Abstract

发明内容

所使用的某些个设备116可与双线式接口170兼容,并且在便携式数据终端100的一种构造中,设备116与PHILLIPS I2C总线兼容。在便携式数据终端100的一个实施例中,传感设备118是温度传感设备,其测量便携式数据终端100周围环境的温度。温度传感设备的示例是带有双线式接口的TI TMP75数字温度传感器,由Dallas,TX的Texas Instruments Incorporated制造和出售。

便携式数据终端100,像PDA,可配备有经由通信链路查询以及接收和传输数据的能力(例如固件)。这可通过无线电链路或有线链路实现。通过读取特定可解码标记执行从主机(例如以上描述的主计算机)到PDA的固件升级(也被称为上载或推送),以及复制配置参数,以保证便携式数据终端100工作在正确的修订版本,并具有正确的配置参数。

电路板384通常被构造为印刷电路板,这些印刷电路板包括关于图1示出的实施例讨论的设备、部件、和组合件中的一个或多个。即,使便携式数据终端300能够执行其各种功能所需要的集成电路和其他架构被构造为这些电路板384中的一个或多个的一部分。这包括接口总线104(图1),以及更特别地双线式接口170(图1)。
同样地配置电缆386以使得传感部分318能够与电路板384通信,以便该便携式数据终端300可收集环境数据。构造作为电缆386使用的典型电缆,以便它们可以将环境响应设备316耦合到接口总线104(图1)。例如,当与双线式接口170(图1)耦合时,电缆386可包括数据线(未示出)以及时钟线(未示出)。这些分别连接到双线式接口170(图1)的信号线172(图1)和时钟信号线174(图1)。电缆386还可包括其他线,例如电源线以及地线,基于例如在环境响应设备316的传感部分318使用的传感设备的类型来选择这些线。
作为非限制性示例的方式,如图3所示,以使传感部分318暴露在外壳302周围的环境中的方式配置孔382、机械接口388以及保护盖390。例如,机械接口388将传感部分318相对于孔382放置,以使得传感部分318伸出到外壳302之外。示范性的机械接口可包括多个接合的组合件,其带有可以例如通过机械紧固件、粘合剂和搭扣式装配件收容并且固定传感部分318的部分。这些可以作为外壳302的一部分,或者作为装配且附连到外壳302的分离件部分而被一体式地结合。
典型地配置保护帽390以保护传感部分318,并且在孔382处密封外壳302的敞开部分。用抗损坏性的材料来构造是可取的,所述损坏例如因跌落、压碎或者试图刺破保护盖390而发生。优选地,构造的材料还要选择成以便促进或便于经由传感部分318发生的数据收集。例如,如果设计传感部分以感测环境温度,则用于保护帽390的材料可具有一定热属性,该热属性为导热性以用于可从环境向传感部分318传递热能量。
如上所讨论的,便携式数据终端100、200、300的实施例可采用多个操作模式操作,这些模式可由操作者通过操作者启动的指令来激活。通常操作模式包括捕获环境数据、以及来自数据收集硬件的信息,和其他数据和信息(例如时间、日期和位置)的模式。例如,操作模式可包括用于收集环境数据以及在存储器中存储环境数据(响应于可解码标记的解码)的模式。解码是用于描述解释(例如通过条形码读取器)可解码标记的术语。关于各种参考解码算法的信息可从各种公开的标准获得,例如通过国际组织(ISO)。
操作模式还可包括用于收集环境数据的模式,其中通过或不需通过操作者启动的命令来启动,在一个或多个可配置时间段时捕获环境数据。此测量的数据可存储在存储器中。其也可从存储器中检索到,以便其作为图表、在电子数据表中或采用其他与本文公开的概念相符的显示方法在显示器上显示。在便携式数据终端100的一个实施例中,操作模式包括持续测量环境数据的模式,例如,当可配置时间段是基本上为零的时候。此处,测量数据可存储在存储器中,和/或在便携式数据终端的显示器上显示(作为操作系统的其中一个GUI的一部分或结合到操作系统的其中一个GUI中)。
再另一个操作模式允许便携式数据终端将环境数据与从可解码标记解码的信息相关联。例如,讨论例如入库环境中的便携式数据终端的实施,操作者通过操作者启动的命令(例如通过按压按钮)启动产品的条形码的扫描,并在与条形码扫描的同时记录仓库中的关于环境的数据。便携式数据终端可将来自条形码的信息、环境数据存储在存储器中的文件中。此文件可具有例如以相关联格式的信息和环境数据。在一些实施例中,来自条形码的信息和环境数据可存储在分开的文件中,且便携式数据终端在操作上配置成从分开的文件中访问该信息和环境数据并将该信息和环境数据相关联。在再其他实施例中,便携式数据终端还可记录扫描的时间,扫描的位置(例如通过GPS),并连同和/或关联于条形码和环境数据来存储该额外信息。当其他操作模式和功能的示例涉及环境响应设备时,进一步在公开号为2008/0185432的美国专利申请公开本中公开,该美国专利申请以美国专利申请序列号11/669,987由Caballero等人在2007年2月1日提交,并授权给Hand Held Products,Inc.。公开号为2008/0185432的美国专利申请公开通过引用其全部内容结合于本文。

Claims (15)
1.一种便携式数据终端,具有围绕着一个或多个用于读取可解码标记的部件的外壳,所述便携式数据终端包括:
存储器;
通信地耦合到存储器的控制电路;
编码信息读取器单元,其响应于来自控制电路的信号,该编码信息读取器单元包括从条形码读取设备、RFID读取设备、以及读卡设备中至少其中之一选择的数据收集硬件设备;
接口总线,其通信地耦合到存储器、控制电路、以及编码信息读取器单元中的一个或多个;
环境响应设备,其耦合到接口总线,该环境响应设备包括传感部分,该传感部分按照捕获对于环境的环境读数的方式与外壳外部的环境进行通信。
2.如权利要求1所述的便携式数据终端,其中传感部分包括暴露在环境中的温度传感器。
3.如权利要求2所述的便携式数据终端,进一步包括以覆盖温度传感器的至少一部分的方式放置在外壳上的保护帽,其中该保护帽包括热传导材料。
4.如权利要求1所述的便携式数据终端,其中终端以第一传感模式工作,其中终端响应于操作者启动的命令而捕获环境读数。
5.如权利要求4所述的便携式数据终端,进一步包括
用于显示环境数据的显示器;以及
用于接收操作者启动的命令的按钮。
6.如权利要求1所述的便携式数据终端,其中该终端进一步以第二传感模式工作,其中该终端捕获多个环境读数,所述环境读数包括第一环境读数以及在离第一环境读数一段可配置时间段处出现的第二环境读数。
7.如权利要求6所述的便携式数据终端,其中该终端在操作上用于将环境读数与该终端捕获环境读数时的时间相关联。
8.一种用于从环境读取数据的手持式读取器,所述手持式读取器包括:
外壳;
环境响应设备,具有传感部分,并以将传感部分暴露在环境中的方式可支持地连接到外壳,该传感部分提供对于该环境的环境读数;
接口总线,通信地耦合到传感部分;
中央处理单元,耦合到接口总线,该中央处理单元提供用于捕获来自传感部分的环境读数的信号;
编码信息读取器单元,耦合到中央处理单元,该编码信息读取器单元包括从条形码读取设备、RFID读取设备以及读卡设备中的至少一个选取的数据收集硬件设备;以及
存储器,用于存储来自数据收集硬件设备的环境读数。
9.如权利要求8所述的手持式读取器,其中接口总线包括双线式接口。
10.如权利要求8所述的手持式读取器,进一步包括:
保护帽,以覆盖该传感部分的至少一部分的方式放置在外壳上;
用户输入接口,包括可使用户能够从多个模式中选取一个的输入设备;以及
用户输出接口,包括向用户传送环境读数的输出设备。
11.如权利要求8所述的手持式读取器,其中传感部分以多个模式操作,所述多个模式包括第一传感模式,其在第一可配置时间和与第一可配置时间不同的第二可配置时间处捕获环境读数,其中第一可配置时间与第二可配置时间分隔一段可配置时间段,并且其中该多个模式包括第二传感模式,在第二传感模式中该终端捕获多个环境读数,这些环境读数包括第一环境读数和在离第一环境读数一段可配置时间段处出现的第二环境读数。
12.如权利要求11所述的手持式读取器,其中该多个模式包括第三模式,在该第三模式中,该终端激活该数据收集硬件设备以解码可解码标记,并在基本上相同的时间捕获环境读数。
13.一种用于便携式数据终端的数据收集系统,所述便携式数据终端具有具备形状因子的外壳,该外壳围绕着该便携式数据终端的部件,所述数据收集系统包括:
包括双线式接口的接口总线;
温度传感器,耦合到双线式接口,该温度传感器包括传感部分,以提供外壳外的环境的温度读数的方式暴露该传感部分;
存储器,用于存储温度读数;以及
与存储器通信的编码信息读取器单元,该编码信息读取器单元包括从条形码读取设备、RFID读取设备以及读卡设备中至少一个选取的数据收集硬件设备,
其中响应于操作者启动的信号,该便携式数据终端采用第一传感模式操作,其中将来自数据收集硬件设备的数据和温度读数相关联。
14.如权利要求13所述的数据收集系统,其中该终端进一步采用第二传感模式操作,在该第二传感模式中,该终端捕获多个环境读数,该环境读数包括第一环境读数和在离第一环境读数一段可配置时间段处出现的第二环境读数。
15.如权利要求14所述的数据收集系统,其中该终端更进一步操作成将环境读数与该终端捕获该环境读数时的时间相关联。
