The present invention relates to a corner assembly device for hollow profiles, tubes or having any shapes in section as long as one part is tubular or hollow.
There are many devices for this purpose, in particular those in which a square is introduced into the two sections which must be assembled at right angles and then into them using wedges. There are also devices in which a bracket introduced into the profiles is screwed into them.
However, these devices have certain drawbacks, either they are difficult to dismantle, or they do not make it possible to strongly apply one against the other the profiles to be assembled by their cut edge at 45.
The present invention tends to remedy the aforementioned drawbacks and relates to a corner assembly device for hollow profiles which is distinguished by the fact that it comprises a corner piece comprising two internal bearing faces and two supporting faces. '' external supports, the internal support faces being arranged at right angles to each other as well as the external support faces, this corner piece being housed in the service position entirely inside profiles to be assembled; and clamping members each passing through a bore made in a wall of a section and screwed into a thread made in the external bearing surface in contact with this wall, and by the fact that the axis of the thread is offset from the axis of the corresponding hole in the direction of the angle of the joint.
The single figure of the appended drawing illustrates schematically and by way of example a preferred embodiment of the assembly device according to the invention.
The device is illustrated in the service position, showing the assembly of two tubes 1, 2 forming an angle of 90 between them.
These tubes are cut at 45 at their ends to be assembled so as to form the desired 90 angle when their edges are pressed against each other.
The assembly device comprises a corner piece 3 having the general shape of an X housed in the service position inside the tubes 1, 2. This corner piece has two external support surfaces 4, 5 and two internal support surfaces 6, 7, the internal support faces being significantly longer than the external support faces.
It should be noted that the corner piece 3 can be obtained by cutting a profile of suitable section.
The outer bearing faces are arranged in perpendicular planes and are intended to come into contact with the inner face of the outer wall 8, 9 of each of the tubes 1, 2. The inner bearing faces 6, 7 also form a right angles to each other and are in the service position applied against the internal faces of the internal walls 10, 11 of the tubes 1, 2.
Thus, the distance separating the planes comprising the external 4 and internal 6 bearing faces is equal to or slightly less than the distance a separating the internal faces of the walls 8, 10 of the tube 1.11 the same applies to the external 5 and internal faces 7 which are arranged in parallel planes spaced apart by a value equal to the distance separating the internal faces of the walls 9 and 11 of the tube 2.
The corner piece 3 comprises at the end of the internal bearing faces 6, 7 a rib 12, 13 provided with a groove 14, 15 whose opening faces the internal face of the external wall of the tube 1 , 2 corresponding.
These grooves 14, 15 are intended to receive adjustable stops which can be formed in different ways. The stop included in the groove 14 comprises a nut 16 associated with a locknut 17 whose distance between faces corresponds to the width of this groove 14 and a screw 18. In the service position, the screw 18 is accessible through a borehole. 19 made on the longitudinal axis of tube 1. The diameter of this hole is greater than that of the screw, but less than the perimeter of the nut so that in screws
If the screw 18 in the nut 16, the latter is pressed against the
internal face of wall 8 of tube 1, screw 18 bearing against the bottom of groove 14. It is thus possible to firmly apply bearing face 6 against wall 10 of tube 1.
It should be noted that the length of the screw 18 is such that its head does not or practically not protrude outside the tube 1.
The stop cooperating with the groove 15 also comprises a screw 18 but the latter is screwed through a bore in the wall 9 which is made on the longitudinal axis of the tube in a plate 20, having housings intended to receive the ends of the rib 13. By screwing the screw 18 it is also possible to apply the plate 20 against the external wall 9 of the tube 2 and consequently to apply the internal bearing face 7 against the wall 11 of this tube 2 This type of stop has the advantage of locally reinforcing the wall 9 of the tube 2. This is particularly important because it is in the vicinity of the corners of a frame that it is desired to fix the hinges when this frame is used for realization of a door or a window.
These hinges can then be fixed by screws which can be screwed into a material thickness greater than the thickness of the wall of the tube 2.
In the example illustrated, the external bearing faces 4, 5 of the corner piece 3 comprise flat portions 21, 22 and flat portions 23, 24 perpendicular to the portions 21, 22.
The assembly device also comprises clamping members constituted by two bolts with conical heads provided with an internal hexagon 25. 26 which are passed through bores 27, 28 of the external walls 8, 9 of the profile on the longitudinal axis of these, and screwed into a thread (not shown) of each on
external bearing face 4, 5.
The holes 27, 28 have a larger diameter than the
diameter of bolts 25, 26 and are made on an offset b axis
with respect to the axis c of the threads made in each on
external bearing face, in the direction of the angle of the assembly of the two profiles 1, 2.
Finally, the assembly device comprises other
tightening, consisting of two bolts with conical heads fitted with a
inner hexagon 29, 30. Bolts 29, 30 are longer and
same diameter as bolts 25, 26. Bolt 29 passes through a
hole in the outer wall 8 and is screwed into a thread of the
flat portion 24 of the external bearing face 5.
Likewise, bolt 30 passes through a hole in the outer wall.
ne 9 and is screwed into an internal thread of the flat portion 23 of the
external bearing face 4.
The threads of the external bearing faces 4, 5 are offset
each on one side with respect to the longitudinal axis of the tubes 1, 2,
so that bolts 29, 30 cross at right angles
but pass one beside the other.
The conical heads of bolts 25. 26 are supported on the
outer walls 8, 9 of the tubes 1.2 deforming these walls locally
against the flat portions 21, 22 of the bearing faces 4, 5.
The tightening of bolts 25, 26 and 29, 30 causes on the one hand
the application by force of the internal bearing faces 6, 7 against the wall
corresponding 10. he of one of the tubes 1.2 and on the other hand the applica
tion of the outer walls 8, 9 of the tubes 1, 2 against the bearing faces
external 4, 5 which causes, thanks to the offset of the axes b c, the
clamping of the cut faces to the tab of the tubes 1, 2 against each other
the other.
The device described has the following main advantages:
a) The tubes are tightly clamped against each other by their
end face cut at 45.
b) The assembly thus produced is easily removable, all the more so when it is provided in advance that the frame must be dismantled and reassembled. washers are placed in the flat portion 21, 22 to prevent any deformation of the walls 8, 9 of the tubes.
c) The tubes are strongly applied against large on
internal bearing faces 6. 7 forming a right angle.
d) The corner piece can be locked inside the tubes with
using adjustable stops.
e) The thickness of the external wall of the tubes can be locally reinforced.
It is obvious that the assembly device described can be used not only for fixing at right angles to two miter cut tubes but also for assembling any profile having a tubular or hollow part.
In particular, this assembly makes it possible to produce door frames. These frames have the advantage that, even in the service position fixed on its hinges, all the clamping and locking members are accessible.
In a variant not shown, the internal bearing faces 6, 7 could have a clearance over part of their length so as to create two bearing zones located on either side of this clearance.
