Abstract

1518202 Valves BANIDES ET DEBEAURAIN ETAB 9 Dec 1975 [11 Dec 1974] 50386/75 Heading F2V In a rotary ball valve the closure member 2 is biased to the closed position by a helical torsion spring 4 and is locked in open position by lugs 22 on a sleeve 18 engaging in recesses 24, 25 on the body. The valve stem 10 has a squared sectioned portion 16 slidably but non- rotatably received in the sleeve. Pressure on a push button 19 against the spring loading 26 moving the lugs 22 out of the recesses 24, 25 allows the spring 4 to rotate the closure member closed. The closure member is reset to the open position by a tool engaging the flattened end 17 of the stem which is limited to a 90 degree rotation by radial lugs 11, 12 engaging stops 14. In a modification the sleeve is non-rotatably received in the body and has radial lugs engaged in recesses in the end of the stem so that axial movement of the sleeve releases the closure members for rotation.
