The present invention relates to the field of measuring the activity of a person. Pedometers are known that measure the number of steps a person performs in the day or any other given period of time. However, this does not account for a person's physical activity because they can move very well without walking.
The present invention aims to measure the physical activity of a person based on the movements it makes with the arms.
Another object of this invention is to provide a physical activity counter that integrates into a wristwatch.
The present invention relates to a physical activity meter mechanism mountable in a housing provided with a bracelet for fixing on the wrist of a person, this housing containing a mechanism actuated by the earth's gravitation mechanism actuating an analog display having a dial mounted on said housing and one or more needles actuated by said mechanism displaying a magnitude corresponding to the movements of the arm made by the user.
More particularly, the subject of the present invention is an activity counter mechanism mountable in a case provided with a bracelet, characterized in that it comprises a display of a value representative of a physical activity; this display being driven by the movements of an unbalanced mass pivoted on a fixed member of the housing by means of a train causing the display always in the same direction regardless of the direction of rotation of the unbalanced mass. The accompanying drawing illustrates schematically and by way of example one embodiment of the activity counter mechanism according to the invention.
<tb> Fig. 1 <sep> illustrates in plan a wristwatch provided with the activity counter mechanism and its display according to the invention.
<tb> Fig. 2 <sep> illustrates in section the activity counter mechanism.
<tb> Fig. 3 <sep> illustrates in plan from below a part of the activity counter mechanism.
The activity counter mechanism incorporated in a wristwatch 1 comprises a display having a first graduation units from one to 100 2 range by the dial 3 of the watch 1 and a second graduation of hundreds of one hundred to two thousand 4, also worn by the dial 3 of the watch 1, in the example shown. This display also comprises at least one indicator, particularly in this example a switch comprising a needle of the units 5 cooperating with the first graduation of the units 2 and a needle of the hundreds 6 cooperating with the second graduation of the hundreds 4.
The dial 3 of the watch 1 is fixed in a conventional manner on a bridge or plate 7 of a clockwork movement and is traversed by the axis 8 of a mobile unit 9 and the barrel 10 of a mobile of hundreds 11 pivoted on said axis 8 of the mobile units 9. The axis 8 of the mobile units 9 is pivoted on a shaft 7a integral with the plate 7 of the watch movement.
The mobile units 9 meshes with the wheel 12 of an intermediate mobile whose pinion 13 is engaged with the mobile 11 hundreds and introducing the necessary gear ratio between the mobile units 9 and hundreds 11.
A reference 14, pivoted on the plate 7, meshes with the mobile units 9 and carries a holding plate 15 and a wolf wheel 16 forming part of a winding Pellaton.
This winding Pellaton comprises a pawl 17 and a wheel 18 engaged with a winding mass wheel 19 secured to a weighted balance of automatic winding 20 pivoted on the plate 7 or on another fixed member of the housing.
With the magic ratchet or winding Pellaton 16, 17, 18 regardless of the direction of rotation of the winding weight wheel 19, the wolf wheel 16 always rotates in the same direction.
Thus, any angular displacement of the automatic winding mass 20, due to wrist movements of the wearer of the watch,
will increment the value displayed on the display of the activity counter mechanism.
The watch 1 equipped with such a mechanism thus allows to display a magnitude which corresponds to the sum of the movements of the winding mass or weighted mass 20 and therefore wrist movements of the user of the watch.
According to one embodiment, the value of a unit displayed by the activity counter corresponds to an activity that causes a complete revolution of the wheel 16, but of course this value may be different depending on the gear ratios selected for the mobile mechanism.
Preferably the switching of the display of the activity counter mechanism is parallel to the switch of the time display of the watch.
The activity counter mechanism may further include a resetting device (not shown) of the display of the activity counter mechanism.
Such a resetting device can be actuated by a pusher and can be made in a manner analogous to the resetting of a chronograph counter.
Another solution is to provide an automatic reset at midnight by a device also well known to watchmakers (for example, a device linked to a date in a wristwatch).
The winding mass or unbalanced mass 20 described as the automatic winding mass of the watch movement can of course be an independent unbalanced mass acting only the activity counter mechanism or be replaced by any unbalance, crew mobile clamshell cage, etc. that can include a watch movement.
For example, the mass can be rotatably mounted relative to the plate on two axes of rotation, as can the unbalanced system described in EP 1 615 085. In this case, the activity counter mechanism effectively displays the sum of the angular displacements of the mass on each of these axes.
In variants, the maximum value, in the illustrated case 2000 units, that can be displayed by the display of the activity counter mechanism could be different.
Similarly the display could be digital, for example by numbers carried by one or two discs, appearing through a window of the dial.
The activity counter mechanism can be mounted for itself in a box usually provided with a bracelet or be integrated into a wristwatch as is the case for the illustrated embodiment.
The gear train connecting the weighted mass 20 to the display could comprise a device different from a winding Pellaton to cause said display always in the same direction regardless of the direction of rotation of said unbalanced mass 20.
