发明内容

返回参考图3A和3B,光致发光结构16可以可选地包括至少一个稳定层20以保护包含在能量转换层18内的光致发光材料不被光解和热降解,以提供输出电磁辐射的持久发射。稳定层20可被配置为单独的层且光学耦接到和粘附到能量转换层18或以其他方式与能量转换层16结合,前提是选定了适当的聚合物基体。光致发光结构16也可以可选地包括光学耦接到和粘附到稳定层20的保护层22或其它层以保护光致发光结构16不受来自环境暴露所引起的物理和化学损伤。

考虑到蓝色光谱颜色范围的相对窄带,应当认识到,在红色、绿色和蓝色发光光致发光材料X1、X2、X3的吸收光谱之间会发生一些光谱重叠。这会导致多于一种红色、绿色和蓝色发光光致发光材料X1、X2、X3的意外激发,尽管只有蓝色LED 34、36、38之一是活跃的,从而产生意想不到的颜色混合。因此,如果想要更大的颜色分离,以便最小化他们之间的任何光谱重叠,应该选定具有窄带吸收光谱的红色、绿色和蓝色发光光致发光材料X1、X2、X3,且应该隔开峰值波长λ1,λ2和λ3以使红色、绿色和蓝色发光光致发光材料X1、X2、X3的峰值吸收波长之间能够足够的分离。用这种方式,根据激发红色、绿色和蓝色发光光致发光材料X1、X2、X3的哪一种,可以产生具有更加可预测的光含量的二次发射。二次发射可以表示典型的RGB(红绿蓝)颜色空间中的多种颜色,包括主要是红、绿、蓝或他们的任意组合的颜色。例如,当蓝色LED 34、36、38被同时激活时,二次发射可以包含通常被视为白光的附加的红、绿和蓝光的光混合物。可以通过激活任意组合的蓝色LED 34、36和38和/或通过电流控制、脉冲宽度调制(PWM)或其他手段改变与蓝色LED 34、36、38相关的输出强度产生其他RGB颜色空间中的颜色感觉。
关于在此公开的车辆照明系统24,选定蓝色LED 34、36和38作为激励源26以利用当用在车辆照明应用中时归于其的相对成本收益。使用蓝色LED 34,36的38的另一个优点是蓝光的相对低能见度,其在一次发射在到达光致发光结构16之前必须在目光所及处进行传输的例子中可以给驾驶员和其他乘员造成较低的注意力分散。然而,应该领会的是,车辆照明系统24还可以使用其它的照明设备以及日光和/或环境光来实现。此外,考虑到能够接收光致发光结构16的车辆固定装置的范围,应当领会的是,激励源26的位置可以根据特定车辆固定装置的组成自然改变且可以在光致发光结构16和/或车辆固定装置的外部的或内部。应当进一步领会的是,激励源26可以直接或间接提供一次发射到光致发光结构16。就是说,激励源26可以被定位以便一次发射朝向光致发光结构16传播或被定位以便一次发射通过光导管、光学器件或诸如此类分配给光致发光结构16。
考虑到可用的能量转换元件的广泛选择,可以多方面应用上述描述的每个红色、绿色和蓝色发光光致发光材料X1、X2、X3使用的能量转换过程。根据一种实施方式,能量转换过程通过由一个能量转换元件驱动的单个吸收/发射事件发生。例如,红色发光光致发光材料X1可以包括呈现大的斯托克斯位移的磷光体,其吸收第一输入电磁辐射28且随后发射第一输出电磁辐射46。同样地,绿色发光光致发光材料X2也可以包括呈现大的斯托克斯位移的磷光体,其吸收第二输入电磁辐射48且发射第二输出电磁辐射。使用磷光体或其他呈现大的斯托克斯位移的能量转换元件的一个好处是可以在输入电磁辐射和输出电磁辐射之间实现较大的颜色分离,这是由于相应的吸收和发射光谱之间的光谱重叠减小。同样地,通过呈现单个的斯托克斯位移,给定的光致发光材料的吸收和/或发射光谱与另一个光致发光材料的吸收和/或发射光谱不太可能具有光谱重叠,从而在选定的光致发光材料之间提供较大的颜色分离。
根据另一种实施方式,能量转换过程通过由具有相对较短的斯托克斯位移的多个能量转换元件驱动的吸收/发射事件的能量级联(energycascade)发生。例如,红色发光光致发光材料X1可以包含荧光染料,借以吸收一些或全部第一输入电磁辐射28以发射具有较长波长和不是第一输入电磁辐射28特有的颜色的第一中间电磁辐射。然后,第二次吸收第一中间电磁辐射以发射具有较长波长和不是第一中间电磁辐射特有的颜色的第二中间电磁辐射。可以用呈现适当的斯托克斯位移的附加能量转换元件进一步转换第二中间电磁辐射直到获得期望的与第一输出电磁辐射46相关的峰值发射波长E1。对于绿色发光光致发光材料X2也可以观察到同样的能量转换过程。虽然实施能量级联的能量转换过程可以产生宽的色谱,但是由于在相关的吸收和发射光谱之间的光谱重叠的较大的可能性,增加的斯托克斯位移的数量会导致低效的降频转换。另外,如果想要更大的颜色分离,应该应用附加考虑以便光致发光材料的吸收和/或发射光谱与另一种也实施能量级联和/或一些其他能量转换过程的光致发光材料的吸收和/或发射光谱具有最小的重叠。
关于蓝色发光光致发光材料X3,因为输入电磁辐射32和输出电磁辐射50在蓝色光谱颜色范围中都倾向于具有相对接近的峰值波长,第三输入电磁辐射32通过能量级联的连续转换可能不是必要的。因此,蓝色光致发光材料X3可以包括呈现小的斯托克斯位移的能量转换元件。如果想要较大的颜色分离,应该选定具有与红色和绿色发光光致发光材料X1、X2的吸收光谱具有最小的光谱重叠的发射光谱的蓝色光致发光材料X3。可选地,紫外LED可以取代蓝色LED 38以使能够使用呈现较大的斯托克斯位移的能量转换元件且为在蓝光光谱颜色范围内的蓝色发光光致发光材料X3的发射光谱提供更多的弹性空间机会。对于前光式配置,光致发光结构16可以可选地包括配置用于反射从蓝色LED 38发射的第三输入电磁辐射32来代替执行对其能量转换以表示蓝光的窄带反射材料,其避免了对包括蓝色发光光致发光材料X3的需求。可选地,上述的反射材料可以配置用于反射选定数量的第一和第二输入电磁辐射28、30以表示蓝光,从而避免了对包括蓝色发光光致发光材料X3和蓝色LED 38的需求。对于背光式配置,蓝光可以可选地仅仅通过依赖穿过光致发光结构16的一些数量的第三输入电磁辐射32表示,其中省略了蓝色发光光致发光材料X3。
因为许多能量转换元件是朗伯发射器(Lambertian emitter),产生的二次发射可以在所有的方向传播,包括指向远离光致发光结构16的期望的输出表面52的方向。因此,一些或全部二次发射会被相应的结构(如车辆固定装置)捕获(全内反射)或吸收,从而减小了光致发光结构16的亮度。为了最小化上述现象,光致发光结构16可以可选地包括至少一个构造用以使不规则传播的二次发射改变方向(如反射)为朝向输出表面52(其也相当于关于图4所示的前光式配置的输入表面56)的波长选择性层54。在输入表面56和输出表面52不同的例子中,如在图5由背光式配置总体所示的,波长选择性层54应该容易地传输任何一次发射且使任何不规则传播的二次发射改变方向为朝向输出表面52。
在两种配置中,波长选择性层54位于基底40和能量转换层18之间,以便使至少一些朝向基底40传播的二次发射改变方向为朝向输出表面52,以最大化来自光致发光结构16的二次发射的输出。为了这个目的,波长选择性层54应该至少由散播但不吸分别与第一、第二和第三输出电磁辐射46、48、50相关的峰值发射波长E1、E2、E3的材料制备。波长选择性层54可以呈现为涂层且使用一些之前描述的方法或其他适合的方法光学耦接到能量转换层18并粘附到能量转换层18和基底40。
参考图6,激励源26可以电耦接到处理器60,处理器60通过电源62(如车载电源)提供功率至激励源26并控制激励源的操作状态和/或激励源26的一次发射的强度水平。至处理器60的控制指令可以从在存储器内存储的程序自动执行。附加地或可选地,可以从车辆设备或系统通过至少一个输入64提供控制指令。附加地或可选地,可以通过任何传统的用户输入机构64(例如但是不限于按钮、开关、触摸屏或诸如此类)提供控制指令至处理器60。虽然在图6中示出了电耦接至一个激励源26的处理器60,但是应当领会的是,处理器60也可以是配置用于使用任何上述描述的方法控制额外激励源。
因此,在此描述了车辆照明系统24。有利地是,车辆照明系统24使用能够将一次发射转换为二次发射的光致发光结构16以提供多个颜色感觉,从而增强了驾驶体验和/或车辆固定装置的整体外观。
应当理解的是,在不脱离本发明构思的情况下,可以对上述结构做出变化和修改,并且进一步应当理解的是,这些构思旨在被下述权利要求覆盖,除非这些权利要求通过其文字另有明确表述。
Claims (20)
1.一种车辆照明系统,包含:
激励源,其包括可操作地发射具有第一峰值波长的第一输入电磁辐射的第一蓝色发光二极管,可操作地发射具有第二峰值波长的第二输入电磁辐射的第二蓝色发光二极管,以及可操作地发射具有第三峰值波长的第三输入电磁辐射的第三蓝色发光二极管;以及
光致发光结构,其耦接到车辆固定装置且包括能量转换层,能量转换层具有构造用以将第一输入电磁辐射转换为第一输出电磁辐射的红色发光光致发光材料,构造用以将第二输入电磁辐射转换为第二输出电磁辐射的绿色发光光致发光材料,以及构造用以将第三输入电磁辐射转换为第三输出电磁辐射的蓝色发光光致发光结构。
2.根据权利要求1所述的车辆照明系统,其中红色发光光致发光材料具有对应于第一输入电磁辐射的第一峰值波长的第一峰值吸收波长,绿色发光光致发光材料具有对应于第二输入电磁辐射的第二峰值波长的第二峰值吸收波长,以及蓝色发光光致发光材料具有对应于第三输入电磁辐射的第三峰值波长的第三峰值吸收波长。
3.根据权利要求1所述的车辆照明系统,其中红色发光光致发光材料具有从红色光谱颜色范围选定的第一峰值发射波长,绿色发光光致发光材料具有从绿色光谱颜色范围选定的第二峰值发射波长,以及蓝色发光光致发光材料具有从蓝色光谱颜色范围选定的第三峰值发射波长。
4.根据权利要求1所述的车辆照明系统,其中红色发光光致发光材料包括呈现大的斯托克斯位移的单个能量转换元件和呈现小的斯托克斯位移的多个能量转换元件之一,其用以吸收第一输入电磁辐射和发射第一输出电磁辐射。
5.根据权利要求1所述的车辆照明系统,其中绿色发光光致发光材料包括呈现大的斯托克斯位移的单个能量转换元件和呈现小的斯托克斯位移的多个能量转换元件之一,其用以吸收第二输入电磁辐射和发射第二输出电磁辐射。
6.根据权利要求1所述的车辆照明系统,其中蓝色发光光致发光材料包括用以吸收第三输入电磁辐射和发射第三输出电磁辐射的呈现小的斯托克斯位移的单个能量转换元件。
7.根据权利要求1所述的车辆照明系统,其中激励源电耦接到用于激发第一、第二和第三蓝色发射二极管中的至少一个的处理器。
8.根据权利要求8所述的车辆照明系统,其中处理器控制第一、第二和第三蓝色发光二极管每个的输出强度水平。
9.一种车辆照明系统,包含:
车辆固定装置;
激励源,用于发射至少一种输入电磁辐射;以及
光致发光结构,其耦接到车辆固定装置且包括能量转换层,能量转换层具有构造用以将至少一个输入电磁辐射转换为至少一个输出电磁辐射的至少一种光致发光材料。
10.根据权利要求9所述的车辆照明系统,其中激励源包含可操作地发射第一输入电磁辐射的第一蓝色发光二极管,可操作地发射第二输入电磁辐射的第二蓝色发光二极管,以及可操作地发射第三输入电磁辐射的第三蓝色发光二极管。
11.根据权利要求10所述的车辆照明系统,其中能量转换层包含构造用以将第一输入电磁辐射转换为第一输出电磁辐射的红色发光光致发光材料和构造用以将第二输入电磁辐射转换为第二输出电磁辐射的绿色发光光致发光材料。
12.根据权利要求11所述的车辆照明系统,其中光致发光结构配置用于反射第三输入电磁辐射。
13.根据权利要求10所述的车辆照明系统,其中能量转换层包含构造用以将第一输入电磁辐射转换为第一输出电磁辐射的红色发光光致发光材料,构造用以将第二输入电磁辐射转换为第二输出电磁辐射的绿色发光光致发光材料,以及构造用以将第三输入电磁辐射转换为第三输出电磁辐射的蓝色发光光致发光材料。
14.根据权利要求9所述的车辆照明系统,其中激励源包含可操作地发射第一输入电磁辐射的第一蓝色发光二极管和可操作地发射第二输入电磁辐射的第二蓝色发光二极管。
15.根据权利要求14所述的车辆照明系统,其中能量转换层包含构造用以将第一输入电磁辐射转换为第一输出电磁辐射的红色发光光致发光材料和构造用以将第二输入电磁辐射转换为第二输出电磁辐射的绿色发光光致发光材料。
16.根据权利要求15所述的车辆照明系统,其中光致发光结构配置用于反射选定量的第一输入电磁辐射和第二输入电磁辐射。
17.根据权利要求9所述的车辆照明系统,其中激励源包含可操作地发射第一输入电磁辐射的第一蓝色发光二极管,可操作地发射第二输入电磁辐射的第二蓝色发光二极管,以及可操作地发射第三输入电磁辐射的紫外灯。
18.根据权利要求17所述的车辆照明系统,其中能量转换层包含构造用以将第一输入电磁辐射转换为第一输出电磁辐射的红色发光光致发光材料、构造用以将第二输入电磁辐射转换为第二输出电磁辐射的绿色发光光致发光材料以及构造用以将第三输入电磁辐射转换为第三输出电磁辐射的蓝色发光光致发光材料。
19.一种车辆照明方法,包含以下步骤:
提供耦接到车辆固定装置且包括具有光致发光材料的能量转换层的光致发光结构;
操作激励源以发射用于激发光致发光材料的输入电磁辐射;以及
使用光致发光材料将输入电磁辐射转换为输出电磁辐射。
20.根据权利要求19所述的车辆照明方法,其中激励源包含可操作地发射第一输入电磁辐射的第一蓝色发光二极管,可操作地发射第二输入电磁辐射的第二蓝色发光二极管,以及可操作地发射第三输入电磁辐射的第三蓝色发光二极管,其中光致发光材料包含构造用以将第一输入电磁辐射转换为第一输出电磁辐射的红色发光光致发光材料、构造用以将第二输入电磁辐射转换为第二输出电磁辐射的绿色发光光致发光材料,以及构造用以将第三输入电磁辐射转换为第三输出电磁辐射的蓝色发光光致发光材料。
