The present invention relates to a weapon with a barrel that can be loaded from the front, in particular a mine thrower. With such weapons, the problem sometimes arises of having to remove projectiles from the barrel, whether it is an ignition failure or a shot should not be fired after loading. Removing bullets from the barrel of a muzzle-loading weapon is delicate and dangerous.
No special aids are known for this, and any unloading must be done by tilting the weapon.
It is the object of the invention to make the removal of projectiles from the barrel of muzzle-loading weapons simple and safe. The weapon according to the invention is characterized in that the barrel has an inlet for a pressurized gas at its inner end, and that a pressurized gas source is provided at the inlet, from which pressurized gas can be introduced into the barrel to eject a projectile from the barrel. It is therefore possible to move the projectile by introducing e.g. Slowly move compressed air to the barrel muzzle and capture and remove it there.
For a more detailed explanation of the invention, an embodiment of a mine thrower is described below with reference to the drawing, in which
Figure 1 shows the rear part of the launcher, partly in section and
Figure 2 shows the diagram of a compressed gas source associated with the mine thrower.
The mine thrower has a barrel 2 seated in the breech head 1 with a caliber of, for example, 12 cm. The usual trigger and ignition device is not shown in detail and is also immaterial in connection with the invention. In Figure 1, a locking lever 3 is visible. In the closure head 1, a check valve 4 is inserted with quick coupling socket 5, which is dimensioned for the explosion pressure in the barrel. This valve represents an inlet into the rear end of the barrel 2, through which compressed gas can be admitted into the barrel.
An insert barrel 6 with a caliber of, for example, 8.1 cm is inserted into barrel 2, which barrel is supported on closure head 1 with a support tube 7. The inlet from the check valve 4 opens into the interior of the support tube. The support pan 8 at the outer end of the support tube 7 has a bore 9, through which an ignition rod 10 for firing projectiles in the run 6 passes with play. Through this bore 9, compressed gas introduced through the valve 4 can thus reach an annular space 11, which is formed between the support socket 8 and the closure head 12 of the insert barrel 6. A check valve 13 leads from this annular space 11 into the interior of the insert barrel 6. The check valve 13 is designed and dimensioned the same as the check valve 4, apart from the coupling socket.
If the mine thrower is used in the embodiment shown with the insert barrel 6 inserted, a projectile inserted into this barrel can be ejected by a compressed gas, in particular compressed air, through the valve 4, the support tube 7, the bore 9, the annular space 11 and the check valve 13 , initiated from behind in the barrel 6 and thus the projectile is raised and ejected.
An additional device suitable for the metered supply of compressed air is shown schematically in FIG. It has a pressure scent bottle 14 of, for example, 10 liter content and 150 bar pressure, which can be connected via a valve 15 to a manometer 16 and a reducing valve 17. The manometer 16 has the filling pressure of the bottle 14 checked. The reduced pressure is indicated by a manometer 18 and can be passed on via a shut-off valve 19. The operating pressure for the actual control of the device is determined by a further reducing valve 20. A line lubricator 21 follows.
A valve 22 is reversed from the position shown by a throttle 23 after a short delay to the right as soon as the operating pressure acts. With the valve 22, a manually operable valve 24 is connected, which acts directly on a valve 25, via which compressed air can be supplied to the weapon by means of a check valve 32 which can be pushed open when the device is connected to the nozzle 5. A preselection valve 26, which can be adjusted by means of a key, allows compressed air to be supplied to a reservoir 29 via a reversible check valve either via an adjustable throttle 27 or an adjustable throttle 28, one of which is assigned to the 12 cm caliber and the other to the 8.1 cm caliber, which is connected to the actuating cylinder of a control valve 30.
The pressure required to control this valve can be set by differently tensioning the return spring 31. The valve 22 acts in its shown rest position and the valve 30 in the working position via a reversible check valve 33 on the valve 24 for holding or resetting the same to its rest position.
The mode of operation and operation of the device for ejecting a floor is as follows:
After the working pressures, but at least the available pressure of the bottle 14 has been checked, and after that
Position of the valve 26 for caliber 12 or 8.1 caliber has been selected, compressed air is supplied via the valve 19.
The valve 25 is still closed and no compressed air reaches the mine thrower. Via the valve 22, the valve 24 is brought into the illustrated switch-off position or is securely held in the same. After a short time, the valve 22 is reversed via the throttle 23. If the valve 24 is now also reversed by hand to initiate the ejection process, compressed air reaches the valve 25 via the meanwhile reversed valve 22 and the valve 24 and reverses the same. The compressed air now reaches the mine thrower and begins to eject the projectile. At the same time, compressed air passes through the valve 26 to one of the throttles 27 or 28 and to the accumulator 29, depending on its presetting. The throttle 27 assigned to the smaller caliber 8.1 allows more air to pass through than the throttle 28 assigned to the larger caliber 12.
If, as assumed, for example, the insert barrel 6 has been inserted, a relatively small amount of air must be supplied in order to completely eject the projectile. Accordingly, the accumulator 29 is filled relatively quickly via the throttle 27 and the pressure in the accumulator relatively quickly reaches the value required for reversing the valve 30. With the uncontrolling of this valve, compressed air reaches valve 24 and controls it back into its rest position. The control pressure at valve 25 thus collapses and the restoring spring resets it to the rest position. The compressed air supply to the mine thrower is thus interrupted. The setting of all elements is selected so that the projectile has just been ejected to the extent that it can be grasped and removed.
If the operational run is not available, the processes take place immediately, with the difference that the throttle 28 that allows less air is now switched on. It therefore takes longer for the supply of compressed air to the mine thrower to be cut off, which takes into account the larger volume to be filled behind the floor.
Thanks to the quick coupling of the compressed air hose of the device with the connection piece 5 of the mine launcher, the device can be quickly and easily connected to different mine launchers and disconnected again. Only one device is required for several mine launchers.
Different versions are possible. In this way, the manometer 18 for the working pressure can be omitted, because in practical use it is sufficient to check whether there is sufficient pressure in the bottle 14. If an additional device is always used with the same weapon that cannot be modified, the pre-selection valve 26 and one of the throttles 27 or 28 can be omitted.
It would also be possible to determine the duration of the compressed air supply to the weapon differently, e.g. with a time-determining mechanical drive. On the other hand, more than two dosing times can also be preselectable in order to make the additional device usable with weapons or barrels of different calibres.
