Piston ring hammering machine (the piston. The present invention relates to a piston ring hammering machine, established to strike on the internal face of the ring, using a tool similar to a chisel, blows of which the intensity varies gradually from the split of the segment to the opposite point and vice versa.
According to the present invention, the machine has a hammer head provided with said or til and intended to strike the blows of variable intensity, and connected to one end of a lever mounted to pivot at its other end, and means for automatically loading. said, lever at different points between its ends in order to modify the force communicated to the hammer head.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of this invention.
Fig. 1 is a front view; Fig. 2 is a plan, part in section; Fig. 3 is a transverse vertical section taken along line 3-3 of FIG. 7, and FIG. 4 is a front view of a rotary mandrel intended to hold the piston rings.
In the embodiment shown, the hammer head 1 sliding on a vertical guide 1Ú and carrying the tool similar to a chisel 1a, is, arranged so as to rebound above the part after having struck a blow, and this thanks to a spring 2. This head is raised to a uniform height to strike each blow, by a snail cam 3 engaging with a cleat l fixed to this. head effect 1.
The lever 5 of the hammer is articulated at 6 and supported by an upright 6a arranged on the frame (the machine. This lever is pierced with a mortise 7 intended to allow the longitudinal movement made necessary by the straight line movement of the head. hammer. 1 on which the lever is also articulated. in 8.
The variable displacement of the mobile load along the lever 5 of the hammer is effected by means of a heart cam 9 porié by a horizontal shaft 22 and whose forn-f corresponds to the intensity of the blows that it is. necessary to hit on the different parts of a segment. This cam 9 moves forward and backward a horizontal bar 10 carrying a guide 11 disposed transversely and in which slides a roller slide 12, through which passes the lever (the hammer 5, which the spring 2 presses against said roller.
This slide is constantly pulled in the direction in which it presses on the lever 5 ct tends to push the hammer head towards the workpiece, the traction being effected by a coil spring 13 fixed, at one end, to an ear 14 carried by the guide 11, and, by its other end, to a hook 12a fixed to the roller slide 12. To allow the load to be varied, an anti-friction roller 15 is carried by a fixed pivot 15a mounted on a slider 15b which can slide on a fixed transverse bar 16, on the bar 10. The position of the slider 15b can be adjusted along the bar 16 and transversely to the bar 10, to increase the relative force of all the blows of a series.
The heart cam 9 acts on a roller 18 carried by a rocking lever 17 which in turn acts on the roller 15 in view (moving it the bar 10 and the load to the left.
By adjusting the roller 15 along the lever 17. the displacement of the bar 10 can be increased or decreased and the value of the strokes struck on a segment held in a piston ring mandrel 50 carried in a mandrel holder 19 is found. increased or decreased, respectively, in a corresponding manner. The roller 15 is held against the lever 17 by the traction exerted by a circle 20 loaded with a weight and passing over a pulley 21 so that the roller of the lever 17 is in turn constantly pressed against the heart cam 9.
A helical wheel 33, mounted on the shaft 22 of the cam cam, is. integral with an embossing cam 23: this cam has a notch 25 in which a clutch lever roller 24 falls when a series of blows whose intensity varies from minimum to maximum and. vice versa was

The operation of the machine shown is as follows. The piston ring 39 intended to be hammered is placed in the support ring 38. Then the cover ring 40 is placed on the anterior face of the ring 39 using the handle 44 and then rotated until the recesses 43 no longer coincide with the nuts if. Then the cover ring 40 is tightened against the support ring, 38 by means of the nuts 41 so that the piston ring is fixed.
The parts of the machine being in the position shown in fig. 1 and 2, the disc (the friction 29 is pressed against the surface (the friction 27a of the pulley 27 using the lever 29a and (the ring 29t, from which the shaft 28 rotates) , helical screws 30 and 31 and helical wheels 33 and 34 respectively driving the cam in heart 9 and the support ring 38 carrying the segment 39.
During this rotation, the roller 24 rolls on the periphery (the the wheel 23, the closed contact parts 29 and thus being As a result of the rotation the wheels 35 and 36, the snail cam 3 lifts the cleat 4 and, the head hammer 1 (it then falls back so that the chisel tool 1a hits against piston ring 39. As a result (the rotation of ring 39, tool 1a always hits new parts. 2 bounces the head (hammer 1 above the segment, so that it is not prevented from turning.
The cam in heart 9 acts on the roller 18 and oscillates the lever 17 to the left. This causes, by pressing on the bare roller a similar movement of the transverse bar t6, (the bar 10 and the guide 11. The roller slide 12 is thus successively moved to the left and the intensity (the stroke is gradually increased until the most eccentric part of the heart cam 9 acts on the roller 18.
From this point, the organs 18, 17, 16, 10, 11 and 12 fall back to the right under the action of the weight attached to the rope 20 and successively produce a decrease in the intensity of the blow. The stroke intensity therefore varies gradually from the slit of the segment to the optosed point and vice versa. After a complete revolution of the wheel 33, the roller 24 between the notch 25 and the friction disc 29 is decoupled from the pulley 27 so that the arear 28 nc turns more.
Then release the nuts 41. turn the cover ring 40 using the handle 44 until the recesses 43 coincide with the nuts 4l, then remove the cover ring 40 and the segment (the pislon 39.
