Herstellungsbeispiel
Herstellung von N-(1'-Methoxycarbonyl-äthyl)-N-hydroxyacetyl-2,6-dimethylanilin der Formel
EMI3.1
(Verb. Nr. 1)
28,7 g N-(1-Methoxycarbonyl-äthyl)-N-acetoxyacetyl-2,6 -dimethylanilin in 100 ml abs.

Structure-like N-alkyl-N-acyl-substituted aniline derivatives are described in German Offenlegungsschrift 2,417,781. A herbicidal activity is attributed to these compounds. A microbicidal activity is not mentioned.
Depending on the number of specified carbon atoms, alkyl or as an alkyl part of an alkoxy group means the following groups:
Methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, iso-propyl, n-butyl, iso-butyl, sec-butyl and tert-butyl. Halogen stands for fluorine, chlorine, bromine or iodine.
The new compounds of formula I have a very favorable microbicide spectrum for the protection of crop plants for practical needs. In the context of the present invention, crop plants are, for example, cereals, maize, rice, vegetables, sugar beets, soybeans, peanuts, fruit trees, ornamental plants, but above all vines, hops, cucumber plants (cucumbers, pumpkins, melons), solanaceae such as potatoes, tobacco and tomatoes, and also also banana, cocoa and natural rubber plants.
With the active compounds of the formula I, the fungi which occur on plants or parts of plants (fruits, flowers, leaves, stems, tubers, roots) of these and related crops can be contained or destroyed, and plant parts which are growing later are also spared by such fungi. The active substances are active against the phytopathogenic fungi belonging to the following classes: Ascomycetes (e.g. Erysiphaceae): Basidiomycetes such as especially rust fungi; Fungi imperfecti such as Cercospora; then especially against the Oomycetes belonging to the class of Phycomycetes such as Phytophthora, Peronospora,
Pseudoperonospora, Pythium or Plasmopara. In addition, the compounds of the formula I have a systemic action. They can also be used as dressing agents for the treatment of seeds (fruits, tubers, grains) and plant cuttings for the protection of fungal infections and against phytopathogenic fungi occurring in the soil.
An interesting group due to their action are those compounds of the formula I in which R1 is methyl or methoxy, R2 is methyl, ethyl, butoxy, chlorine or bromine, R is hydrogen, methyl, chlorine or bromine and R1 is hydrogen or methyl.
Hydrogen is preferred for RA.
Also of interest are compounds of formula I from the above two groups, wherein R, methyl, R2 is methyl or ethyl and R3 is hydrogen or methyl.
Also to be emphasized are compounds from the above three groups, in which the substituent R is ortho to the amino group.
In Formula I and especially within these four groups, those compounds are preferred in which
EMI2.1
and R represents -COOCH3.
The new compounds of formula I are prepared according to the invention by using a compound of formula II
EMI2.2
with a compound of formula III
MeOR '(III), and then treating the reaction mixture obtained with an aqueous mineral acid, in the formulas II and III the substituents Rl to Rl, and X as defined under formula I and R, for C, -C4 alkyl or phenyl and Me stands for a metal atom, preferably an alkali or alkaline earth metal ion and R 'is methyl or ethyl and must correspond to the alkyl part of the substituent R.
The reactions can be carried out in the presence or absence of solvents or diluents which are inert to the reactants. For example, the following are possible: aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene, toluene, xylenes, petroleum ether; halogenated hydrocarbons such as chlorobenzene, methylene chloride, ethylene chloride, chloroform; Ether and ethereal compounds such as dialkyl ether, dioxane, tetrahydrofuran; Nitriles such as acetonitrile; N, N-dialkylated amides such as dimethylformamide; Dimethyl sulfoxide and mixtures of such solvents with one another.
However, the reactions are expediently carried out in alcohols of the formula R'OH.
The reactions can be carried out at temperatures between - 200 and 1 800C, preferably 0 to 100 "C, and under normal pressure.
The starting compounds of formula II can e.g.
are prepared by reacting a compound of formula 1V
EMI2.3
with a compound of the formula
EMI2.4
where the various substituents are as defined above and Hal is halogen, in particular chlorine or bromine.
There are two possible asymmetric carbon atoms in the compounds of the formula I, which can be found at positions 1 and 2 in the following formula:
EMI2.5
1 * asymmetrical if
EMI2.6
means 2 * asymmetrical if R is methyl.
The preparation of the pure optical isomers can e.g.
by using already separated antipodes of the starting materials. These are e.g. obtained by salt formation with optically active bases with subsequent fractional crystallization and release of the corresponding antipode.
Regardless of the optical isomer, atropisomerism around the phenyl -N axis is usually observed in cases where the phenyl ring is unsymmetrical to this axis (possibly also by the presence of additional substituents).
Unless a specific synthesis for the isolation of pure isomers is carried out, a product is normally obtained as a mixture of all isomers.
The following examples serve to explain the invention in more detail without restricting it. The temperature specifications relate to degrees Celsius. Unless otherwise noted, the term racemic mixture is always used to refer to an active ingredient of the formula I which can occur in optically active forms.
Manufacturing example
Preparation of N- (1'-methoxycarbonyl-ethyl) -N-hydroxyacetyl-2,6-dimethylaniline of the formula
EMI3.1
(Verb. No. 1)
28.7 g of N- (1-methoxycarbonyl-ethyl) -N-acetoxyacetyl-2,6-dimethylaniline in 100 ml of abs. Methanol was added dropwise at room temperature to a methylate solution prepared from 2.8 g sodium and 180 ml methanol with stirring. After standing at room temperature for 60 hours, the methanol was evaporated off, the reaction mixture was poured onto 400 ml of ice water and neutralized with dilute hydrochloric acid, part of the reaction product precipitating out as a solid which was filtered off. The filtrate was extracted twice with methylene chloride, the combined extracts washed with water, dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and the methylene chloride evaporated.
The residue was recrystallized together with the solid precipitate from ethyl acetate, petroleum ether (40-60). The crystals then melt between 94-95 C.

Effect against Phytophthora irlfestans on Solanum lycopersicum (= tomatoes)
I curative effect
Tomato plants of the red gnome variety are sprayed with a zoospore suspension of the fungus after three weeks of cultivation and incubated in a cabin at 18 to 20 and saturated air humidity. Humidification interrupted after 24 hours. After the plants have dried, they are sprayed with a broth which contains the active substance formulated as wettable powder in a concentration of 0.06%. After the spray coating has dried on, the plants are set up again in the wet room for 4 days. The number and size of the typical leaf spots that appear after this time are the evaluation standard for the effectiveness of the tested substances.
II Prevent n'v systemic effects
The active substance, formulated as a wettable powder, is applied in a concentration of 0.006% (based on the soil volume) to the soil surface of three-week-old potted tomato plants of the Roter Gnom variety. After waiting three days, the underside of the plants is sprayed with a zoo spore suspension of Phytophthora infestans. They are then kept in a spray booth at 18 to 20 and saturated humidity for 5 days. After this time, typical leaf spots form, the number and size of which serve to evaluate the effectiveness of the substances tested.
When using compound 1 or 2, for example, a good effect was achieved in experiments I and II (reduction of the infection to less than 20% in comparison with untreated controls).
B. Effect against Plasmopara viticola (Bert. Et Curt.) (Berl. Et DeToni) on vines
I residual-prilvene effect
Vine cuttings of the Chasselas variety were grown in the greenhouse. In the 10-leaf stage, 3 plants were sprayed with a broth (0.05% active ingredient) prepared from the active ingredient formulated as wettable powder. After the spray coating had dried on, the plants on the underside of the leaf were evenly infected with the spore suspension of the fungus. The plants were then kept in a moist chamber for 8 days. After this time, clear disease symptoms appeared on the control plants. The number and size of the infection sites on the treated plants served as a benchmark for the effectiveness of the tested substances.
II Curative effect
Chasselas vine cuttings were grown in the greenhouse and infected at the 10-leaf stage with a spore suspension of Plasmopara viticola on the underside of the leaf. After 24 hours in the wet room, the plants were sprayed with a 0.05% active ingredient broth which had been prepared from a wettable powder of the active ingredient. The plants were then kept in the wet room for 7 days. After this time, the symptoms of the disease appeared: len control plants. The number and size of the infection sites on the treated plants served as a benchmark for the effectiveness of the tested substances.
The compounds of Formula I showed (e.g. Compounds No. 1 or 2) good foliar fungicidal activity in these two experiments.
C. Action against Pythium debaryanum on sugar beet (Beta vulgaris)
Effect after floor appliqué
The mushroom was cultivated on sterile oat grains and added to the earth-sand mixture. The soil infected in this way was filled into flower pots and sown with sugar beet seeds. Immediately after sowing, the test preparation formulated as a wettable powder was poured over the earth as an aqueous suspension (20 ppm of active ingredient based on the volume of the earth). The pots were then placed in the greenhouse at about 20 ° C. for 2-3 weeks. The soil was kept constantly moist by lightly showering over it.
When evaluating the tests, the emergence of sugar beet plants and the proportion of healthy and sick plants were determined.
When using compounds of formula 1, including compounds No. 1 or 2, the infection was inhibited to less than 20%.
