The invention relates to a biological toilet, comprising a container in which excrement and possibly rubbish are brought to accelerated decomposition by heat from a heating element and with the supply of air by means of a ventilation device provided with an air vent.
In a previously known toilet of this type, the material that is to be put to rot is carried directly by the heating element, which results in excessive drying out, which hinders effective rot.
The object of the invention is to avoid this significant disadvantage and the use of a relatively expensive electric fan, which forms the ventilation device in the known toilet, in addition, the toilet can be operated not only with electricity but also with a flammable gas and the Smell in the fume cupboard, which can otherwise be annoying in densely built-up areas, is largely eliminated.
This is achieved according to the invention in that the heating element is in the form of a closed pipe loop which contains a liquid heat transfer medium and which is provided in the container between the material that is to be put to rot and a collecting space underneath that a corrosion-resistant one above the pipe loop Grate is provided as a base for the goods that are to be put to rot, and that a thermosiphon pump is inserted in the pipe loop, which circulates the heat transfer medium while supplying heat from a heat source that also heats the medium.
It is advisable to design the pipe loop with the thermosiphon pump as a unit so that it can be removed for repair or replacement without having to remove the grate with the material that is to be put to rot.
A chimney is preferably provided above the heat source, the upper end of which protrudes a little into the air vent of the container. In this way the warm air rising through the chimney will cause an ejector effect on the gas in the container, so that an electrically driven fan can be omitted and the toilet e.g. B. can only be operated with flammable gas.
In order to improve the working conditions of the thermosiphon pump, a secondary connection can be provided parallel to it for any gas present in the pipe loop.
In order to increase the evaporation of liquid that collects on the bottom of the container, a part of the pipe loop expediently extends into the vicinity of the container bottom.
In order to make the heat consumption more economical, the container preferably has heat-insulated walls in the form of a centrifugally cast hollow plastic body filled with hardened foam plastic.
In order to reduce the odor in the air vent of the container, the heavier gases in the container are expediently directed past a gas flame or an electrical incandescent winding. In order to encourage the falling of decomposed material from the grate, a shaking and shaking mechanism is preferably provided in connection with this. The heating element can be thermostatically controlled in order to adapt the heat output to the decomposition process.
An embodiment of the invention is described below with reference to the drawings. Show it:
1 shows a side view, partly in section, of a biological lump according to the invention,
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the pipe loop with thermosiphon pump of the toilet shown in Fig. 1 and
3 shows, on a larger scale, a vertical section through the thermosiphon pump, part of the pipe loop and the secondary connection of the toilet shown in FIG.
In Fig. 1, the container 1, which consists of at least two parts, namely a bottom part and a top part, is shown. The container walls can advantageously consist of a centrifugally cast, hollow plastic body which is filled with hardened foam plastic. The bottom part is provided with an opening at the front or rear edge for the removal of the residues remaining after decay and with an air inlet. The upper part has a seat opening at the top to which a cover 2 and, in a slightly higher area, an air vent 3 is assigned. A corrosion-resistant grate 4 is provided inside the bottom part, which carries the excrement or the waste or substances that are to be put to rot.
If necessary, a material is first placed on the grate, which material absorbs some of the moisture and partially fills the openings in the grate. A closed pipe loop 5 is provided under the grate, into which a thermosiphon pump 7 is inserted and which has a part 6 which projects closer to the bottom of the container. The thermosiphon pump consists of an annular container, in the central part of which the heat source in the form of an electrical heat cartridge or a gas burner is arranged. In the extension of this central part of the thermosiphon pump, a chimney 9 extends a little into the air vent 3. In order to improve the working conditions of the pump, a secondary connection 8 is provided parallel to it for any gas present in the pipe system.
The pipe loop and the pump contain a heat transfer medium that is heated by the heat source. As shown in Fig. 1, the pump 7, the secondary connection 8 and the heat source can be arranged in a heat-insulating jacket 11 which is provided with a pipe 10 through which as a result of the heat generated by the heat source and the suction generated by the chimney heavier gases resulting from the putrefaction are sucked out, which are then burned by the heat source, so that an odor in the air vent is practically avoided. If necessary, a separate gas flame or an electric glow coil can be attached separately for the combustion of combustible gas originating from the putrefaction. In the upper part of the container, a suitable slot for the waste can optionally be provided.
