Method for the machining of a bar material and installation for the implementation of this method The present invention relates to a method for the machining of a bar material, in an installation comprising workstations arranged as follows. one after the other, opposite which scrolls said bar, which advances step by step.
The invention also relates to a transfer machine for implementing the aforementioned method, comprising means capable of advancing step by step the working bar and work stations arranged one after the other, in gaze of which the bar scrolls.
One of the difficulties presented by the implementation of the aforementioned method lies in the very exact determination of the successive stop positions of the bar corresponding to its machining positions, while avoiding any possible errors that risk being added, which would lead to to an offset of the machining operations on the bar.
To resolve this positioning problem, it has been proposed to provide transverse notches in the bar, thus forming a rack, with which a pinion has been made to cooperate by: advancing the bar step by step. However, with such arrangements, the advance is correct at the start, then, the locating device being insufficiently precise, the spacing of the notches changes gradually.
The aim of the present invention is to overcome this drawback.
The method according to the invention is characterized by the fact that, in one of said workstations, means are provided for locating recessed or raised on the bar, and by the fact that between each of the movements of the latter a positioning member is applied to it having a contact surface whose relief is 1-a reciprocal of a section of the bar having several of said locating means, so as to reduce the influence of irregularity that would present the marks in their spacing and in their conformation on the precision of the transfer of the bar.
The installation for setting up this process is characterized by the fact that it comprises, at one of its workstations, means for providing, in the bar, locating means, and by the fact that it com carries a positioning member movably mounted so as to be able to be approached and away from the bar, this positioning member having a contact surface whose relief is the reciprocal of a section of the bar provided with said locating means.
The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of an installation for implementing the method which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a schematic view thereof.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the bar in different phases of the machining of the elements. The installation shown schematically in FIG. 1 comprises a bench 1 having a guide groove 2 in which slides a bar 3 which thus scrolls opposite various machining stations described below.
The installation comprises an advance device 4 comprising a clamp 5, controlled hydraulically, effecting a back and forth movement parallel to the direction of the bar, and which clamps the latter and drives it in a sense, as she loosens and slides over it on her return movements. After each advance movement, a milling cutter 6, occupying the first machining station, forms a marking notch 7 in the bar.
It should be noted that this notch already constitutes part of the profile of the parts to be produced. A positioning member 8, in the form of a comb, the shape of the teeth of which corresponds to the shape of the notches 7, engages, when the bar is stationary, in a plurality of the notches 7 and thus positions the bar, the spacing of the teeth of this comb corresponding exactly to the desired advance of the bar.
The following machining stations have spindle elements 9 driving rotary cutting tools; in addition, clamping means 10 hold the bar firmly in place during machining operations. The last machining station comprises a cut-off cutter 11 separating the finished parts, designated by 3a, from the bar 3.
Fig. 2 illustrates the main phases of machining On the left of the figure, bar 3 is raw then, moving to the right, it has notches 7. On the right are represented the machined parts still attached to the bar and, finally, a finished part 3a which has just been detached from the bar.
The various machining operations are carried out simultaneously, as follows When the positioning member 8 engages in the notches 7 of the bar, the latter is still loosened, so that the positioning member can correct , if necessary, the longitudinal position of the bar, Because the positioning member is engaged with several notches 7, and that it is itself strictly exact, it corrects any accidental shift of one or more notches, or any conformation error thereof, by forcing slightly in the notches.
Once the bar is positioned, the bar is blocked by the clamping means 10 and the positioning member 8 is withdrawn. The cutter 6 then forms a new registration notch 7, at the same time as the various spindle elements 9 work. At the same time, the finished part 3a is separated from the bar by the parting cutter 11 which cuts the bar along the dotted line. 12 of fig. 2, in line with the positioning notches 7. Thus, the duration of the cutting operations is reduced.
Once the various machining operations have been completed, the bar is released and gripped again by the feed device 5 which moves it by one step and returns to its starting position after the positioning member 8 has come into action; the cycle then begins again.
It should be noted that the position of each registration notch is independent of accidental errors which could occur during the shaping of the preceding notches, either in their spacing or in their conformation, so that such errors do not add up.
When starting up the installation, the first locating notches 7 can be produced by the cutter 6 without the comb 8 intervening. Due to the possible imprecision of the registration, this first section of the bar may not be machined.
In order to avoid the repetition of this start-up from one bar to another, it will be advantageous, when a bar reaches its end, to hook the next bar to it, so that it is directly pulled by the previous one for its introduction into the machine.
It should also be noted that the marking notches 7 can be replaced by any suitable markings such as protrusions, recesses, or the like, provided that the marking member 8 then presents the reciprocal of a certain number of these marks. . However, in the example shown, and as shown in FIG. 2, the notches 7 constitute one of the same machining operations that the part must have, which represents a saving of time.
