1499167 Valves TRUFLO Ltd 23 Aug 1976 [22 Aug 1975] 34994/75 Heading F2V A valve comprises a rigid elongate arcuate operating element 24 extending axially from a stem 16 mounted in a seal 17 in valve body 10 or in a member attached thereto, the stem 16 being attached to a valve member for rotating it to control fluid flow through the valve, the operating element 24 being surrounded by a flexible tube 25 sealed at one end to the valve body 10 or member attached thereto and being closed at the other end or secured to a closure member 30 so that the element 24 is completely enclosed by a sealed structure. The closure member 30 may be formed as a handle, or a freely rotatable handle may be mounted at the end of the tube 25, which is a metal bellows and may have a protective casing 32. The valve member may be a ball 11, or the valve may be a butterfly or plug valve, rotation being restricted by engagement of a stop plate 19 on the stem 16 and stop pins 20, 21, or of stop pin (41) on the stem 16 and stops (40), Figs. 4, 5 (not shown); alternatively the valve may be a gate or globe valve with no restriction on rotation.
