综述
如上所述,对于采用诸如电子纸显示器的具有相对长显示更新时间(例如,至少约15毫秒的更新时间)的显示器的电子装置,在用户提供输入的时间和该输入直观地呈现在显示器上的时间之间可能存在可察觉的延迟。该延迟可能让用户感到困惑,因为他们不确定装置是否记录了他们的输入。本文所使用的“显示更新时间)指的是更新或刷新显示在显示屏上的数据所花费的时间。显示更新时间可以包括全部显示帧更新或部分显示帧更新,在全部显示帧更新中显示到显示屏上的所有或基本所有的数据被刷新,在部分显示帧更新中仅显示屏上的部分(例如,菜单或其它局部区域)被刷新。

实施例电子装置

如图1所示,eBook阅读器装置100具有主体或壳体102、用于向用户显示信息的显示器104、和用户接口。在该实施例中,显示器104包括电子纸显示器,诸如由Cambridge,Massachusetts的eInk Corporation制造的电子纸显示器。用户接口包括使用户与装置100交互的各种机构,包括键盘106、通/断滑块108、多个按钮110、和包括控制杆114和转动按钮116的用户接口群集器112。在一些实现中,显示器104还可以包括触摸屏形式的用户接口机构。

示例性电子装置子系统

各种不同的触觉反馈机构可以用作触觉反馈装置300。在一个实现中,触觉反馈装置包括电场发生器300A、布置在其中的磁块(未示出)。电场发生器300A可被选择性地激活以驱动块产生振动。更特别地,电场发生器300A包括两导线圆筒形装置。导线连接至线圈的相对端,所述线圈与在扬声器中使用的音圈类似。在线圈上施加电压产生电磁场,所述电磁场吸引或排斥内部的磁块,从而由触觉反馈装置驱动器216提供的电驱动信号产生机械振动。电场发生器300A触觉反馈装置具有机械共振(即,其产生强振动的特定频率)。来自该尖峰共振的跌落在两侧上(频域内)尖锐。因此,能够通过调节以此驱动电场发生器300A的频率来调节所提供的触觉反馈的强度。
在另一实现中,触觉反馈装置300包括不平衡可旋转块和驱动不平衡可旋转块的电动机300B。在电动机300B旋转时,不平衡块产生可用于施加触觉反馈的振动。
在又一实现中,触觉反馈装置300包括压电执行器300C。压电执行器利用了一些材料(尤其是晶体和一些陶瓷)的能力以响应于施加的机械应力而产生电位并且相反地当施加电场时变形。因此,压电执行器300C可起到如下双重用途:即,通过当执行器变形(例如,按钮被压下、控制杆被移动、或者轮被转动)时发射信号来记录用户输入,以及通过当向其施加电场时变形来提供触觉反馈。在一些实现中,压电执行器300C可以与诸如电场发生器300A的电场发生器结合使用以形成电场,从而使压电执行器变形。除此之外或可选择地,压电执行器可以采取压电电动机的形式。
在一些实现中,触觉反馈装置300可以配置为提供施加到壳体102和/或一个或多个用户输入机构(104-116)的振动的形式的触觉反馈。然而,在其它实现中,触觉反馈装置可另外或可选择地配置为施加力反馈(即,在一个或多个用户输入机构上的阻力或回推)或者运动反馈(即,一个或多个用户输入机构的实物运动)。例如,电动机300B可用于向用户接口的一个或多个用户机构(例如,拇指旋转控制器、转盘、旋钮或其它可旋转的用户输入机构)施加阻力和/或运动反馈。借助于适当的机械联接,电动机300B同样可以向非可旋转的用户输入机构施加阻力和/或运动反馈。
这些和其它类型的触觉反馈装置300N可单独使用或与一个或多个力传动机构结合使用,诸如一个或多个杠杠或连杆、销-杆模型等,以便依据本公开产生触觉反馈。可用于实现本文中描述的技术的其它触觉反馈装置300N的多个实施例包括形状记忆合金(SMA)或形状记忆聚合物(SMP)。通过实施例的方式且非限制,可以使用的SMA的多个示例性实施例包括可从日本的Tokyo的Toki Corporation获得的镍-钛合成物、生物金属纤维(Bio Metal Fiber)和生物金属螺旋系列材料。而且,通过实施例的方式且非限制,可以使用的SMP的多个示例性实施例包括N-异丙基丙烯酰胺(NIPAM)、含有聚(己丙酰胺)(PCL)嵌段和聚(甲基丙烯酸环己酯)(PCHMA)嵌段的甲基丙烯酰氯(MACL)等。
实施例触觉轮廓
如上文讨论的,在至少一些实现中,根据存储在电子装置100的存储器202中的触觉轮廓214中指定的触觉标记来施加触觉反馈。触觉标记指定了为给定事件施加的不同模式、持续时间、和/或强度的触觉反馈。触觉轮廓214为各个事件限定使用哪个触觉标记。
图4是示出电子装置100的存储器202中存储的触觉轮廓214的示例性列表400的示意图。至少一些以及可能所有可能的用户输入事件存在触觉轮廓214。通过实施例的方式且非限制,在其它事件中,可以具有触觉轮廓的用户输入事件包括为对象加高亮、选择对象、对电子项翻页、打开菜单、从存储器中删除项、调用搜索、剪切对象、激活链接。除了用户输入事件之外,诸如系统事件、程序事件等其它事件还可以具有对应的触觉轮廓以限定在发生各个事件时使用的触觉标记。
对于各个触觉轮廓214,列表400包括指定事件的事件入口402,以及在指定事件发生时使用的触觉标记入口404。在一些实现中,列表400还可以包括声音入口406,在指定事件发生时指示播放声音。
列表400中的第一入口对应于用户为诸如文本串的对象加高亮的事件。用于该入口的触觉轮廓214指定了电子装置100要施加触觉标记1且播放声音文件1。如果电子装置100配置为模式对应的现实世界的动作,则该实施例中的触觉标记1可以使人联想到在一张纸上拖动加亮器的感觉,并且声音文件1可以为在一张纸上拖动加亮器的声音的记录。触觉和声音反馈的组合进一步增强了用户的感受。
列表中的第二个至第m个入口还可以包括触觉标记和/或响应于给定事件而播放的声音剪取片断。
实施例触觉标记
图5是可响应于各种事件使用的四个实施例触觉标记400的图像示例。如上文讨论的,触觉标记400可以包括振动反馈、力反馈、和/或运动反馈。触觉标记400通常限定所提供的触觉反馈的持续时间、幅度和模式。
第一触觉标记402与对诸如文本的对象加高亮的用户输入相关联。加高亮触觉标记402的特征在于设计为模拟在一张纸上拖动加亮器的实物动作的相对低幅度的、连续的振动。
第二触觉标记404与从装置的存储器中删除项的用户输入相关联。删除触觉标记404的特征在于设计为模拟砍切感觉的短持续时间的相对较大幅度的振动。
第三触觉标记406与选择和/或移动项的用户输入相关联。选择/移动触觉标记406的特征在于设计为模拟提升或保持对象所必需的力的中等幅度的正力反馈。力的持续时间对应于用户松开按钮、控制杆或其它用户输入机构的时间长度以选择或移动对象。
第四触觉标记408与为eBook翻页、改变纪念册的跟踪或在另一数字项内导航的用户输入相关联。翻页触觉标记408的特征在于对于每个翻页请求三个周围适当幅度的振动模式。翻页触觉标记408设计为模拟实物书的快速翻页的感觉。图5中所示的翻页触觉标记408显示为在暂停之后重复第二次,表示用户已请求第二次翻页。
四个前述的触觉标记仅为可用于对应事件的触觉标记的示例。然而,其它触觉标记可响应于这些事件而使用。而且,这些或任何数量的其它触觉标记可响应于其它事件而使用。
实施例操作
图6是可以而不一定需要利用图1-3的电子装置实现的示例性方法600的流程图。可选择地,可以利用不同的电子装置来实现方法600。而且,本文中描述的电子装置可用于实现不同的触觉反馈方法。
在602处,方法600开始接收来自诸如eBook阅读器100的电子装置的用户接口的信号。接收到的信号指示特定用户输入(例如,为对象加高亮、翻页等)、系统事件(例如,低电池警示、错误消息等)、程序事件(例如,返回搜索结果、指定回放的开始或结束等)或其它事件。
在604处,电子装置100的处理单元204或存储器202中的另一程序模块208将从用户接口接收到的信号与存储在电子装置100的存储器中的触觉轮廓214进行比较。触觉轮廓214指定与由接收到的信号表示的事件对应的触觉标记。在一些实例中,触觉轮廓214(或存储在存储器中的另一轮廓)还可以指定与由接收到的信息指示的事件对应的声音文件。
在606处,触觉装置驱动器216或存储器202中的程序模块208基于604处的比较来确定响应于从用户接口接收到的信号而使用的诸如触觉标记402-408中的一个的触觉标记。
在608处,触觉装置驱动器216驱动电子装置100的触觉反馈装置210以根据确定要使用的触觉标记来提供触觉反馈。在产生振动触觉反馈的情况下,驱动触觉反馈装置210可以包括将具有如触觉标记中指定的幅度、持续时间、和/或模式的脉冲方波信号发送给触觉反馈装置210。方波信号具有与触觉反馈装置210的尖峰共振频率对应的基频。下文中将描述可用于调制由触觉反馈装置210产生的振动的强度的三个不同的示例性驱动技术。然而,其它驱动技术可另外或可选择地用于驱动触觉反馈装置210。
第一种技术是以比触觉反馈装置210的共振频率高得多的频率产生具有脉冲宽度调制(PWM)信号的方波脉冲。在该技术中,振动强度的调制是通过控制PWM信号的占空比来实现的。该方法背后的思想是利用触觉反馈装置210的“机械滤波”。触觉反馈装置210不反作用于PWM信号的各个脉冲(因为各个脉冲比触觉装置的尖峰共振频率高很多),而是反作用于所有脉冲的平均值。增大或减小PWM信号的占空比改变了传递给触觉装置的能量,从而影响其振动的强度。
第二种驱动方法仅涉及到增大或减小方波脉冲的幅值,这相应地影响触觉反馈装置210振动的强度。
第三种驱动技术利用了来自触觉反馈装置的机械振动所呈现出的尖峰共振频率的反冲。通过产生具有比理想的尖峰共振宽度较大或较短宽度的方波脉冲,能够获得相同效果的振动强度调制。
借助于这些驱动技术中的每个,形成不同强度振动的脉冲可以接连地串接到一起。这有效地形成了限定触觉标记的独特触觉感觉。独特触觉标记映射到触觉轮廓中的事件,如上文说明的。
如果在604处触觉轮廓214或存储器202中存储的另一轮廓指定了与在610处由接收到的信号设计的事件对应的声音文件,则声音输出212播放声音文件。
然后,在612处,电子装置更新电子装置的显示以反映出从用户接口接收到的信号。在具有电子纸显示器或具有相对长显示更新时间的其它显示器的电子装置的情况下,在触觉和/或声音反馈响应之后,可察觉地发生该显示的更新。然而,在具有CRT显示器、LCD、或具有相对短显示更新时间的其它显示器的电子装置中,可以与触觉和/或声音反馈响应基本同时更新显示。
方法600中的一些动作不需要按描述的次序执行,可以根据情况进行修改和/或完全省去。例如,可以省去动作610和/或612。
而且,本文中描述的任一方法的任一动作可以由处理器或基于存储到一个或多个计算机可读介质上的指令的其它计算装置来实现。计算机可读介质可以包括可由电子装置访问的任何可获得的介质。通过实施例的方式且非限制,计算机可读介质可以包括以存储诸如计算机可读指令、数据结构、程序模块或其它数据的信息的任何方法或技术实现的易失性和非易失性的、可移除和非可移除的介质。计算机可读介质的一些具体实施例包括不限于RAM、ROM、EEPROM、闪存或其它存储器介质、CD-ROM、DVD、或其它光学存储、盒式磁带、磁带、磁盘存储或其它磁性存储装置、或能够用于存储期望信息且能够由电子装置访问的任何其它介质。上述介质中任一个的组合也应当包括在计算机可读介质的范围之内。
条款1.便携式电子书阅读器装置,包括:
壳体;
电子纸显示屏,其布置在所述壳体中,所述电子纸显示屏具有显示更新时间;
用户接口,其与所述壳体耦合且配置为接收要呈现在所述显示器上的用户输入;以及
触觉反馈装置,其与所述壳体耦合且配置为响应于输入的接收而向所述用户接口提供触觉反馈,所述触觉反馈装置具有比所述显示更新时间小的响应时间。

存储器,其用于存储多个触觉轮廓,各触觉轮廓限定响应于给定用户输入事件而使用的触觉标记;以及
触觉反馈装置驱动器,其配置为驱动所述触觉反馈装置以便根据所述多个触觉轮廓中的一个来提供触觉反馈。
条款3.如条款2中所述的便携式电子书阅读器装置,其中,所述触觉反馈装置包括电场发生器和磁块,所述电场发生器能够被致动以驱动所述块产生振动。

显示器,其具有显示更新时间;

条款5.如条款4中所述的电子装置,其中,所述显示器包括电子纸显示器。
条款6.如条款4中所述的电子装置,其中,所述显示器具有比约15毫米大的显示更新时间,并且其中,所述触觉反馈装置具有最多约15毫米的响应时间。
条款7.如条款4中所述的电子装置,其中,所述触觉反馈装置配置为响应于一个或多个下述用户输入而提供触觉反馈:
为所述显示器上的对象加高亮的用户输入;
选择所述显示器上的对象的用户输入;
对呈现在所述显示器上的页进行翻页的用户输入;
打开所述显示器上的菜单的用户输入;
从装置的存储器中删除项的用户输入;
调用搜索功能的用户输入;
剪切所述显示器上的文本的用户输入;以及
激活所述显示器上链接的用户输入。
条款8.如条款4中所述的电子装置,进一步包括存储多个触觉轮廓的存储器,各触觉轮廓限定响应于给定用户输入而使用的触觉标记。
条款9.如条款8中所述的电子装置,其中,各触觉标记限定所提供的触觉反馈的持续时间、幅度和模式。

Claims (15)
1.一种便携式电子书阅读器装置,包括:
壳体;
电子纸显示屏,其布置在所述壳体中,所述电子纸显示屏具有显示更新时间;
用户接口,其与所述壳体耦合且配置为接收要呈现在所述显示器上的用户输入;以及
触觉反馈装置,其与所述壳体耦合且配置为响应于输入的接收而向所述用户接口提供触觉反馈,所述触觉反馈装置具有比所述显示更新时间小的响应时间。
2.如权利要求1所述的便携式电子书阅读器装置,进一步包括:
存储器,其用于存储多个触觉轮廓,各所述触觉轮廓限定响应于给定用户输入事件而使用的触觉标记;以及
触觉反馈装置驱动器,其配置为驱动所述触觉反馈装置以便根据所述多个触觉轮廓中的一个来提供触觉反馈。
3.如权利要求2所述的便携式电子书阅读器装置,其中,所述触觉反馈装置包括电场发生器和磁块,所述电场发生器能够被致动以驱动所述块产生振动。
4.一种电子装置,包括:
显示器,其具有显示更新时间;
用户接口,其配置为接收用户输入;以及
触觉反馈装置,其配置为响应于在所述用户接口处接收到的用户输入而提供触觉反馈,所述触觉反馈装置具有比所述显示器的所述显示更新时间快的响应率。
5.如权利要求4所述的电子装置,进一步包括存储多个触觉轮廓的存储器,各所述触觉轮廓限定响应于给定用户输入而使用的触觉标记。
6.如权利要求5所述的电子装置,进一步包括触觉反馈装置驱动器,所述触觉反馈装置驱动器配置为驱动所述触觉反馈装置以便根据所述多个触觉轮廓中的一个来提供触觉反馈。
7.如权利要求4所述的电子装置,其中,所述触觉反馈装置配置为根据一个或多个触觉轮廓来提供触觉反馈。
8.如权利要求4所述的电子装置,其中,所述触觉反馈装置包括电场发生器和磁块,所述电场发生器能够被选择性地激励以驱动所述块产生振动。
9.如权利要求4所述的电子装置,其中,所述触觉反馈装置包括不平衡可旋转块和驱动所述不平衡可旋转块的电动机。
10.如权利要求4所述的电子装置,其中,所述触觉反馈装置固定至所述电子装置的壳体以将所述触觉反馈传递至所述壳体。
11.如权利要求4所述的电子装置,其中,所述触觉反馈装置与所述用户接口的特定用户输入装置耦合,以使得所述触觉反馈局限于所述特定用户输入装置。
12.如权利要求11所述的电子装置,其中,所述触觉反馈装置与所述电子装置的控制杆耦合以向所述控制杆提供局域化的触觉反馈。
13.一种存储计算机可执行指令的一个或多个计算机可读介质,当执行所述指令时,所述指令配置为执行动作,所述动作包括:
从电子装置的用户接口接收信号,所述信号表示特定用户输入;
将从所述用户接口接收到的所述信号与存储在所述电子装置的存储器中的触觉轮廓进行比较,所述触觉轮廓包括与从所述用户接口接收到的所述信号对应的触觉标记;
基于所述比较确定响应于从所述用户接口接收到的所述信号而使用的所述触觉标记;以及
驱动所述电子装置的触觉反馈装置以便根据确定要使用的所述触觉标记来提供触觉反馈。
14.如权利要求13所述的一个或多个计算机可读介质,其存储指令,所述指令配置为基于从所述用户接口接收到的所述信号来执行更新所述电子装置的显示器的进一步动作,其中,所述触觉反馈机构具有比所述显示器的显示更新时间短的响应率,以使得驱动所述触觉反馈机构在更新所述显示器之前发生。
15.如权利要求13所述的一个或多个计算机可读介质,其中,接收到的所述信号指示下述所述用户输入中的一个或多个:
为所述显示器上的对象加高亮的用户输入;
选择所述显示器上的对象的用户输入;
对呈现在所述显示器上的页进行翻页的用户输入;
