中,附件设备被配置成展示指示身份的相应电阻值以供主机计算设备读取。不同的电阻值可以与不同的附件相关联。由此,当附件被连接时,主机计算设备可以读取对应的电阻值并且在此基础上在不同的附件之间进行区分。替换地,其他凭证220可以被附件传递给主机以指示其身份,诸如发送特定数字代码、ID字段值、设备名称等。
如所述,当附连的附件是两根线设备时,逻辑状态组合不足以实现朝向确定。在这种情况下,通过认证序列来分辨朝向。为此,所支持的两根线设备可以被配置为通过任一信号线或这两根信号线将凭证220提供给主机。在这种情况下,针对HPD1A或HPD1B两者发生采样以标识并授权该两根线设备。在一种方案中,这两根线设备可以具有与一根或这两根线相关联的ID电阻,并可以展示指示该身份的电阻值。再次,附件还可以将其它凭证220传送给主机以指示其身份。随后,可以基于每根线的ID有效性状态(例如有效或无效)与可能的朝向情形的映射来确定朝向。由此,对于检测引脚HPD1A和HPD1B,下述示出了显示ID有效性状态朝向情形的示例映射的说明性表格:

示例系统和设备

Claims (18)

基于经由在连接器中所分配的一对检测引脚所传递的信号检测所述连接器到所述主机计算设备的附件端口的连接;
基于所述信号确定所述连接器到附件端口的连接的朝向,其中所述信号指示检测引脚对的逻辑状态组合,所述逻辑状态组合指示经由所述连接器连接的附件设备是一根线设备还是两根线设备,其中所述一根线设备的RX和TX线被组合成单根线,而所述两根线设备使用分开的RX和TX线;以及
配置所述主机计算设备的切换机制以根据所确定的朝向和所述逻辑状态组合来路由信号。

8.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于,确定所述连接器的所述连接的朝向包括:
对与所述连接器的所分配的检测引脚相关联的信号进行采样以确定所述附件设备的设备类型为一根线设备或两根线设备;以及
当所述设备类型是一根线设备时,从所采样的信号中直接确定所述连接的朝向;或
当所述设备类型是两根线设备时,通过认证序列来分辨所述朝向,在所述认证序列中所述附件设备所提供的凭证被用于建立指示所述朝向的所述检测引脚的有效性状态。
9.如权利要求8所述的方法,其特征在于,其中由所述附件设备提供的所述凭证包括通过所述检测引脚形成的一个或多个检测线上展示的一个或多个电阻值。
10.一种主机计算设备,包括:
一个或多个微控制器;
可连接到附件设备的连接器的附件端口;
存储指令的一个或多个计算机可读介质,所述指令在经由所述一个或多个微控制器执行时致使所述主机计算设备执行各种操作,所述操作包括:
通过与所述连接器集成的一对检测引脚检测所述连接器到所述附件端口中的插入;
获得通过检测引脚对传递的高和低逻辑状态的逻辑状态组合;
基于所述逻辑状态组合确定所述附件设备的设备类型为一根线设备或两根线设备;
确定插入在所述附件端口中的所述连接器的朝向包括:
当所述设备类型是一根线设备时,从所述逻辑状态组合中直接确定所述连接的朝向;或
当所述设备类型是两根线设备时,通过所述检测引脚对对所述附件设备的一个或多个身份电阻的电阻值进行采样以建立指示所述朝向的有效性状态;以及
根据所述设备类型和所确定的朝向设定信号路由;
其中所述一根线设备的RX和TX线被组合成单根线,而所述两根线设备使用分开的RX和TX线。
11.如权利要求10所述的主机计算设备,其特征在于,根据所述设备类型和所确定的朝向设定信号路由包括根据所确定的朝向来配置切换机制以在正向或逆向信号路径中路由信号。
12.如权利要求10所述的主机计算设备,其特征在于,基于所述逻辑状态组合确定所述设备类型包括参考可能的逻辑状态组合与检测情形的映射以标识所述设备类型。
13.如权利要求10所述的主机计算设备,其特征在于,所述指令还使得所述主机计算设备对由所述附件设备提供的凭证进行采样以确定所述附件设备是被授权与所述主机计算设备交互的经授权设备还是与其交互受到限制的不支持的设备。
14.如权利要求10所述的主机计算设备,其特征在于,所述指令经由对应于所述主机计算设备的一个或多个微控制器的固件来实现,并且所述一个或多个微控制器被配置成独立于所述主机计算设备的主处理系统来操作。
15.存储有指令的一个或多个计算机可读存储介质,在通过主机计算设备的处理系统执行所述指令时,实现一个执行下述操作的安全模块:
基于通过一对与附件设备的连接器集成的检测引脚获得的逻辑状态组合检测所述连接器与所述主机计算设备的附件端口的连接,所述连接器和附件端口被配置为支持所述连接器与所述附件端口的可逆连接;
根据所述逻辑状态组合标识所述附件设备的设备类型,所述逻辑状态组合指示经由所述连接器连接的所述附件设备是一根线设备还是两根线设备,其中所述一根线设备的RX和TX线被组合成单根线,而所述两根线设备使用分开的RX和TX线;
确定所述连接器到所述附件端口的连接朝向;以及
配置所述主机计算设备的切换机制以根据所标识的设备类型和所确定的朝向自动地路由信号。
16.如权利要求15所述的一个或多个计算机可读存储介质,其特征在于,检测引脚对形成接口以支持热插拔检测和用于设备认证、功率交换以及信号路由控制的通信。
17.如权利要求15所述的一个或多个计算机可读存储介质,其特征在于,
设定所述主机计算设备的开关和复用器的位置以根据确定的朝向产生正向或逆向信号路径;以及
将命令发送给所述附件设备以导致在所述主机计算设备的引导下通过所述附件设备的信号切换组件在附件侧设定信号路由。
18.如权利要求15所述的一个或多个计算机可读存储介质,其特征在于,标识所述设备类型包括确定所述附件设备是一根线设备还是两根线设备。
