Device for supplying yarn to knitting machines. The present invention relates to (a device for supplying yarn to knitting machines by means of at least one movable yarn guide which can be moved relative to the row of knitting needles to bring the yarn temporarily into the field of action and out of the field of action of the needles, this device being distinguished by a positioning, movable behind the needles, arranged to be able to move transversely to the path taken by the thread after it has been taken out of the field of action of the needles, and to bring the thread laterally by this movement in good position for its recovery by the needles.
In the attached drawing, given as an example: Fig. 1 is (in plan, part in section, one embodiment of the object of the invention in a circular knitting machine; FIG. 2 is a partial side elevation thereof, certain parts shown in FIG. 1 being broken; Fig. 3, 4 and 5 show details; Fig. 6 is a plan, similar to Fig. 1, showing a variant (the, this form of execution: Fig. 7 is a vertical section taken along line 7-7 of Fig. 6.
As shown, in Figs. 1 and 2, the circular knitting machine is provided, above table D for the knitting head, with a console 1 mounted on the scale guard ring 550 and having horizontal bearings for a short horizontal shaft 2 1 a itisi qirun vertical support sleeve 8 for a central shaft 3 which is arranged in the extension of the axis of rotation of the rotary cylinder carrying a circular row
d # needleJe ,,, to knit iî and serves to support a rotating central disc 4, Parbre lei being actuated by the shaft '21 </ B > by means of the angle wheels g y '. The console 1 supports a cap or cover plate 5 provided above the central disc .1 and which carries on its underside cams to actuate movable members provided in radial grooves of the disc 4 to cooperate with the knitting needles II, as described, for example, in Swiss Patent No. 89538.
The cover plate 5 carries, on its top, means for guiding, pinching and cutting a series of threads carried by movable thread guides, established in the form of thread guide fingers F1 to F 'pivoting on an axis in an extension 555 of the crown guard crown 550. These thread guides can operate, as is already known, one or more of them, such as, for example , the one F 'being arranged to provide a reinforcing thread x during the passage of a predetermined group of needles ii, of the row of needles, for example substantially half of these needles.
To actuate a thread guide of this kind, one can use a rotary cam rotating with the needle holder cylinder and which is provided here on the bench with plates 295 (fig. 3) to cooperate with an ear provided on a push bar 460 so as to push this bar against a protrusion s, provided on the reinforcing wire guide, FI, in order to raise this thread guide to the position shown in a dotted line at y, during each passage of, the same part of the row of needles, so to discard the thread r above and inside the row of needles outside their field of action.
The reinforcing thread x will then be introduced again, in the field of action of the needles during the same turn, by bringing the thread guide FI back to the position shown in continuous lines, by the action of a spring < B> f, when the cam on the to plate bench 295 stops acting on the push bar 460.
The wire guide FI, to be made inactive by so to suspend the reinforcement wire feed, can be lifted to the position shown in z in fig. 3 by raising the corresponding push bar 460 by the action of a lifting cam (not shown); the same is true of other thread guides in the series.
The thread guides in position y, or to position z will guide their yarn attached to the knit being formed near the needles, by rotating the needles in the direction of the arrow shown (fig. 4), above the plate 5, under a guide b provided on the top of the plate 5 and, unless it is not cut, this wire will pass to a guide part provided at the periphery of the plate 5, to be led under the underside of the disc 4, this guide part being constituted by an inclined guide c arranged to force the wire to pass under the plate 5 and the disc 4 , as shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
Guide b consists of an arm, angled from bottom to top, pivoting at 6 on a flat of the vertical support sleeve 8 of the console 1 and hand held elastically by a torsion spring 7 against the top of the plate 5. The inclined guide c is located, with respect to to the plate .5, at a point opposite to the wire feed point and, in the case shown, it has an inclined face adjacent to a guide ring 9, with smooth and rounded periphery (fig. 5), < / B> intended to nest the edge of the disk 4.
The crown 9 is mounted on a ti-e 10 guided in a vertical hole of a part of the console 1 and it is vertically movable to discover the edge of disc 1 and by there the outer ends of the grooves provided in disc 4 for the reception of the components that it door. It will be understood that this crown is not absolutely necessary and that it can be omitted, as shown, to in fig. 6, the edge of the plate 5 then being rounded and used in the place of said crown.
The guide c can be mounted directly on the plate 5 and its role is to force strands or floating parts of the wire thrown to the -above plate 5, when it is removed from the field of action of the needles, to move to a position where it is under plate 5 and disk 4 to Completion of uii or more turns, as shown in x ' to </ I > fig. 2.
Above the plate 5 are arranged a wire cutter and a wire clamp, for the reinforcing wire, when it is put out of work, and also for the other inoperative threads; this wire cutter is formed by a shear which comprises, as shown in fig. 1, 2 and 5, a fixed blade 12, mounted on the inanchon 8 of console 1, and a mobile wool 13, pivoting at 14 on this manclion 8, normally held in the closed position by a spring 15 and capable of being actuated by a pivoting lever 611, at 612,
on the crown guard to be activated automatically by the control mechanism (not shown). Whenever any of the threads carried by any of the thread guides, except the reinforcing thread guide, is thrown over the plate 5, the shear 12-13 opens d 'first and then closes again to cut the thread., Whenever the introduction of the reinforcing thread into the knitting is to cease and the reinforcing thread guide is brought to the z position, the shears are operated to cut the thread reinforcement.
In order to pinch the cut ends of threads put out of work, the guide b is biased around its pivot 6 by the torsion spring 7, ponr pinch the thread passed under it on the upper surface of plate 5, so as to forine the thread clamp with it, the guide b being released automatically, to release the thread pinched and cry receive titi other, by bare peg 16 which, carried by lever 611, penetrates titi hole of guild b, so that, every time lever 611 is lowered to open shears 12-13, the guide b is released and that, each time the lever 611 is released to produce the cut of the thread, the guide b </ B> returns to its lowered clamping position.
The reinforcing thread while being fed to this group of needles, passes against the lowered pinch guide b, wrong ,, does not penetrate under it during either withdrawal in inoperative position by lifting the thread guide FI to position y, at each turn of the row of needles, the thread cutter, and the thread clamp not being actuated when the thread guide FI is brought to the position y .
If we now refer to fig. 1 and 4, it will be noted that the rotation of the row of circular needles in the direction of the arrow a, has caused the floating part of the reinforcing wire around the periphery

A wire arm 27, adjustably fixed in a hole of the swing arm 21 by a screw 28, extends, from top to bottom, then from inside to outside, above the plate 5 and ends with titi descending guide 29, located behind the needles n, and above the plane of the organs pot-tees by the central disc 4. In this way, the guide 29 will be able to move along titi arc con centric to the row of needles and located behind them. The guide 29 extends directly forward of the operative position of the reinforcing thread guide F1 to a position outside the line taken by the thread x when it is withdrawn over and in the needles out of the needle. field of action of these.
The position of the cam 20 is such that it holds the guide 29 to the left (fig. 1 and 4) during the passage of the withdrawn yarn x which, by the knitting movement of the needles, is made to pass between the crown 9 of the plate 5 and said guide. When the reinforcing thread is to be introduced bridging the knitting operation, the most protruding part of the cam 20 passes the guide 29 to the position in solid lines shown in figs. 1 and 4, this guide having brought the yarn x from back to front in the plane and close to the plane of movement of the yarn guide F1 and having placed the yarn in a position such that it passes directly through the needles when the thread guide F1 descends.
When the wire x is taken by the needles, the floating part x1 of this wire is held by the needles to pass freely between said guide 29 and the crown 9 of the plate 5. The arrangement of the cam 20 is such that the latter moves the swing arm 21 and with it the guide 29 back and forth to the position shown in dotted lines to in FIG. 4, before, by the rotational movement of the needles ii, the part of thread introduced to the needles, comes to pass beyond the guiding position of the guide 29 shown in solid lines.
Shaft 2 which carries cam 20 repeats its movement from an angle wheel y2 meshing with an angle pinion g3 mounted on a vertical shaft, 33, passing through through a hole of table D and which is guided in frame 34, this shaft 33 being set in motion by a titi angle pinion g4 which, provided at its lower end, meshes with bare angle wheel g5 provided on the means of the gear 31 mounted on the main wedge shaft 32, controlling the cylinder carrying the knitting needles ii, so that the central shaft 3 is controlled in unison with said needle cylinder.
An advantage of this command is the po #, - sibility it offers to separate the gears _92 .93 when the crown guard crown 550, the bracket 1 and others Crown accessories toggle guards are raised to provide access to the hands.
The embodiment of FIGS. 6 and 7 is similar to the one just described for this which concerns the mi arm. , c # n position 27, 29 for the thread of reinforevinent. The only difference it presents vis-à-vis the first is, as we have already indicated, the absence of the rounded guide crown 9 </ B> for the plate 5, which is here rounded itself to exits the upper edge to ensure the guiding of the wire, as can be seen clearly to </ B> fig. 7.
In some cases, it is desirable to float the reinforcing wire under the disc -1 without allowing diaineral or transverse floating parts. to pass over the plate 5 and, in the two examples shown, this result can be achieved at by means of a member P arranged to pass above needles n of the cylinder-holder cylinder, at the place where they are pulled out from top to bottom for knitting, and under the disc, in cooperation with the arm 27, 29 </ B > positioning for the reinforcement wire .
This orgarie P (fig. 1, 6 and 7) is made up by a titi knitting press which can also be used at another time, in the operation of the machine, to force the knitting held on the parts which are in the disc to pass from top to bottom under the disc and it consists of a thin spring-loaded metal lever, pivoting at p 'and ending , at one end forming a minant, at p 2, by one end forming a cam, curved from top to bottom, as best represented in fig.
7, capable of passing over the needles and plates and under the plate 5 and the disc 4 when it is actuated by a rod ps in turn by a spring p </ B> 4 and passing to through a hole in the vertical arm p5 of a rocker arm, p6, free to oscillate on an axis 472 in a fixed part of the machine and comprising a horizontal arm pl capable of be actuated, against gravity, by Lin finger pl mounted on a movable bar i. Whenever an introduction of reinforcing yarn is to be made in the knitting, the bar i is lifted by a control cam part to move the cam-shaped end pl. lever p, as shown in fig. 6.
When the reinforcing thread guide FI, for example, is lifted to the y position, it pulls the thread towards the backs of the needles, the relative movement causing the thread to pass through. 'attached end of the yarn against the organ P around which the yarn wraps as the relative movement of the knitting forces it to define an increasing chord of the circular row of needles, the wire being pulled from the high guide FI to allow oneself) passage under the disc 4 and plate 5. The whole part of the wire which extends between the reinforcing wire guide FI and the cam-shaped end pl of the organ P lies in the space between the needles and the edge of the plate 5 and against the latter.
At this time, the arm 27, 29 is located near the organ P; but, before the thread is re-introduced into the needles, said arm 27, 29 moves to bring its hanging end 29 against the thread between pl and the hole made in the thread guide F1 in order to move the thread to bring it into position approximately in the plane of movement of the thread guide FI.
When the thread guide FI is lifted to the position at, at at the end of the reinforcement knitting operation, the shears 12, 13 </ B > and the clamping guide b are actuated to cut the wire and hold it above the plate 5, the member P being removed before this moment, by the action of the bar i, to allow the wire to pass around the plate 5 and, above it, as in the case of the threads carried by the remaining thread guides.
