Il en résulte de nombreux inconvénients et une augmentation des coûts, non seulement du fait de la difficulté à établir des rotations ou programmes d'utilisation sans faille, mais également une très grande complexité dans la réalisation des transports et, plus particulièrement, des transports internationaux;
la fig. 2 est une vue latérale schématique montrant une application possible du châssis selon l'invention au transport des containers et des transcontainers;
la fig. 3 est une vue latérale schématique montrant une application possible du châssis selon l'invention au transport d'autres véhicules;

The present invention relates to a chassis for a road transport vehicle making it possible to transport containers and transcontainers as well as other vehicles or various goods.
In the field of road transport, it is known that utility vehicles are generally designed so as to fulfill well-defined functions and it follows that these vehicles are difficult to adapt to fulfill other functions. In addition, manufacturers do not all refer to international standards and the number of various chassis existing on the market is particularly large.
This results in many drawbacks and an increase in costs, not only because of the difficulty in establishing flawless rotations or use programs, but also a very great complexity in the realization of transport and, more particularly, international transport. ;
Furthermore, it is known that the transport of unladen utility vehicles and, more particularly, of vehicles with bare chassis, constitutes an extremely expensive operation. Since the cockpit is usually much higher than the rest of the vehicle, this results in a large footprint which results in a high freight value for shipping and rail companies.
Moreover, when such a vehicle is delivered by road, it is necessary to provide for numerous costs for the driver (salary, accommodation, food, repatriation), which are added to the costs specific to the vehicle (insurance, fuel and depreciation, especially if it is a new vehicle).
The object of the invention is to remedy the aforementioned drawbacks and to provide a solution to these problems by allowing the inexpensive production of an almost universal chassis for a road transport vehicle.
To this end, the frame, object of the present invention, is characterized in that it comprises two parallel side members having a useful length of at least 6 m and supporting at least two cross members having a useful length of at least 2, 50 m, at least one of these cross members being movable and adjustable in position.
In one embodiment, the side members are formed by the side members of the actual chassis of the vehicle.
The invention will be better understood with the aid of the following description, given by way of example only, and with reference to the accompanying drawings and in which:
fig. 1 is a schematic perspective representation showing the whole of a chassis according to the invention:
fig. 2 is a schematic side view showing a possible application of the chassis according to the invention to the transport of containers and transcontainers;
fig. 3 is a schematic side view showing a possible application of the chassis according to the invention to the transport of other vehicles;
figs. 4 and 5 are perspective representations showing possible applications of the chassis according to the invention to various transports.
If we now refer to fig. 1, this shows a frame according to the invention which essentially comprises two side members 1 and 2 on which are placed at least two cross members.
To fix the ideas, there is shown in FIG. 1 a frame comprising three cross members, namely a front cross member 3, an intermediate cross member 4 and a rear cross member 5. The side members generally have a length of the order of 6 m, while the cross members generally have a length of the order 2.50 m, which corresponds to the dimensions usually adopted for containers and transcontainers.
It should be noted that fig. 1 shows sleepers which have a hollow rectangular shape in cross section. It is obvious that this shape is given only as an example and that these crosspieces can have other shapes. In particular, they can be elements of L-shaped, H-shaped, I-shaped or U-shaped beams, or else they can be formed by other suitable structures, single or double, welded or assembled otherwise. In general, whether they have angular or rounded shapes, these structures must obviously be sufficiently rigid and strong to withstand the maximum expected loads. Furthermore, the aforementioned side members can be merged with the side members of the actual chassis of the vehicle.
Referring again to fig. 1, it should be realized that the front cross member 3 and the rear cross member 5, which are generally intended to support containers, are separated by a distance of 6 m and can be made integral with the side members. On the other hand, the intermediate cross member 4 must necessarily be movable insofar as, together with another cross member which is usually the front cross member 3, it constitutes the adjustable support device which is required for the transport of another vehicle, the distance between the two cross members having to correspond substantially to the wheelbase of the transported vehicle.
The mounting of these cross members on the side members can be achieved using conventional devices or, more simply, by using
U-shaped stirrups, which overlap the spar and whose upper branches are fixed to the cross member. It is obvious that each bracket can perfectly well be replaced by a backing plate with which are associated, for example, threaded rods and that other fixing devices can also be envisaged without departing from the scope of the invention.
In general, the previously described chassis is designed so that, when it is mounted on a vehicle, the cross members are located at a height slightly greater than that of all the projections specific to the road transport vehicle.
However, in certain particular cases, it may be desirable to provide elements for raising the sleepers, for example joists, which would be similar to the frame members and which would be respectively fixed to the latter by bolting or otherwise so as to support the sleepers. . It should be noted that these longitudinal beams serve at the same time as reinforcing elements for the side members of the chassis according to the invention.
According to fig. 1, the two ends of each of the crossbars carry at least one member 6, for example a lug or a welded ring, which forms a lashing point for the load placed on the frame. In addition, each of the ends of the crosspieces has a housing 7, which is intended to receive an upright of the type shown in FIGS. 4 and 5. The end cross members, that is to say the front cross member 3 and the rear cross member 5, also comprise, at each of their ends, a rotation locking device, of the type generally referred to in English. Twist lock, intended to block a container or a transcontainer in position.
In fig. 1, there is also shown in broken lines devices which are designated as a whole by 9 and which are removably placed at each of the ends of two of the sleepers. These devices are generally in the form of corner elements, making it possible in particular to wedge the wheels of a transported vehicle in position.
It is obvious that the embodiments of the various devices and accessories provided on the sleepers can be modified without departing from the scope of the invention. For example, instead of providing the previously mentioned corner devices, it is possible to arrange for the cross members themselves to have a hollow shape intended to retain the wheels of a transported vehicle.
In particular, it is possible to provide profiled elements with a flat bottom, the vertical sides of which have their upper part folded outwards. It is also possible to produce each crosspiece by two profiles of triangular, square, rectangular, circular or other section, joined together by a certain number of spacers and / or side elements, so as to have hollow parts intended to retain the wheels associated with an axle of the transported vehicle. In this case, it is desirable that these cross members are adjustable in position along the side members.
If we now refer to fig. 2, this shows a possible application of the chassis according to the invention to a truck supporting a container 10, while its semi-trailer supports two half-containers 1 1 and 12. In the same way, FIG. 3 shows the application of the chassis according to the invention to the transport of another road vehicle 13, which itself supports an automobile 14. FIGS. 4 and 5 show various possible applications of the chassis according to the invention to platforms with uprights or sides. It is obvious that the chassis according to the invention is applicable in many fields, as specialists will realize.
For example, by providing or not providing additional sleepers and by covering the frame thus obtained with a sheet metal plate or with boards or planks, it is possible to produce a flatbed truck, this platform itself being able to serve as a base for mounting any bodywork.
Other modifications can be made to the embodiments described, in the field of technical equivalences, without departing from the scope of the invention.
