本发明涉及一种制备纤维强化复合材料的方法及包含纤维的自由基可固化组合物。
基于聚合物的材料可经纤维强化以便增加刚性且阻止裂纹扩展。薄纤维可具有极高强度,且倘若其以机械方式良好地连接至基材,其可大大地改进组合物的整体特性。
存在两个主要类别的纤维强化复合材料:短纤维强化材料及连续纤维强化材料。连续强化材料通常构成层化或层压结构。编织及连续纤维类型通常以多种形式可供使用,经树脂浸渍。
短纤维通常用于压制成型及片材成型操作中。其形式有薄片、碎片或随机配对物。常见的用于加强的纤维包括玻璃纤维、碳纤维、纤维素纤维(木纤维、纸纤维、稻草)、高强度聚合物(如芳族聚酰胺)及天然纤维。
通常于树脂固化中应用氧化还原体系。已知氧化还原体系包含氧化剂(例如过氧化物)及可溶性过渡金属离子作为促进剂。促进剂用于增大氧化剂在低温下的活性,且因此加快固化速率。
典型促进剂体系包含过渡金属盐或配合物。用于此目的的最常用的过渡金属为钴。
基于钴的氧化还原体系于无水体系中运作极其良好。然而,一旦树脂组合物含有大量水,固化即会受到不利影响,导致较长凝胶时间及较低放热峰。此意谓所有纤维必须在其用于制备纤维强化复合物之前完全干燥。因此,吸引来自氛围的水的纤维及含水(天然)的纤维必须在使用之前完全干燥且甚至需要在干燥氛围下使用。
现已出人意料地发现基于Cu、Mn和/或Fe化合物的氧化还原体系在含水纤维存在下运作良好。此外,固化体系与含水纤维组合使用引起所得纤维强化复合材料的明显改进的特性,例如与由干燥纤维或干燥的基于Co的体系制得的复合物相比强度增加、刚度减小及减震更优选。
本发明因此涉及一种制备复合材料的方法,该方法包括使如下物质接触的步骤:(i)自由基可固化树脂,(ii)以纤维总重量计总水含量为5-20重量%的纤维,(iii)至少一种选自锰、铁和铜化合物的过渡金属化合物,及(iv)过氧化物。
本发明还涉及一种自由基可固化组合物,其包含(i)自由基可固化树脂,(ii)以纤维总重量计总水含量为0.5-20重量%的纤维,及(iii)至少一种选自锰、铁和铜化合物的过渡金属化合物。
本发明进一步关于一种两组分组合物,其包含该自由基可固化组合物(组分A)及过氧化物(组分B)作为独立组分,可混合该独立组分以引发固化。
适于根据本发明固化的树脂包括醇酸树脂、不饱和聚酯(UP)树脂、乙烯基酯树脂、(甲基)丙烯酸酯树脂。优选树脂为(甲基)丙烯酸酯树脂、UP树脂及乙烯基酯树脂。
自由基可固化树脂可与其他类型树脂(如环氧树脂)组合。可用于本发明方法的优选树脂组合为UP树脂及环氧树脂的组合。
在本申请的上下文中,术语“不饱和聚酯树脂”及“UP树脂”指不饱和聚酯树脂及烯属不饱和单体化合物的组合。术语“乙烯基酯树脂”指通过环氧树脂与不饱和单羧酸的酯化而制造且溶解于烯属不饱和单体化合物(例如苯乙烯)中的树脂。如上文所定义的UP树脂及乙烯基酯树脂为惯例且可购得的。
适于通过本发明方法固化的UP树脂为所谓邻苯型树脂、间苯型树脂、间苯-新二醇型树脂及二环戊二烯(DCPD)树脂。该类树脂的实例为顺丁烯二酸型树脂、反丁烯二酸型树脂、烯丙基型树脂、乙烯型树脂及环氧型树脂、双酚A树脂、对苯二甲酸树脂及杂化树脂。
本申请中,不含其他烯属不饱和单体化合物(如苯乙烯)的丙烯酸酯及甲基丙烯酸脂树脂称为(甲基)丙烯酸酯树脂。
适于存在于UP及乙烯基酯树脂中的烯属不饱和单体的实例包括苯乙烯及苯乙烯衍生物,如α-甲基苯乙烯、乙烯基甲苯、茚、二乙烯基苯、乙烯基吡咯烷酮、乙烯基硅氧烷、乙烯基己内酰胺、芪、以及邻苯二甲酸二烯丙酯、二苯亚甲基丙酮、烯丙基苯、甲基丙烯酸甲酯、丙烯酸甲酯、(甲基)丙烯酸、二丙烯酸酯、二甲基丙烯酸酯、丙烯酰胺、乙酸乙烯酯、三聚氰酸三烯丙酯、异氰尿酸三烯丙酯、用于光学应用的烯丙基化合物(如(二)乙二醇二烯丙基碳酸酯)、氯苯乙烯、叔丁基苯乙烯、丙烯酸叔胺酯、丁二醇二甲基丙烯酸酯、双顺丁烯二酰亚胺、双柠康酰亚胺、双衣康酰亚胺、单衣康酰亚胺、单柠康酰亚胺、含有官能基(例如另一不饱和官能基,例如正烯丙基柠康酰亚胺)的单柠康酰亚胺及其混合物。(甲基)丙烯酸酯反应性稀释剂的适合实例为PEG200二(甲基)丙烯酸酯、1,4-丁二醇二(甲基)丙烯酸酯、1,3-丁二醇二(甲基)丙烯酸酯、2,3-丁二醇二(甲基)丙烯酸酯、1,6-己二醇二(甲基)丙烯酸酯及其异构体、二甘醇二(甲基)丙烯酸酯、三甘醇二(甲基)丙烯酸酯、二(甲基)丙烯酸甘油酯、三羟甲基丙烷二(甲基)丙烯酸酯、新戊二醇二(甲基)丙烯酸酯、二丙二醇二(甲基)丙烯酸酯、三丙二醇二(甲基)丙烯酸酯、PPG250二(甲基)丙烯酸酯、三环癸烷二羟甲基二(甲基)丙烯酸酯、1,10-癸二醇二(甲基)丙烯酸酯、四乙二醇二(甲基)丙烯酸酯、三羟甲基丙烷三(甲基)丙烯酸酯、(甲基)丙烯酸缩水甘油酯及其混合物。
欲使用的烯属不饱和单体的量以树脂的重量计优选为至少0.1重量%,更优选为至少1重量%,且最优选为至少5重量%。烯属不饱和单体的量优选不超过50重量%,更优选不超过40重量%,且最优选不超过35重量%。
引入复合材料的纤维充当强化物。适合的纤维的实例为玻璃纤维、耐纶纤维(nylon fibre)、聚酯纤维、芳族聚酰胺纤维(例如)及天然纤维(例如黄麻、洋麻、工业大麻、亚麻(亚麻布)、苎麻、竹子等)。
该类纤维可含有上浆剂或另一添加剂以改进粘着性,如硅烷。
根据本发明使用的纤维的总水含量以湿纤维的总重量计为0.5-20重量%、优选为2-20重量%、更优选为5-15重量%。纤维的水含量可通过将纤维的样品于热风炉中于105℃下干燥1小时且测定重量损失来测定。
纤维优选根据本发明以树脂的重量计以1-60重量%,更优选10-50重量%,甚至更优选15-40重量%,更优选20-40重量%且最优选20-30重量%的量使用。
适合的过渡金属化合物的实例为铁、铜或锰的盐及配合物,及该类化合物的组合。铜和铁为最优选过渡金属。甚至更优选为铜,以及铜和铁的组合。
适合的锰、铜和铁化合物为其卤化物、硝酸盐、硫酸盐、磺酸盐、磷酸盐、膦酸盐、氧化物、羧酸盐以及这些金属与配位体的配合物。适合的羧酸盐的实例为乳酸盐、2-乙基己酸盐、乙酸盐、丙酸盐、丁酸盐、乙二酸盐、月桂酸盐、油酸盐、亚油酸盐、棕榈酸盐、硬脂酸盐、乙酰基丙酮酸盐、辛酸盐、壬酸盐、庚酸盐、新癸酸盐或环烷酸盐。配位体的实例为吡啶及WO 2011/83309中所公开的三齿、四齿、五齿及六齿氮供体配位体。
优选锰化合物为氯化锰、硝酸锰、硫酸锰、乳酸锰、2-乙基己酸锰、辛酸锰、壬酸锰、庚酸锰、新癸酸锰、环烷酸锰及乙酸锰,以及吡啶、卟啉基配位体的Mn配合物,及WO 2011/83309中所公开的三齿、四齿、五齿或六齿氮供体配位体的Mn配合物。可使用Mn(II)、Mn(III)、Mn(IV)及Mn(VII)化合物中的任一个。
优选铜化合物为氯化铜、硝酸铜、硫酸铜、乳酸铜、2-乙基己酸铜、辛酸铜、壬酸铜、庚酸铜、新癸酸铜、环烷酸铜及乙酸铜。Cu(I)及Cu(II)化合物均可使用。
优选铁化合物为氯化铁、硝酸铁、硫酸铁、乳酸铁、2-乙基己酸铁、辛酸铁、壬酸铁、庚酸铁、新癸酸铁、环烷酸铁、乙酸铁,以及吡啶、卟啉基配位体的铁配合物,或WO 2011/83309的三齿、四齿、五齿或六齿氮供体配位体的铁配合物。Fe(II)及Fe(III)均可使用。其更优选为根据WO2011/83309的三齿或五齿氮供体配位体的铁(II)或铁(III)配合物。
对于Mn和Fe两者,根据WO 2011/83309的优选氮供体配位体为bispidon配位体及TACN-Nx配位体。优选bispidon配位体为二甲基-2,4-二-(2-吡啶基)-3-甲基-7-(吡啶-2-基甲基)-3,7-二氮-双环[3.3.1]壬-9-酮-1,5-二甲酸酯(N2py3o-Cl)。优选的TACN-Nx配位体为1,4,7-三甲基-1,4,7-三氮环壬烷(Me3-TACN)。
欲用于本发明的方法及组合物的选自铁、锰、铜及其混合物的过渡金属的总量优选为0.5-75毫摩尔/公斤树脂,更优选为2-50毫摩尔/公斤,甚至更优选为2-25毫摩尔/公斤,且最优选为2-10摩尔/公斤树脂。
除选自铁、锰、铜及其组合的过渡金属外,一种或多种其他过渡金属化合物可存在于本发明的自由基可固化组合物中。适合的金属的实例为钴、钛、钒、锡、铬、镍、钼、锗、锶、钯、铂、铌、锑、铼、锇、铱、铂、金、汞、碲、铷和/或铋化合物。钴化合物由于涉及该金属的法规及毒性问题而为最不优选的。
在一优选实施方案中,本发明的方法不使用除铁、锰和/或铜化合物之外的过渡金属化合物。
在一优选实施方案中,碱金属或碱土金属化合物、含磷化合物和/或1,3-二酮可用于本发明的方法。
1,3-二酮的实例为乙酰基丙酮、苯甲酰基丙酮、及二苯甲酰基甲烷、及乙酰基乙酸酯(如二乙基乙酰基乙酰胺)、二甲基乙酰基乙酰胺、二丙基乙酰基乙酰胺、二丁基乙酰基乙酰胺、乙酰基乙酸甲酯、乙酰基乙酸乙酯、乙酰基乙酸丙酯及乙酰基乙酸丁酯。
碱金属或碱土金属化合物的实例为碱金属或碱土金属羧酸盐,如碱金属及碱土金属的2-乙基己酸盐、辛酸盐、壬酸盐、庚酸盐、新癸酸盐及环烷酸盐。优选碱金属为K。
含磷化合物的实例为具有式P(R)3及P(R)3=O的含磷化合物,其中各R独立地选自氢、具有1至10个碳原子的烷基及具有1至10个碳原子的烷氧基。优选地,至少两个R基团选自烷基或烷氧基。适合含磷化合物的特定实例为磷酸二乙酯、磷酸二丁酯、磷酸三丁酯、磷酸三乙酯(TEP)、亚磷酸二丁酯及磷酸三乙酯。
乙酰基乙酸酯为尤其优选的促进剂。尤其优选为二乙基乙酰基乙酰胺。甚至更优选为二乙基乙酰基乙酰胺与2-乙基己酸钾的组合。还优选为二乙基乙酰基乙酰胺与磷酸二丁酯的组合。
自由基可固化组合物可进一步含有含氮碱,如叔胺,如三乙胺、二甲基苯胺、二乙基苯胺或N,N-二甲基-对甲苯胺(DMPT);多元胺,如1,2-(二甲基胺)乙烷;仲胺,如二乙胺;乙氧基化胺,如三乙醇胺、二甲氨基乙醇、二乙醇胺(DETA)或单乙醇胺;及芳族胺,如联吡啶。
含氮碱优选以0.5-10公克/公斤树脂的量使用。
可存在于本发明的自由基可固化组合物中的任选地选用的添加剂为填充剂、颜料、抑制剂及促进剂。
在一优选实施方案中,自由基可固化组合物包含填充剂。填充剂的实例为石英、砂、氢氧化铝、氢氧化镁、白垩、氢氧化钙、粘土及石灰。
可能需要具有存在于自由基可固化组合物中的还原剂。还原剂的实例为抗坏血酸、甲醛次硫酸钠(SFS)、还原糖(如葡萄糖及果糖)、草酸、膦、亚磷酸盐、有机或无机亚硝酸盐、有机或无机亚硫酸盐、有机或无机硫化物、硫醇及醛,及其混合物。抗坏血酸为优选还原剂,在本说明书中,该术语包括L-抗坏血酸及D-异抗坏血酸。
可以不同方法向自由基可固化树脂中添加过渡金属化合物及一种或多种其他化合物。一种方法涉及向树脂中添加个别化合物,随后添加过氧化物。此举可在临添加过氧化物之前进行或在此之前几天或几周进行。在后一种情况下,我们提及预促进树脂组合物,其包含树脂及促进剂成分且可储存直至进一步与过氧化物一起使用且固化。
另一方法涉及预制备含有过渡金属化合物及任选地选用的一种或多种上文提及的其他化合物的溶液,该溶液可储存直至进一步使用且添加至树脂中(称作“促进剂溶液”)。
预促进树脂可通过将促进剂体系的个别成分添加至树脂中或通过添加这些成分呈促进剂溶液形式的混杂物来制备。
适用于本发明方法的促进剂溶液除过渡金属化合物及上文提及的任选地选用的其他化合物外还可包含一种或多种溶剂。
适合溶剂的实例包括脂族烃溶剂、芳族烃溶剂以及携有醛、酮、醚、酯、醇、磷酸酯或羧酸基团的溶剂。适合溶剂的实例为脂族烃溶剂,如白色石油脑及无味矿油精(OMS);芳族烃溶剂,如环烷烃及环烷烃与石蜡的混合物;异丁醇;戊醇;1,2-二肟;N-甲基吡咯烷酮;N-乙基吡咯烷酮;二甲基甲酰胺(DMF);二甲亚砜(DMSO);2,2,4-三甲基戊二醇二异丁酸酯(TxIB);酯,如顺丁烯二酸二丁酯、丁二酸二丁酯、乙酸乙酯、乙酸丁酯、酮戊二酸单酯及酮戊二酸二酯、丙酮酸酯、及抗坏血酸酯(如抗坏血酸棕榈酸酯);醛;单酯及二酯,更特别是丙二酸二乙酯及丁二酸二乙酯;1,2-二酮,特别是双乙酰及乙二醛;苯甲醇及脂肪醇。
尤其所需的溶剂类型为羟基官能性溶剂,其包括式HO-(-CH2-C(R1)2-(CH2)m-O-)n-R2的化合物,其中各R1独立地选自:氢、具有1-10个碳原子的烷基及具有1至10个碳原子的羟基烷基,n=1-10,m=0或1,且R2为氢或具有1-10个碳原子的烷基。各R1最优选独立地选自H、CH3及CH2OH。适合羟基官能性溶剂的实例为二醇类,如二甘醇单丁基醚、乙二醇、二甘醇、二丙二醇及聚乙二醇、甘油及季戊四醇。
促进剂溶液可通过简单地混合成分,任选地伴以中间加热和/或混合步骤来制备。
若促进剂溶液在本发明方法中用于将过渡金属添加至树脂中,则促进剂溶液通常以树脂的重量计以至少0.01重量%,优选至少0.1重量%,且优选不超过5重量%,更优选不超过3重量%促进剂溶液的量使用。
适用于本发明方法且适合存在于两组分组合物的组分B中的过氧化物包括无机过氧化物及有机过氧化物,如已知使用的酮过氧化物、过氧化酯、二芳基过氧化物、二烷基过氧化物及过氧二碳酸酯以及过氧碳酸酯、过氧缩酮、氢过氧化物、二酰基过氧化物及过氧化氢。优选过氧化物为有机氢过氧化物、酮过氧化物、过氧化酯及过氧碳酸酯。尤其优选过氧化物为甲基乙基酮过氧化物及甲基异丙基酮过氧化物。
本领域技术人员将理解过氧化物可与已知添加剂(例如填充剂、颜料及减敏剂)组合。减敏剂的实例为亲水性酯及烃溶剂。欲用于固化树脂的过氧化物的量优选为至少0.1重量份/百份树脂(phr),更优选为至少0.5phr,且最优选为至少1phr。过氧化物的量优选不超过8phr,更优选不超过5phr,最优选不超过2phr。
为了固化自由基可固化树脂,将过氧化物添加至树脂、纤维及过渡金属化合物的混合物中,且混合并分散所得混合物。视引发剂体系、促进剂体系、调适固化速率的化合物及待固化的树脂组合物而定,固化制程可在-15℃至250℃的任何温度下进行。其优选在常用于如以下的应用的环境温度下进行:手工涂布(hand lay-up)、喷布、丝卷绕、树脂传递模塑、真空注入或浸渍、涂布(例如凝胶涂布及标准涂布)、按钮制造、离心浇铸、波纹板或平面板、换衬体系、厨房水槽通孔浇铸化合物等。然而,其也可用于SMC、BMC、拉挤技术及其类似技术中,对于该类技术使用至多180℃,更优选至多150℃,最优选至多100℃的温度。
可对固化复合材料进行后固化处理以进一步使硬度优化。该后固化处理通常在40℃至180℃范围内的温度下进行30分钟至15小时。
固化组合物可用于各种应用中,包括海事应用、化学锚定、加屋面、建筑、换衬、管道及槽、铺地、风车叶片、层合物、汽车部件汽车、卡车、火车、飞机等。
实施例
下列材料用于以下实施例:
Synolite 1967-X1-非预促进DCPD聚酯树脂(购自DSM)
M50-活性氧含量为8.9重量%的甲基乙基酮过氧化物(50重量%于邻苯二甲酸二甲酯中;购自AkzoNobel)
NouryactTM CF32-基于铁的促进剂溶液,购自AkzoNobel
促进剂NL49-P-2-乙基己酸钴(II),1%Co于溶剂混合物中(购自AkzoNobel)
抑制剂NLD-20-基于2,6-二叔丁基-4-甲苯酚的抑制剂,购自AkzoNobel
‘原样’无纺亚麻-在13.9℃温度下在71%相对湿度下储存后,含有约9.3重量%水的“非预处理”亚麻
干燥无纺亚麻-在105℃下于卤素/热空气干燥器中干燥1小时的亚麻,与“原样”亚麻相比,引起9.3重量%的重量损失
湿无纺亚麻-在20℃及100%RH下在封闭式容器中储存96小时后,含有约14重量%水的经水蒸气饱和的亚麻
使用30×50×0.4cm的封闭式真空注入模具制备测试面板。在模具中放入两片厚度为5mm的无纺亚麻。树脂组合物通过以下方式制备:混合100重量份(pbw)树脂、1pbw促进剂溶液、1pbw过氧化物及0.5pbw抑制剂NLD-20,将混合物注入模具中,且使混合物固化。凝胶时间为约45分钟。在固化期间使模具保持在20℃。成品组合物中,所得纤维含量为约35重量%。
含有基于Co的促进剂及湿亚麻(具有14重量%的水含量)的固化板含有润湿不良部分,而含有基于Fe的促进剂的固化板及含有基于Co的促进剂与干燥亚麻的组合的板看起来很好。
自测试面板取出测试条带,且根据ISO 527于Instron 3367仪器上量测撕裂强度、断裂伸长率及杨氏模数(Young's modulus)。
Xa意谓:不完全固化
这些数据显示,与使用干燥亚麻所获得的面板(经Co或Fe促进)相比,含有含铁促进剂和湿亚麻的固化面板具有更高的撕裂强度,尤其在纵向上。
此样品的断裂伸长率也比其他样品更高,而刚度(杨氏模数)更小。
Claims (15)
1.制备纤维强化复合材料的方法,所述方法包括使如下物质接触的步骤:(i)自由基可固化树脂,(ii)以纤维总重量计总水含量为0.5-20重量%的纤维,(iii)至少一种选自锰、铁和铜化合物的过渡金属化合物,及(iv)过氧化物。
2.根据权利要求1的方法,其中纤维为选自亚麻、黄麻、洋麻、工业大麻、竹子和苎麻的天然纤维。
3.根据权利要求1或2的方法,其中树脂为不饱和聚酯树脂、乙烯基酯树脂、(甲基)丙烯酸酯树脂。
4.根据前述权利要求中任一项的方法,其中过渡金属化合物为铜化合物、铁化合物或其组合。
5.根据前述权利要求中任一项的方法,其中过氧化物选自:有机氢过氧化物、酮过氧化物、过氧碳酸酯和过氧化酯。
6.根据权利要求5的方法,其中过氧化物为酮过氧化物。
7.根据前述权利要求中任一项的方法,其中通过将过渡金属化合物以溶液形式添加至树脂中而制备自由基可固化树脂组合物,所述溶液除过渡金属化合物之外,还包含碱金属或碱土金属化合物、含磷化合物和/或1,3-二酮。
8.根据前述权利要求中任一项的方法,其中过渡金属化合物以1-75毫摩尔/公斤树脂的量添加至树脂中。
9.自由基可固化组合物,其包含(i)自由基可固化树脂、(ii)以纤维总重量计总水含量为0.5-20重量%的纤维及(iii)至少一种选自锰、铁和铜化合物的过渡金属化合物。
10.根据权利要求9的自由基可固化组合物,其中树脂为不饱和聚酯树脂、乙烯基酯树脂或(甲基)丙烯酸酯树脂。
11.根据权利要求9或10的自由基可固化组合物,其中过渡金属化合物为铜化合物、铁化合物或其混合物。
12.根据权利要求9-11中任一项的自由基可固化组合物,其另外包含碱金属或碱土金属化合物、含磷化合物和/或1,3-二酮。
13.两组分组合物,其包含组分A和B;组分A包含根据权利要求9-12中任一项的自由基可固化组合物,且组分B包含过氧化物。
14.根据权利要求13的两组分组合物,其中过氧化物选自:有机氢过氧化物、酮过氧化物、过氧碳酸酯和过氧化酯。
15.根据权利要求14的两组分组合物,其中过氧化物为酮过氧化物。
