技术领域
本发明涉及用于在通信网内根据关于先前传输的消息所采取的动作来创建消息的消息收发(messaging)系统,并且特别但非排他地适于创建这样的消息以便在移动通信网内传送。
背景技术
目前短消息服务(SMS)、多媒体消息收发服务(MMS)以及无线应用协议(WAP)是个人和发起服务的(即信息和行销)移动消息收发所选择的媒介。MMS和WAP服务促进在移动终端的限制内传输无限大小和近乎任何内容类型的消息,并且以被编译成HTTP消息,这意味着它们提供一种带有内容的可能超级分发、以及消息的准确度、跟踪和反馈的事务处理能力。与受限于字母数字式字符的SMS消息收发相比,这两种消息收发类型就内容的范围和质量而言都提供了重大的改进。
电信网通常包括WAP和媒体网关,其能跟踪WAP和MMS消息到某个终端的传送。然而,没有办法可识别消息传送后发生的事情:消息可能被传送但在接收方查看之前被删除,或者在接收方没有查看的情况下被转发;无论哪种情况目前的网络基础设施将只能跟踪主要来自其网关元件的消息的传送。鉴于网络运营商的责任概括地讲是限于在源地址和目的地地址之间传送消息,这也许就毫不奇怪。应该理解,影响接收方关于查看已传送消息的决定与消息传输的机制有很大不同,原因在于后者取决于包括发送方和内容的消息参数,这两者往往不受网络运营商的控制。

这已在电子邮件消息收发的领域中得以解决,其中如在美国专利US7072947中所描述的,一种解决方案是提供一种电子邮件消息收发系统,该系统被布置成从邮件服务器拦截所有外发电子邮件并且修改每个外发电子邮件以便包括跟踪码,该跟踪码被嵌入到包含于外发电子邮件中的图像调用(image call)内。如果外发电子邮件含有超链接,则把每个超链接修改成包括该跟踪码。跟踪码与外发电子邮件、外发电子邮件的每个单独接收方(在外发电子邮件是发往多个个人的情况下,例如使用电子邮件的“cc”域)、外发电子邮件的发送方、或者发送方的商业团体、或者其组合唯一地相关联。图像调用和嵌入的跟踪码用来检测外发电子邮件的接收方何时打开电子邮件。电子邮件系统将小甜饼(cookie)与外发电子邮件的接收方相关联,并且当电子邮件系统接收图像调用时(即当接收方访问该电子邮件时),对应的图像和小甜饼被同时传送给接收方。该小甜饼用来监控接收方在网站上的行为,而不管接收方如何到达这个网站,无论是从电子邮件中直接点击或者以其它方式进入该网站。
应该理解:这种布置目标是以正在进行的意义(in an ongoing sense)监控互联网世界中的给定网站处的用户交互,因此电子邮件消息充当把通信量引到网站的中间媒介而不是作为终点和自身中信息的主源。还要明白,因为电子邮件提供用于监控网站处行为的方式,所以该过程在应用于无线网络时在网络资源的使用方面是相当密集的:电子邮件的发送涉及一个PDP上下文,从服务器取回电子邮件涉及另一个,按链接涉及第三上下文,并且访问第三方事件服务器可能是第四上下文。当确定给定网络元件上的负载以及这些元件对于无线运营商的技术复杂性和基础设施要求时,PDP上下文的数量是关键度量,因此期望最小化消息传送中所涉及的上下文的数量。
发明内容
根据本发明的第一方面,提供了一种基于用于识别对先前传输的消息的访问的数据来选择消息的接收方的方法,每个所述消息包含内容数据和控制数据,该内容数据用于显示在接收终端的显示区域内而该控制数据包含指示该显示区域内的用户可选择部分的数据,该方法包括以下步骤:
接收具有多个不同类型中的一个类型的内容数据用于创建所述消息;
访问与先前传输的含有给定类型的内容数据的消息相对应的跟踪数据,该跟踪数据指示在所述接收终端显示所述用户可选择部分时对所述用户可选择部分的选择;和
基于接收的内容数据和所述跟踪数据,选择所述消息的接收方。
因而,本发明的第一方面的实施例提供了一种用内容数据(诸如图像、呈现为文本的信息和/或音频)确定后续接收方目标的方式,已知该接收方先前查看了特定类型的内容并且因而知道该特定类型的内容。所述内容数据可以借助于各种属性来表征并且基于这些属性而被分类成给定或其它类型的内容。可选地,内容数据可以具有与其相关联的标识记录,以识别其类型。因此,这提供了一种对用来与新接收的内容数据进行匹配的内容数据加以分类的方式,并且由此选择先前查看了类似内容的接收方。

因而,本发明的第二方面的实施例应用于诸如WAP、MMS以及SMS消息之类的消息,并且操作以便将来自尚未发起(originated)的用户可选择部分和内容的消息汇编为来自另一终端的消息。
本发明的不同方面的实施例在两个层面上与诸如US7072947所描述的布置大不相同:首先在跟踪码与消息的内容之间关系方面;以及其次在使用跟踪数据的方式以及如何在无线数据网络环境中实施该系统方面。关于第一点区别,消息发送方想要接收方看到的信息包含在信息本身内,而不是可经由链接访问的。这意味着与提供观看了特定网页(其可能随时间变化)的指示相反,跟踪数据准确地指示查看了什么信息。正是这个区别使得能够实现本发明的实施例:能够基于其已查看了含有相同类型、类似类型或以已知方式相关的类型的信息的至少一个先前传输的消息来选择消息的未来接收方,这具有例如使得广告商能够比目前可能的更准确地为未来消息确定目标的优势。

该接收终端能依据对用户可选择部分的选择,来按照多个模式之一进行操作;一个这样的模式涉及该接收终端把识别该接收终端的响应消息发送给网络位置,这使得在所述网络位置处更新该消息的访问状态。
控制数据可包括一组可处理指令,所述可处理指令用于依据用户可选择部分的选择来控制接收终端的操作:例如,在一种布置中,控制数据可包括使接收终端发送响应消息至从其传输存储-转发消息的网络位置。可选地,控制数据包括使接收终端发送响应消息至与从其传输存储-转发消息的网络位置不同的网络位置。

具体实施方式
本发明的实施例涉及跟踪用户对消息的访问,具体涉及通过捕获由用户采取的与消息有关的动作来跟踪访问,并且使用该信息来确定随后消息的内容和/或接收方。被跟踪的消息的内容和所采取的动作的性质稍后将在说明书中进行详细描述,但首先将对支持消息的传送和跟踪所需的基础设施进行描述。
图1示出数据消息收发系统1的示例,本发明的第一方面的实施例在该数据消息收发系统1中运行;箭头指示数据消息收发系统1内的数据流,并且这些对象指示数据消息收发系统1的部件。该附图示出适合于传送WAP消息的网络部件的布置,但这些消息可以是短消息(SMS)、多媒体消息(MMS消息)、GPRS数据和/或流数据形式的定制消息;应该理解,数据消息收发系统1的具体布置取决于被传输的消息的类型。
在图1所示的布置中,终端MS与数据消息收发系统1内的各个网络设备通信。终端T1可以是无线终端,比如移动电话、PDA或膝上型计算机。数据消息收发系统1包括:WAP网关G1,其一般是网络运营商的WAP网关;Web和WAP服务服务器S1,S2;以及数据库DB1,其被布置成存储下列数据:关于数据消息收发系统1的订户的数据;关于诸如T1的终端的数据;以及关于内容的数据,其包括图像(静态、动态和/或交互图像)、字母数字式字符以及内容控制信息,该数据已由各种内容提供商CP1,CP2提供。订户数据包括对订户方面所采取的与先前经由数据消息收发系统1传输的消息有关的动作进行指示的跟踪数据,这些消息由包含于其中的内容来识别。

现在将参照图2,3以及4来描述服务服务器S1,S2的功能性。除了标准CPU、存储器、数据总线、输入/输出端口、数据存储器以及操作系统程序之外,第一服务器S1包括某些定制的功能部件,即用于创建消息的消息创建软件部件201、内容检索部件203和对象选择部件205,后两个部件203,205被布置成选择用于插入到消息内的数据。消息创建软件部件201基于作为预指定的起点的接收方或内容来触发消息创建。换言之,消息创建部件201要么被布置成识别一个或多个消息接收方并为这些接收方触发对内容的检索,要么被布置成识别内容并为该内容触发对接收方的检索。
在第一实施例中,指定一组接收方并基于这些接收方选择内容。因此,该组的特性被用来定义用于检索消息内容的参数。可基于诸如图像类型、主题、日期等的参数来设计(formulate)查询,已基于与这组接收方相对应的人口统计数据和偏好数据来设计这些参数。一旦定义了这些参数,内容检索软件部件203就被触发以把查询传递到数据库DB1(步骤S4.1),使得数据库DB1根据这些参数查询其记录。在一种布置中,数据库DB1被配备有本领域已知的用于识别与查询相对应的记录的过滤和匹配功能,并且由这些功能所识别的内容连同内容标识符ID一起被传递给检索软件部件203(步骤S4.3)。
第一服务服务器S1还包括对象选择软件部件205,其被布置成识别控制数据,该控制数据指定用于插入到消息内的一个或多个用户可选择对象。该对象可采用按钮或链接(比如URL)的形式,它们中任一个都能叠加在由检索软件部件203所检索的内容上或者与其分离呈现(例如在接收方终端的显示区域的不同区中)。作为另一可选方案,对象选择部件205可修改部分检索内容使得当在显示器上再现时,以某种方式突出显示该部分(因而在这种情况下该对象使得部分内容从内容的其它部分中突显出来)。对象类型的选择可以取决于创建的消息的类型,原因在于某些类型的消息本来就包括用于指定特定类型的对象的方式(例如HTTP链接能被嵌入到MMS和WAP消息内),而诸如SMS的其它消息则不行。因而,除了识别对象,控制数据能够包括例如以脚本等为形式的一组可处理指令,所述指令可由接收方终端处理以便控制对象的再现并且触发接收方终端以响应于对象的选择而执行某些动作。一个这样的动作是接收方终端传输响应消息,并且控制数据包括指定这种响应消息待发送至的网络地址的数据。在一种布置中,所述网络地址是第二服务服务器S2的网络地址。
消息创建部件201被布置成将控制数据与在步骤S4.3检索的内容组合起来以便为每个接收方创建消息主体(步骤S4.5)。除了控制数据和检索的内容之外,这些消息的主体还包括内容标识符ID,并且消息的主体被封装在消息M1内,以传输给每个接收方(步骤S4.7,S4.8)。一旦完成了这些步骤,消息创建部件201被布置成指示数据库DB1针对每个接收方记录消息传输的内容标识符ID、对象类型以及时间(步骤S4.9)。
一旦在接收方终端T1处接收到,并且假定用户已选择消息M1进行显示,则依照该消息主体内的控制数据来显示该消息内的内容和对象(步骤S4.11)。此外,该控制数据使得接收方终端能够(arm)监控对象的选择,并且响应于对象的选择,使得接收方终端设计并传输响应消息M2(步骤S4.13,S4.15)。在其最简单的形式响应消息M2的主体仅包含与选择的内容相对应的内容标识符ID,并且在对象是URL或类似链接的情况下,内容标识符ID和响应消息待传输至的网络地址能被嵌入到该链接内。对链接的选择触发基于嵌入在链接内的数据设计响应消息M2,如本领域已知的。

在本发明的前述方面中,消息收发类型被描述为诸如SMS、MMS以及WAP的存储-转发消息-它们中的每一个都被存储在网络节点中直至可以向预期的接收方传送的时间。因而,与诸如US7072947中所描述的关于电子邮件的现有技术相比,只有两种上下文要处理:向用户发送消息的第一上下文和当对象被选择时的第二上下文。因而,对访问消息的跟踪涉及比已知系统所需的更少的处理要求(从四个到二个),从而导致在无线数据网络或含有无线元件的网络中传送消息所需的网络容量和/元件的相应减少。此外,当消息M1是MMS或WAP消息时,不要求移动终端配备有移动客户端应用程序就能受益于本发明的实施例,使得可以将内容发送到较广的终端范围,因而发送到较广的接收方范围。
回头参考图3,由于响应消息M2把第二服务服务器S2作为其目的地地址,因此将向它传送任何这样的响应消息M2。如从图3可见,第二服务服务器S2包括:响应-捕获部件301,由第二服务器S2接收的所有响应消息被引导至该响应-捕获部件301;和跟踪部件303,其根据一个或多个准则来评估所述响应消息。接收到响应消息后,响应-捕获部件301被布置成识别该响应消息由其发出的终端并且指示数据库DB1用内容标识符ID和识别该响应消息的接收时间的数据来更新接收方记录(步骤S4.17)。这使得跟踪部件303能够评估接收方对传输的消息的访问,并且因而能够评估接收方对内容的访问。特别是在该内容包含广告材料的情况下,消息创建部件201在随后创建具有预指定内容的消息时能利用这个信息。换言之,假定已知某些接收方已查看了某些类型的内容,则消息创建部件201在创建未来消息时能够把这些接收方作为类似广告的目标。

附加细节
对于WAP型消息,WAP网关G1能传输指示被传送给相应终端的消息的数据,并且这能用来查看响应消息,具体地用来对传输了响应消息的接收方按照传送与查看之间的延迟进行排序。

Claims (39)
1.一种基于用于识别对先前传输的消息的访问的数据来选择消息的接收方的方法,每个所述消息包含内容数据和控制数据,该内容数据用于显示在接收终端的显示区域内,并且该控制数据包含指示该显示区域内的用户可选择部分的数据,所述方法包括以下步骤:
接收具有多种不同类型中的一种类型的内容数据用于创建所述消息;
访问与先前传输的含有给定类型的内容数据的消息相对应的跟踪数据,该跟踪数据指示在所述接收终端显示所述用户可选择部分时对所述用户可选择部分的选择;以及
基于所接收的内容数据和该跟踪数据,选择所述消息的接收方。

其中,该系统被布置成:
访问与先前传输的含有给定类型的内容数据的消息相对应的
跟踪数据,该跟踪数据指示在所述接收终端显示所述用户可选择部
分时对所述用户可选择部分的选择;和
基于所接收的内容数据和该跟踪数据,选择该消息的接收方。
15.如权利要求14所述的系统,其中,该系统对所述内容数据的接收做出响应以便识别其一个或多个属性从而把内容数据分配到所述多种不同类型中的一种类型。
16.如权利要求14或15所述的系统,进一步包含用于基于接收的内容数据和选择的接收方来创建消息的装置。
17.如权利要求16所述的系统,其中,选择的内容数据具有第一类型并且先前传输的消息含有第二类型的内容数据,该系统被布置成基于所述第一内容类型与第二内容类型之间的预定关系来选择用于所述消息的内容数据。
18.如权利要求17所述的系统,其中,所述第一类型不同于所述第二类型。
19.如权利要求14-18中任一项所述的系统,其中,该控制数据包含一组可处理指令,所述指令用于依据用户可选择部分的选择来控制接收终端的操作。
20.如权利要求19所述的系统,包括被布置成接收响应消息的设备,所述响应消息是关于先前传输的消息并根据其中的所述一组可处理指令中的至少一个指令而由接收终端创建的,其中所述响应消息识别该接收终端,并且该设备被布置成在接收到该响应消息时更新该先前传输的消息的访问状态,由此以更新所述跟踪数据。
21.如权利要求20所述的系统,其中,该设备逻辑地耦合到该系统。
22.如权利要求20或21所述的系统,其中,该设备具有网络地址并且与先前传输的消息相关联的控制数据包含识别与该设备相关联的网络地址的数据,用于设计该响应消息。
23.如权利要求14-22中任一项所述的系统,包括更新所述访问状态以便识别响应消息由其发出的接收终端。
24.如权利要求14-23中任一项所述的系统,其中,所述用户可选择部分包含链接,并且所述消息根据无线应用部分超文本协议来创建。
25.如权利要求14-24中任一项所述的系统,其中,所述内容数据包含图像数据并且所述用户可选择部分是所述图像数据的组成部分。
26.一种跟踪通信网络中传输的存储-转发消息的访问状态的方法,所述方法包括以下步骤:
选择用于插入到存储-转发消息内的内容,该内容包括显示数据和控制数据,该显示数据用于在接收终端的显示器内显示,而该控制数据包含指示该显示器内的用户可选择部分的数据,所述显示数据包括用于在所述用户可选择部分中显示的数据;
创建存储-转发消息,该存储-转发消息包括用来传输到接收终端的所选择的内容;
把创建的存储-转发消息传输到该接收终端;以及
响应于接收到指示该显示器内的对用户可选择部分的选择的数据,修改传输的存储-转发消息的访问状态,
其中,所述显示数据和所述控制数据源于与适于在该通信网络中发送消息的终端不同的网络位置。
27.如权利要求26所述的方法,其中,所述控制数据包含一组可处理指令,所述指令用于依据用户可选择部分的选择来控制接收终端的操作。
28.如权利要求26或27所述的方法,其中,该接收终端依据用户可选择部分的选择来以多种模式之一进行操作。
29.如权利要求28所述的方法,其中,第一模式包括该接收终端把识别该接收终端的响应消息发送给所述网络位置,并且在所述网络位置处更新该消息的访问状态。
30.如权利要求28或29所述的方法,其中,第一模式包括该接收终端把识别该接收终端的响应消息传输给与所述网络位置不同的网络位置,并且在所述其它网络位置处更新该消息的访问状态。
31.如权利要求30所述的方法,其中,所述控制数据进一步包括识别所述其它网络位置的数据,用于设计该响应消息。
32.如权利要求26-31中任一项所述的方法,包括更新该访问状态以便识别选择数据由其发出的接收终端。
33.如权利要求26-32中任一项所述的方法,其中所述用户可选择部分包含链接,并且所述消息依照无线应用部分超文本协议来创建。
34.如权利要求26-33中任一项所述的方法,其中,所述显示数据包含图像数据,并且所述用户可选择部分是所述图像数据的组成部分。
35.一种用于跟踪在通信网络中传输的存储-转发消息的访问状态的跟踪系统,所述存储-转发消息包含内容数据和控制数据,该内容数据包括用于在接收终端的显示器内显示的数据,而该控制数据包含指示该显示器内的用户可选择部分的数据,所述显示数据包括用于在用户可选择部分中显示的数据,其中所述显示数据和所述控制数据源于与适于在该通信网络中发送消息的终端不同的网络位置,所述跟踪系统包括:
接口,该接口用于接收指示向终端传送的所述存储-转发消息的所述用户可选择部分的选择的数据,
其中,该跟踪系统被布置成响应于此而修改传送的存储-转发消息的访问状态。
36.一种计算机程序或一组计算机程序,包括当在计算机上或一组计算机上运行该程序时,适于执行如权利要求1到13中任一权利要求的步骤的程序代码手段。
