J. Org.
Chem. 7 4101 (1965),
Tetrahedron 1967, 487,
Tetrahedron 1967, 493.
Formel I gebildet.
Herstellungsbeispiel a) Herstellung von a- or-(2- Chlor- 6-methylanilino)-propionäure- methylester
Man erhält 25,9 g a-(2-Chlor-6-methylanilino)-propionsäuremethylester, Siede punkt72-75 /0.001 Torr.

Flüssige Aufarbeitungsformen: a) in Wasser dispergierbare Wirkstoffkonzentrate:
In Wasser dispergierbare Wirkstoffkonzentrate, d. h.

PATENTANSPRUCH I
The present invention relates to a microbicidal agent containing a compound of the formula I as at least one active component
EMI1.1
wherein R1 and R2 are independently chlorine or bromine, and a method for controlling phytopathogenic fungi and bacteria using such an agent.
Microbicidal agents with this structure are new.
DT-OS No. 2,311,897 describes herbicidal mono-, di- or trihaloacetyl-phenylamines. No information is given about the plant fungicidal effect. On the contrary, it is stated on page 9, paragraph 2, that the claimed phytotoxic mixture can additionally contain other components, such other components being expressly understood as fungicides.
As shown in the biological examples of the present invention mentioned further below, the structurally closest comparable compounds of the aforementioned literature are in fact fungicidally inactive. The prior art thus gave no indications of a microbicidal effect in a sub-area of this class of substances.
The small group of N- (1'-methoxycarbonylethyl) -N-halo-acetyl-2,6- (disubst.) Anilines of the formulas of this invention has not previously been described in the literature.
It is extraordinarily surprising that this group, in contrast to the anilinoacetic esters and propionic acid esters described above, of DT-OS 2,311,897 has strong plant fungicidal properties without adverse effects on the crop.
These compounds with the characteristic chemical structure of the formula I have both preventive and curative action against phytopathogenic fungi on crops such as, for example, cereals, corn, rice, vegetables, sugar beets, soybeans, peanuts, on fruit trees, ornamental plants, but above all on vines, Hops, cucumber plants (cucumbers, squash, melons) and Solanaceae such as potatoes, tobacco and tomatoes.
These active ingredients can be used to contain or destroy fungi occurring on plants or parts of plants (fruits, flowers, foliage, stalks, tubers, roots), with parts of plants growing later also being spared from such fungi. The active ingredients are effective against the phytopathogenic fungi belonging to the following classes: Ascomycetes; Basidiomycetes like especially rust fungi; Fungi imperfecti; but then especially against the Oomycetes belonging to the class of Phycomycetes such as Phytophthora, Peronospora, Pseudoperonospora Pythium or Plasmopara.
In addition, the compounds of the formula I have a systemic effect.
They can also be used to treat seeds (fruits, tubers, grains) and plant cuttings to protect against fungal infections.
The preferred compound of the formula I is N- (1'-methoxycarbonyl-ethyl) -N-chloroacetyl-2-chloro-6-methylaniline of the formula
EMI1.2
which has the mentioned favorable properties in a particularly advantageous manner and at very low concentrations of active ingredient. The treated crop plants are not impaired at the required low application rates.
The compounds of the formula I have an asymmetric carbon atom and can be split into optical antipodes in the customary manner. As a rule, the enantiomeric D-form with a negative angle of rotation (measured in methanol) has the stronger microbicidal effect. Unless otherwise noted in the following section, when one of the active ingredients of the formula I is mentioned, the mixture of both enantiomeric forms is always meant.
To widen or change the spectrum of activity, the active compounds of the formula I can be mixed with other known fungicides, bactericides, fungistatics, bactericides, but also with insecticides, acaricides, herbicides and, because of their systemic action, which allows soil application, also with nematicides , whereby partially synergistically increased effects are achieved.
The compounds are prepared, for example, by reacting an aniline of the formula II
EMI1.3
with the methyl α-halopropionate
EMI1.4
and further reaction of the intermediate product IV formed
EMI1.5
with a haloacetylating agent, preferably with the halide or anhydride of the monochloroacetic or monobromoacetic acid in question.
In formulas II, III and IV, R1 has the meanings given for formula I, while val in formula III generally represents halogen, but preferably represents chlorine or bromine.
The reactions can be carried out in the presence or absence of solvents which are inert towards the reactants. For example, aliphatic, aromatic or halogenated hydrocarbons, ethers, dioxane, tetrahydrofuran, dimethylformamide, and mixtures of such solvents with one another are suitable.
Suitable haloacetylating agents are preferably haloacetic anhydrides, such as chloroacetic anhydride and haloacetic acid halides, such as chloroacetyl chloride or bromide. However, the reaction can also be carried out with haloacetic acids, their esters or amides.
The reaction temperatures are between 0 and 1800 C, preferably between 20 and 100 "C. When using haloacetyl halides, the acylation is advantageously carried out in the presence of an acid-binding agent or condensation agent such as trialkylamine or inorganic bases. Dimethylformamide has a catalyzing effect. The acid-binding agent can also an excess of the respective aniline derivative of the formula II is used,
Details on the preparation of the intermediates of the formula IV can be found in the methods as generally given for the preparation of anilinoalkanoic acid esters in the following publications:
J. Org.
Chem. 7 4101 (1965),
Tetrahedron 1967, 487,
Tetrahedron 1967, 493.
To prepare pure optical antipodes of the formula I, it is advantageous to prepare the aniline of the formula II and the a halopropionic acid, e.g. B. the a-bromopropionic acid, the corresponding aniline propionic acid of the formula V.

Solid processing forms: dusts, grit, granules, coated granules, impregnation granules - and homogeneous granules.
Liquid processing forms: a) Active substance concentrates dispersible in water:
Wettable powders, pastes, emulsions; b) Solutions.
The active ingredients are mixed with solid carriers for the production of solid forms (dusts, grit). As carriers come z. B. kaolin, talc, bolus, loess, chalk, limestone, lime grit, attapulgite, dolomite, diatomaceous earth, precipitated silica, alkaline earth silicates, sodium and potassium aluminum silicates (feldspars and mica), calcium and magnesium sulfates, magnesium oxide, ground plastics, fertilizers such as ammonium sulfate , Ammonium phosphate, ammonium nitrate, urea, ground vegetable products such as grain flour, tree bark flour, wood flour, nutshell flour, cellulose powder, residues of plant extracts, activated carbon, etc., each individually or as mixtures with one another.
The grain size of the carrier materials is expediently up to approx. 0.1 mm for dusts, approx. 0.075 to 0.2 mm for grit and 0.2 mm or more for granulates.
Granules can be produced by dissolving an active ingredient of the formula I in an organic solvent and applying the resulting solution to a granulated mineral, e.g. B. attapulgite, SiO2, granicalcium, bentonite, etc. applies and then the organic solvent evaporates again.
Polymer granules can be made by e.g. a finished, porous polymer granulate (urea / formaldehyde, polyacrylonitrile, polyester and others) with a certain surface area and a favorable, predetermined absorption / desorption ratio with the active ingredients e.g. impregnated in the form of their solutions (in a low boiling solvent) and the solvent removed.
Such polymer granules can also be applied in the form of microgranules with bulk weights of preferably 300 g / liter to 600 g / liter with the aid of atomizers. The atomization can be carried out over large areas of crops with the help of aircraft.
Granules can also be obtained by compacting the carrier material with the active ingredients and additives and then comminuting.
These mixtures can also be added to stabilize the active ingredient and / or nonionic, anionic and cationic substances, which, for example, improve the adhesion of the active ingredients to plants and parts of plants (adhesives and adhesives) and / or better wettability (wetting agents) and dispersibility (dispersants ) guarantee.
For example, the following substances come into question: olein / lime mixture, cellulose derivatives (methyl cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose), hydroxyethylene glycol ethers of mono- and dialkylphenols with 5-15 ethylene oxide residues per molecule and 8-9 carbon atoms in the alkyl residue, ligninsulphonic acid, its alkali and polyethylene glycol ethers (carbowax ), Fatty alcohol polyglycol ethers with 5-20 ethylene oxide residues per molecule and 8-18 carbon atoms in the fatty alcohol part, condensation products of ethylene oxide, propylene oxide, polyvinylpyrrolidones, polyvinyl alcohols, condensation products of urea / formaldehyde and latex products.

Wettable powders and pastes are obtained by mixing the active ingredients with dispersants and pulverulent carriers in suitable devices until homogeneous and grinding. Suitable carriers are, for example, those mentioned above for the solid work-up forms. In some cases it is advantageous to use mixtures of different carriers.
The following can be used, for example, as dispersants: condensation products of sulfonated naphthalene and sulfonated naphthalene derivatives with formaldehyde, condensation products of naphthalene or naphthalene sulfonic acid with phenol and formaldehyde, and alkali, ammonium and alkaline earth salts of ligninsulfonic acid, furthermore alkylarylsulfonates, such as dibalcohol sulfonates of fatty arylsulfonates, alkali metal sulfonates and alkaline earth metal sulfonates Salts of sulfated hexadecanols, heptadecanols, octadecanols and salts of sulfated fatty alcohol glycol ethers, the sodium salt of oleyl methyl tauride, ditertiary ethylene glycols, dialkyldilaurylammonium chloride and fatty acid alkali and alkaline earth salts.
Silicone oils, for example, can be used as antifoam agents.
The active ingredients are mixed, ground, sieved and passed with the additives listed above in such a way that the solid portion of the wettable powders does not exceed a particle size of 0.02 to 0.04 mm and of the pastes of 0.03 mm.
For the preparation of emulsion concentrates and pastes, dispersants such as those listed in the previous sections, organic solvents and water are used. Examples of suitable solvents are alcohols, benzene, xylenes, toluene, dimethyl sulfoxide and mineral oil fractions boiling in the range from 120 to 350 ° C. The solvents must be practically odorless, non-phytotoxic and inert to the active ingredients.
