Beschreibung
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Siegelwerkzeug zum Heisssiegeln eines abziehbaren Deckels auf einen Behälter, wobei an dem Deckel eine Anreisslasche zum Abziehen des Deckels von Hand angeformt ist.
Bei abziehbaren («peelbaren») Deckeln für sterilisierbare und wiedererwärmbare Behälter aus Barriere-Kunststoff oder einem Aluminium enthaltenden Verbundwerkstoff (z.B. STERALCON-Scha-len) z.B. für Nahrungsmittel, treten Probleme aufgrund sich widersprechender Anforderungen auf. Einerseits müssen sehr feste Versiegelungen erreicht werden, um die bei der Sterilisation und vor allem beim Wiedererwärmen im Wasserbad auftretenden hohen Innendrücke auszuhalten. Andererseits soll der Deckel leicht von Hand zu öffnen sein.
Um die erwähnten guten Verschlusseigenschaften zu erreichen, müssen beim Verschliessen hohe Siegeltemperaturen und Siegeidrücke angewendet werden. Dies führt zu sogenannter Siegelraupenbildung, insbesondere in einer auf der Deckelunterseite befindlichen Siegelschicht, und zwar sowohl auf der Behälterinnen- als auch auf der Behälter-aussenseite. Die Bildung solcher Siegelraupen auf der Behälterinnenseite verbessert einerseits die Verschlusssicherheit und ist durchaus erwünscht; andererseits führt sie jedoch zu hohen Anreisskräften beim Abziehen («peelen»), die das Aufreis-sen stark erschweren und teilweise sogar verun-mögiichen.
Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, ein Siegelwerkzeug zu schaffen, das das Anheften eines abziehbaren Deckels an einen Behälter mit einer Siegelnaht ausreichender Festigkeit und gleichzeitig leichter Abziehbarkeit ermöglicht.
Zur Lösung dieser Aufgabe ist bei einem Siegelwerkzeug der angegebenen Art vorgesehen, dass mindestens eine Siegelbacke des Siegelwerkzeuges mindestens im Bereich der Anreisslasche mit Vertiefungen versehen ist, die vom Rand der die Siegelnaht ausbildenden Druckfläche ausgehen und sich über einen Teil der Breite der Druckfläche erstrecken.
Mit einem Siegelwerkzeug nach der Erfindung ist die Siegelraupe vorzugsweise im Bereich der Anreisslasche oder bei runden Behältern über den ganzen Behälterumfang durch den Vertiefungen im Siegelwerkzeug entsprechenden Nasen unterbrochen. Der Anriss erfolgt daher nicht mehr über die ganze Länge der Siegelraupe, sondern nur noch in den kleineren Bereichen der Nasen. Deshalb sinken die Anreisskräfte auf Werte, welche ein leichtes Anreissen mittels der Anreisslasche und somit ein leichtes Abziehen des Deckels vom Behälter ermöglichen.
Die Vertiefungen können in verschiedenen Formen ausgebildet sein. Am einfachsten herzustellen und gleichzeitig sehr wirkungsvoll sind Vertiefungen in Form von konischen Spitzen, die vorteilhaft durch Fräsen hergestellt sind. Diese Vertiefungen sollten sich höchstens über die halbe Breite der Druckfläche des Siegelwerkzeuges erstrecken.
Wenngleich Vertiefungen jedenfalls vom äusseren Rand des Siegelwerkzeuges ausgehen sollen, können zusätzlich auch Vertiefungen ausgehend vom inneren Rand vorgesehen werden, und zwar insbesondere in Fällen, bei denen die innere Siegelraupenausbildung nicht von Bedeutung ist. Diese Ausgestaltung des Siegelwerkzeuges erleichtert das Anreissen an beiden Siegelkanten und unterbindet zusätzlich die Delaminationsneigung bei Bildung des Deckels aus einem Verbundwerkstoff mit niedriger Kaschierhaftung.
Die Erfindung ist im folgenden anhand schemati-scher Zeichnungen an einem Ausführungsbeispiel mit weiteren Einzelheiten näher erläutert.
Fig. 1 zeigt einen Teilquerschnitt durch einen Behälter mit Deckel während des Siegelvorgangs mit einem herkömmlichen Siegelwerkzeug mit einer oberen und unteren Siegelbacke;
Fig. 2a, 2b und 2c zeigen Unteransichten jeweils auf die die Siegelnaht erzeugende Druckfläche von drei unterschiedlich ausgeführten oberen Siegelbacken eines Siegelwerkzeugs;
Fig. 3 zeigt eine Draufsicht auf einen im wesentlichen rechteckigen Behälter mit abgerundeten Ecken, der mit einem entsprechend gestalteten Siegelwerkzeug gemäss der Erfindung hergestellt ist;
Fig. 4 zeigt eine Unteransicht einer Siegelbacke eines erfindungsgemässen Siegelwerkzeuges für einen runden Behälter;
Fig. 5a bis 5d zeigen Teilquerschnitte unterschiedlich ausgeführter Siegelwerkzeuge gemäss der Erfindung und
Fig. 6 stellt einen Querschnitt durch einen Behälter mit Deckel wähend des Siegeins mit einem Siegelwerkzeug gemäss der Erfindung dar.
Gemäss Fig. 1 ist ein Deckel 1 von einer mit einer Siegelschicht 3 kaschierten Aluminiumfolie 2 gebildet und auf einen beispielsweise aus Kunststoff bestehenden Behälter 4 aufgesetzt. Der Randbereich ist eingeklemmt zwischen einer oberen, üblicherweise elektrisch beheizten Siegelbacke 5 und einer unteren Siegelbacke 6 eines Siegelwerkzeuges dargestellt. Durch den Druck und die Temperatur zwischen der oberen Siegelbacke 5 und der unteren Siegelbacke 6 werden die Siegelschichten des Deckeis 3 und Behälters 4 erweicht und etwas zusammengedrückt und bilden so mit der inneren und äusseren Siegelraupe 7 und 8 die Siegelnaht.
Die die Siegelnaht bildende Druckfläche der oberen Siegelbacke 5 ist mit 9 bezeichnet.
Gemäss Fig. 2a sind in den äusseren Rand 10 der oberen Siegelbacke 5 eines Siegelwerkzeuges nach der Erfindung konische Vertiefungen 11 eingefräst, die ausgehend vom äusseren Rand 10 in Breitenrichtung der Druckfläche 9 zulaufen. Die Vertiefungen 11 erstrecken sich über weniger als die halbe Breite b der Druckfläche 9.
Bei der Ausführung nach Fig. 2b sind konische Vertiefungen 11 zusätzlich am inneren Umfang der Siegelbacke 5 ausgebildet.
Bei der Ausführung nach Fig. 2c sind die Vertiefungen 11 am äusseren Umfang halbkreisförmig (im Querschnitt der Backen 5 gemäss Fig. 5b und 5c viertelkreisförmig) und am inneren Umfang mit

«negativem» Profil 11" ebenfalls halbkreisförmig ausgebildet.
Somit wird eine äussere Siegelraupe 8 ausgebildet, die nicht in Umfangsrichtung, sondern vielmehr entlang den Rändern der eingefrästen Vertiefungen 11 verläuft und somit einem Anreissen weniger Widerstand entgegensetzt als eine in Umfangsrichtung durchgehende Siegelraupe 8 gemäss dem Stand der Technik. Bei der erfindungsge-mässen Gestaltung werden viele kleine Siegelnasen oder -spitzen 11' gemäss Fig. 3 und 4 im Bereich der Anreisslasche ausgebildet, die in Fig. 3 mit 13 bezeichnet und an einer Ecke angeordnet ist. Bei einem runden Behälter, der mit einer Siegelbacke 5 gemäss Fig. 4 hergestellt ist, kann eine solche Anreisslasche an beliebiger Stelle des Umfanges, jedoch im Bereich der durch das Siegelwerkzeug nach der Erfindung geprägten Siegelspitzen 11' vorgesehen sein.
Beispiel:
Bei einer ausgeführten Konstruktion gemäss Fig. 3 wurde die Verminderung der Anreisskraft aufgrund der zackenförmigen Ausgestaltung des Siegelwerkzeuges im Bereich der Anreisslasche gemessen.

Die Fig. 5a bis 5d zeigen in Teilquerschnitten der jeweils oberen Siegelbacke 5 unterschiedliche Ausgestaltungen der Vertiefungen 11, nämlich rechteckig in Fig. 5a, dreieckig bzw. viertelkreisförmig in Fig. 5b, beidseitig rechteckig bzw. viertelkreisförmig in Fig. 5c und beidseitig dreieckig in Fig. 5d.
Fig. 6 veranschaulicht in einer Darstellung entsprechend Fig. 1 (Teile mit gleichen Bezugszeichen sind nicht nochmals beschrieben) den Siegelvorgang mit einem Siegelwerkzeug gemäss der in Fig. 5a dargestellten Ausführung der Erfindung mit im Querschnitt rechteckigen Vertiefungen 11 nur auf der Aussenseite der oberen Siegelbacke 5. Auch in diesem Fall bildet sich eine äussere Siegelraupe 8 aus, die jedoch dem Verlauf des zackenförmigen Randes der Vertiefungen 11 folgt und somit einem späteren Anreissvorgang einen geringeren Widerstand entgegensetzt.

Claims (8)

Patentansprüche
1. Siegelwerkzeug zum Heisssiegeln eines abziehbaren Deckels (1) auf einen Behälter (4), wobei an dem Deckel (1) eine Anreisslasche (13) zum Abziehen des Deckels von Hand angeformt ist, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass mindestens eine Siegelbacke (5) des Siegelwerkzeuges mindestens im Bereich der Anreisslasche (13) mit Vertiefungen (11) verse-5 hen ist, die vom Rand (10) der die Siegelnaht ausbildenden Druckfläche (9) ausgehen und sich über einen Teil der Breite der Druckfläche (9) erstrecken.
2. Siegelwerkzeug nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Vertiefungen (11) sich vom
10 Rand (10) ausgehend konisch zuspitzen.
3. Siegelwerkzeug nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Vertiefungen vom äusseren Rand (10) der Siegelbacke (5) ausgehen.
4. Siegelwerkzeug nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, da-15 durch gekennzeichnet, dass die Vertiefungen sowohl vom äusseren als auch vom inneren Rand der Siegelbacke (5) ausgehen.
5. Siegelwerkzeug nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Vertiefun-
20 gen (11) sich höchstens über die halbe Breite (b) der Druckfläche (9) erstrecken.
6. Siegeiwerkzeug nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Vertiefungen von Einfräsungen gebildet sind.

7. Siegelwerkzeug nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Vertiefungen (11) ausschliesslich in derauf den Deckel (1) einwirkenden oberen Siegelbacke (5) ausgebildet sind.
8. Siegelwerkzeug nach einem der Ansprüche 1 30 bis 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Vertiefungen (11 ) um den ganzen Umfang der Siegelbacke (5) herum ausgebildet sind (Fig. 4).
