Abstract

Description
本发明涉及人工晶状体(IOLs)并且更具体地涉及单件IOLs。
发明背景
人眼最简单的基本功能是通过称为角膜的透明外部传送和折射光,并且进一步通过晶状体将像汇聚到眼底的视网膜上而提供视觉。汇聚的像的质量依靠很多因素,包括眼睛的大小、形状和长度,以及角膜和晶状体的形状和透明度。
当外伤、年龄或疾病使得晶状体透明度变差时,因为传送到视网膜上的光减少所以视力下降。眼睛晶状体的这种病症就是医学上公知的白内障。对于该症状的治疗是将晶状体手术摘除并植入人工的晶状体或者IOL。
尽管早期IOLs是由硬质塑料例如聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯(PMMA)制成,,然而由硅树脂、软的丙烯酸树脂和水凝胶制成的软的、可折叠的IOLs因为可以将这些软晶状体折叠或者卷绕并通过较小的切口将其插入所以已经变得越来越受欢迎。有几种卷绕或折叠晶状体的方法供使用。一种受欢迎的方法是将晶状体折叠并提供相对小直径腔的注射盒,晶状体可以从所述腔中通常由软的尖头活塞推入到眼内。最常用的注射盒的设计在美国专利No.4,681,102(Bartell)中说明,并包括一分开的、纵向绞接的盒。类似的设计在美国专利Nos.5,494,484和5,499,987(Feingold)和5,616,148以及5,620,450(Eagles等)中说明。为了美国专利No.4,681,102权利要求中的问题,已经研发了几种固体盒,如参见美国专利No.5,275,604(Rheinish等),5,653,715(Reich等)和美国专利No.5,947,976(Van Noy等)。
这些现有技术的装置打算通过相对大(约3.0mm或更大)的切口将IOL注入到无晶状体眼的后房。已经研发了允许整个外科手术通过更小(2.4mm或更小)的切口来进行的外科技术和IOL。结果是,需要能够卷绕或者折叠得足够小以通过这样小的切口插入的IOL。为了实现该目标,必须将IOL制得更薄,或者不大,然而其仍旧具有30D或者更大的折射能力。将光学部分中心变薄因此需要将光学部分边缘也变薄。具有如此薄横截面的IOL的缺点是,尤其是当由软的、可折叠材料制成时,光学部分边缘非常易碎并且在插入期间容易损坏,尤其是当使用活塞插入装置时。另外,袢/光学部分接合处非常薄弱并且这类晶状体有可能在眼内不稳定。对这类稳定性问题的一种解决方式是在囊袋内植入稳定环并使IOL位于该环内。这类结构在公开号为No.2007/0010881(Soye等)的美国专利中示出。尽管两部分的晶状体系统在提供能够通过非常小的切口植入非常薄的、稳定的IOL时是有效的,然而所述的两个部件比单件式晶状体更难植入。
因此,仍旧需要存在能够通过非常小的切口植入的单件式的、稳定的IOL。
发明内容
本发明通过提供具有降低的内部光学区域和与所述光学部分整体形成的加厚或者升高的外周唇或者缘的IOL来对现有技术进行改进。这种设计减小了IOL的质量,使得所述晶状体更易于在非常小的切口中插入,而不损坏光学部分或者具有IOL的稳定性。
因此本发明的一个目的是提供一种稳定的IOL。
本发明的另一个目的是提供一种更易于通过非常小的切口插入到眼内的稳定的IOL。
本发明的另一个目的是提供具有降低的内部光学区域和与所述光学部分整体形成的加厚或者升高的外周唇或者缘的IOL。

优选实施例的详细描述
本发明的IOL 10通常包括光学部分12和至少两个袢(haptics)14。IOL 10可以具有任意合适尺寸的总体长度,优选的是处于10.5毫米(mm)和14.0mm之间,最优选的是12.5mm。光学部分12和袢14由相同的材料注塑成单件。用于制造IOL 10的材料可以是任何柔软的可折叠的生物相容材料。合适的材料是水凝胶、硅树脂或软丙烯酸树脂材料,这些材料在美国专利Nos.5,411,553(Gerace等),5,403,901 (Namdaran 等), 5,359,021(Weinschenk, III等),5,236,970(Christ等),5,141,507(Parekh)以及4,834,750(Gupta)中有描述。光学部分12具有前侧24和后侧26并且可以为任何合适的尺寸,优选的是处于4.5mm和7.0mm之间并且最优选的是处于5.5mm和6.0mm之间。光学部分12也可以是椭圆形或者卵形。如下表中示出的,光学部分12的最大厚度将依据所需的折射(dioptic)能力和所用材料的折射系数而不同,但是边缘18具有0.1mm的厚度且缘30或30’具有约0.30mm的厚度,对于6D和71D之间的能力范围,光学部分12的中心厚度通常处于0.19mm和1.19mm之间,但是对于人类的真实部分,优选的是中心厚度为0.39mm或更小,最优选的是处于0.37mm和0.39mm之间。

IOL 10最基本的设计标准是对于任何给定直径和能力的光学部分12使光学部分12的厚度最小化以便将需要植入IOL 10所需的外科切口的尺寸最小化。可以改变用于制作光学部分12的材料以吸收紫外线辐射,或者任何其它需要的光波长度,如蓝光或者紫光。
在图2和3中能最清楚地观察到的,光学部分12分别包括周唇或者缘30或者30’,整体形成为光学部分12的一部分并绕光学部分12的周边18基本或者完全延伸。缘30可以被轴向在光学部分12上对中,如图2所示,或者缘30’可以沿轴向设置于光学部分12的前侧。这种结构允许减小光学部分12的厚度同时保持IOL 10在眼内的稳定性。

Claims (4)
1.人工晶状体,包括:
a)具有边缘的光学部分,所述边缘具有约0.1mm的厚度;
b)绕所述光学部分的边缘延伸并与光学部分整体成形的周缘;以及
c)多个从所述周缘延伸并与所述光学部分和周缘整体形成的袢。
2.如权利要求1所述的人工晶状体,其中所述人工晶状体由软丙烯酸材料制成。
3.如权利要求1所述的人工晶状体,其中所述光学部分具有0.19mm到0.39mm之间的最大厚度。
4.如权利要求1所述的人工晶状体,其中所述光学部分具有0.39mm的最大厚度。
