Abstract
The retrograde indication or display incorporates a mobile indicatory component (1) displaceable angularly in forward and backward movements between a position between zero and maximal values of the extent indicated and a position corresponding to half the maximal value of the extent indicated. A clockwork application is involved. The mobile indicatory component moves in relation to two graduations (2,3), the first extending from zero to half of the maximum value of the extent indicated and the second in the opposite direction.
Description
There are many retrograde displays, one of the simplest from the point of view of the mechanism is that described in patent CH 666 591.
All known retrograde displays have one thing in common, the mobile display member moves in one direction at the rate of incrementation of time up to a maximum value of the displayed quantity, then this mobile display member returns to zero instantly.
The present invention relates to a different retrograde display in that the movable display member performs a back and forth movement opposite a graduation but always at the same speed. This allows a particular and new aesthetic of a timepiece.
The retrograde display according to the invention is distinguished by the characteristics set out in claim 1.
The attached drawing illustrates schematically and by way of example an embodiment of the retrograde display according to the invention and its mechanism. Fig. 1 illustrates the dial of a timepiece comprising a retrograde seconds display according to the invention. Figs. 2 to 5 illustrates the mechanism of the retrograde display in four different positions.
The retrograde display according to the invention comprises a movable display member, here a needle 1 driven by a mechanism opposite two graduations 2, 3 in opposite directions. Each graduation corresponds to half the values that the displayed quantity can take. The mechanism, which will be described later, drives the hand 1 from zero to thirty seconds from left to right and the reading is carried out on the first scale 2. Then the hand 1 is driven from thirty to sixty seconds in the opposite direction , ie from right to left and the reading is done on the second graduation 3. In this type of alternative retrograde display, needle 1 progresses to its extreme point, corresponding to half of the maximum value of the quantity displayed, then gradually returns to its starting point.
The mechanism driving the needle 1 in its back and forth movements comprises a pinion 4 pivoted on a plate whose axis carries the needle 1. This pinion 4 is subjected to the elastic return action of a spiral spring 5 tending to maintain it in a position by which the needle indicates zero. This pinion 4 meshes with the toothed sector 6 of a lever 7 pivoted at 8 on the plate and the other end of which is provided with a spout 9 held in contact with a cam 10 under the action of the spiral spring 5.
The cam 10 is rotated at the rate of one revolution in one minute by displaying the seconds, one revolution in one day for the display of 24 hours, one revolution in seven days for the display of the day or one turn per month for a date display.
This cam 10 has the shape of a heart, the highest part of which corresponds to half the maximum value that the display can take, while its lowest point corresponds to the display of the zero or maximum value of the quantity to display.
This mechanism can be integrated into a timepiece movement or constitute an additional module.
Such a module allows the display of different information by means of a retrograde hand displaying half of the information advancing in one direction and then the other half during the return stroke in the opposite direction of the needle.
This mechanism makes it possible to divide a cycle into two strictly equal parts.
Depending on the speed of rotation of the cam 10, it is possible to display seconds, hours, minutes, days or the date for example.
