Abstract

The locking valve is closed with controlled torque and the valve has a helical screw actuator for the closing element, actuated manually by a handle. This valve has a coupling mechanism which restricts the turning moment to protect the plastics seal within the valve and ensures its long life. Between the screw type actuator and the handle is fitted a coupling which does not rotate on the screw shank and it is held by a spring (5) on the handle. A fixed stop (20) is provided between this coupling (4) and the handle to limit the travel of the spring between the position of minimum deformation and a position of maximum deformation.
