Description

Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft eine Ultraschall-Schweissvorrichtung zum Verschweissen von mehrlagig angeordneten Folien gemäss dem Oberbegriff des unabhängigen Patentanspruchs 1 sowie eine Verwendung gemäss dem Oberbegriff des Nebenanspruchs 8.
Zum Verschweissen von mit thermoplastischem Material beschichteter Pappe ist es gemäss der CH-A 613 170 bekannt geworden, die Vibrationsschweissung anzuwenden. Bei dieser Schweissung wird mechanische Energie in lokale Wärmeenergie übergeführt, um den erforderlichen Wärme- und Energiebetrag zu reduzieren. Beispielsweise ist aus der US-A 3 526 792 ein Ultraschall-Umformer bekannt geworden, der einen Konverter zur Umwandlung elektrischer Energie in mechanische Energie und ein die Energie konzentrierendes Teil, die Sonotrode, umfasst, mit dem sich die mechanische Energie in Form von Schwingungen einer bestimmten Frequenz konzentrieren lässt. Diese Sonotrode wirkt im Betrieb mit einem Amboss zusammen, indem die beschichteten Teile zwischen der Arbeitsfläche der Sonotrode und der Arbeitsfläche des Ambosses zusammengepresst werden. Die Vibration der Sonotrode erzeugt im zusammengepressten Material Reibungswärme, die ausreicht, um die thermoplastischen Schichten zu aktivieren, derart, dass das thermoplastische Material der Lagen zusammenfliesst. Nach Abschalten der Vibration kühlt sich das thermoplastische Material ab und verfestigt sich, so dass die aufeinanderliegenden Schichten oder Lagen miteinander verbunden sind.
Eine Anwendung dieser Schweissart in der Verpackungsindustrie ist in der US-A 4 279 675 beschrieben. Dabei ist der Amboss mit einer Ausnehmung am Rande der Arbeitsfläche und in einer zentralen Partie derselben versehen, um die Verdickung der aufeinandergelegten Pappeteile aufzunehmen. Zwischen diesen Ausnehmungen sind längsgerichtete Nuten angeordnet, damit das verflüssigte thermoplastische Material an den Kreten zwischen benachbarten Nuten weggedrückt werden und sich in den Nuten sammeln kann, um eine Ver-schweissung zu bilden.
Es hat sich gezeigt, dass eine solche Anordnung nicht genügt, wenn stellenweise mehrschichtige Partien vorhanden sind, wie sie beispielsweise bei Längsnähten in Schlauchbeutelpackungen üblich sind, so dass es Stellen geben kann, die nicht verschweisst sind, und bei einer evakuierten Packung luftdurchlässige Stellen gebildet werden könnten.
Es ist eine Aufgabe der Erfindung, eine Schweissvorrichtung der beschriebenen Art zu schaffen, bei der diese Nachteile behoben sind und unabhängig von der Anzahl Schichten bei Nähten eine luftdichte Verschweissung ermöglicht wird.
Erfindungsgemäss wird dies durch die Merkmale im kennzeichnenden Teil des unabhängigen Patentanspruchs erreicht.
Ausführungsbeispiele der Erfindung werden nachfolgend anhand der Zeichnung erläutert. Es zeigen:
Fig. 1 eine schematische Darstellung von Sonotrode und Amboss im Aufriss,
Fig. 2 dieselbe Anordnung, wie Fig. 1, im Seitenriss,
Fig. 3 bis Fig. 6 verschiedene Ausführungsbeispiele des Ambosses im Aufriss.
Die Sonotrode 10 liegt mit ihrer Arbeitsfläche 11 auf der Arbeitsfläche 23 eines Ambosses 20. Der Amboss 20 besteht aus einer Anzahl nebeneinanderliegender einzelner Lamellen 21. Diese Lamellen 21 sind in einem Gehäuse 24 mit zwei Seitenwänden 24a, 24b, einer Bodenwand 24c sowie einer Vorder- und einer Rückwand 24d, 24e eingebettet. Die beiden Seitenwände 24a, 24b weisen oben längsverlaufende Stützplatten 25a, 25b als Gegenhalter für die Lamellen 21 auf. Im Gehäuseinnern befinden sich ein Stützboden 26 und eine Presswand 27, die mittels einer Schraube 28a gegen die Lamellen 21 gepresst werden kann, um diese zusammenzupressen. Die Lamellen 21 liegen mit der der Arbeitsfläche 23 gegenüberliegenden Kantenpartie 29 auf einem Kissen 22 aus elastischem Material auf. Mit zwei weiteren Schrauben 28b, 28c lässt sich der Stützboden 26 und damit die Vorspannung durch das Kissen 22 einstellen.
Die Masse der einzelnen Lamellen 21 ist derart, dass die dynamischen Reaktionskräfte der Vibration aufgenommen werden. Diese Lamellen können aus 1 mm starkem Messingblech gefertigt sein. Beispielsweise Abmessungen für eine solche Lamelle 21 können bei einer Breite der Arbeitsfläche 23 von 10 mm eine Höhe über alles von 45 mm und eine Breite von 40 mm haben. Für das Kissen 22 kann eine Gummiunterlage mit einer Rücksprunghärte von 40-45 Shore A verwendet werden. Die Länge der Arbeitsfläche 23 liegt in der Grössenordnung von 65 mm.
Versuche mit einem derartigen lamellierten Amboss 20 haben gezeigt, dass sowohl bei einer Fischgratnaht als auch einem Kreuzfalt mit je vier Lagen Material, unabhängig da2

von, ob eine Aussenschicht aus Papier oder aus thermoplastischem Material vorhanden war, eine gasdichte Ver-schweissung erhalten wird.
Die Federung der einzelnen Lamellen 30 bzw. 40 lässt sich entweder mit einem separaten Federelement 31 gemäss Fig. 3 oder mit ausgestanzten Federfüssen 41,42 gemäss Fig. 4 erhalten. Eine weitere mögliche Ausführungsform einer Lamelle mit Eigenfederung ist in Fig. 5 dargestellt. Hier ist die Lamelle 50 mit zwei Einschnitten 51, 52 versehen, die parallel zu der der Arbeitsfläche 53 gegenüberliegenden Kantenpartie 54 angeordnet sind und sich auf etwa 2/3 der Länge überschneiden. Bei diesen erläuterten Ausführungsbeispielen sind gleichartige Gehäuse verwendet.
Eine davon abweichende Form ist in Fig. 6 dargestellt. Ein Winkelprofil 60 und ein Gegenhalterstab 61 sind mittels zwei Seitenwänden, die nicht dargestellt sind, zusammengehalten und dienen zur Halterung von einer Anzahl Lamellen 62 mit einer Arbeitsfläche 63 und einer Ausnehmung 64 zur Bildung einer federnden Stütze für die Arbeitsfläche 63".
Allen Ausführungsbeispielen ist gemeinsam, dass sich jede Lamelle einzeln auf die Dicke des zu verschweissenden
Materials einstellen kann. Damit wird ein gleichmässiger Gegendruck gegen die Sonotrode über die gesamte Nahtlänge bewirkt, so dass das Material der Schlauchpackung unabhängig von der jeweiligen Materialstärke bei Längsnähten, 5 Zwickelfalten und dgl. gleicherweise verschweisst wird.
Damit die Lamellen sich leicht gegeneinander verschieben lassen, um nur den durch das Kissen 22 oder die Federn 31 oder durch ihre Eigenfederung ausgeübten Druck zur Wirkung zu bringen, wird vorteilhafterweise wenigstens eine io der beiden Flächen von benachbarten Lamellen mit einer die Reibung vermindernden Schicht beaufschlagt. Diese Schicht kann als Belag aus einem geeigneten Material aufgebracht werden.
Bei einer Verspannung der Lamellen 21 mittels der Press-i5 wand 27 durch Einstellen einer Druckkraft mit der Schraube 28a, können sich die Lamellen 21 infolge Temperaturschwankungen lockern. Um dies zu verhindern, ist zwischen die Presswand 27 und das Lamellenpaket ein Federelement 32, beispielsweise ein Kissen aus elastischem Material, einge-20 setzt. Selbstverständlich kann ein solches Federelement auch bei allen übrigen Ausführungsformen vorhanden sein.

Claims (10)

654 247 PATENTANSPRÜCHE
1. Ultraschall-Schweissvorrichtung zum Verschweissen von mehrlagig angeordneten Folien mit einer einstückigen, länglichen Sonotrode, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass ein Amboss (20) aus einer Anzahl einzelner, gegeneinander verschieblich gehalterter Lamellen (21,30,40, 50, 62) gebildet ist, wobei die Stirnseiten (23, 53, 63) der genannten Lamellen den Gegenhalter zur Sonotrode (10) bilden und einzeln einer gegen die Sonotrode (10) gerichteten Kraft ausgesetzt sind.
2. Schweissvorrichtung nach Patentanspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die einzelnen Lamellen (21, 30,40, 50, 62) je eine genügend grosse Masse aufweisen, um die von der Sonotrode (10) auf sie einwirkende Reaktionskraft der Schwingung aufzunehmen.
3. Schweissvorrichtung nach Patentanspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass wenigstens eine der beiden Flächen der genannten Lamellen mit einem die Reibung vermindernden Belag versehen ist.
4. Schweissvorrichtung nach Patentanspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Lamellen (21) mit ihrer der Sonotrode abgewandten Stirnseite (29) auf einem Kissen (22) aus elastischem Material abgestützt sind (Fig. 1,2).
5. Schweisseinrichtung nach Patentanspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Lamellen (30,40) auf Federelementen (31,41,42) abgestützt sind (Fig. 3,4).
6. Schweisseinrichtung nach Patentanspruch 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass jede einzelne Lamelle (30,40) auf einem eigenen Federelement (31,41,42) abgestützt ist.

Schweisseinrichtung nach Patentanspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Lamellen (50,62) aus federndem Material bestehen und mit Einschnitten (51, 52,64) versehen sind, durch die eine Randpartie entlang der der Sonotrode (10) gegenüberliegenden Stirnseite (54, 65) der Lamelle (50, 62) federnd gehaltert ist.
8. Schweisseinrichtung nach einem der Patentansprüche 1 bis 7, gekennzeichnet durch wenigstens ein Federelement (32), um die einzelnen Lamellen (21,30,40, 50, 62) gegenein- . ander zu pressen.
9. Verwendung der Ultraschall-Schweissvorrichtung nach Patentanspruch 1 in der Verpackungsindustrie zum Verschweissen von Verpackungsbeuteln aus Folien, die wenigstens eine thermoplastische Schicht aufweisen.
10. Verwendung nach Patentanspruch 8 zur Bildung von Quersiegelnähten bei Schlauchbeuteln mit einer Längsnaht.
