Als Azofarbstoffe kommen insbesondere Mono-, Dis- oder Pallyazofarbstoffe in Betracht; sie können koordinativ gebundene Metallatome enthalten. Sie ge hören z. Process for the preparation of azo dyes The invention relates to a process for the preparation of azo dyes of the formula
EMI0001.0004
wherein A is the radical of an azo dye, y is a divalent radical, R1 and R2 are identical or different, optionally substituted alkyl, aralkyl or cycloalkyl radicals or R1, R- and -NO- or R1,
-N - and y
EMI0001.0017
where B denotes the remainder of an intermediate product which can be converted into an azo dye residue A, converted into an azo dye by coupling.
Particularly suitable azo dyes are mono-, dis- or palyazo dyes; they can contain coordinatively bonded metal atoms. You hear z. B. which together represent a heterocyclic ring system and n is an integer, characterized in that a compound of the formula benzene-azo-benzene, benzene-azo-naphthalene, benzene-azo-pyrazolone, benzene-azo-acyl) ssigsäure- arylamide, benzene azo-phenol # -, benzal-azo-benzene-azo-phenol-, thiazole-azo-benzene-,
Thiadiazole-azo-pyrazolone, pyridine-azo-indole or quinoline-azo-benzene series.
Preferred substituents in these are those which are customary in acetate silk and polyester dyes, e.g. B. halogen atoms or cyano, nitro or hydroxyl groups or optionally substituted alkyl, alkoxy, alkylsulfonyl, alkoxy

arise.
The coupling of an intermediate of the formula (II) with another dye or dye intermediate is carried out in a known manner, advantageously in a weakly alkylic to acidic medium, optionally buffered. The dyes of the formula (I) can also be obtained by oxidative coupling.
The dyes obtained can, for. B. filter by Ab, optionally after concentration or precipitate from, can be obtained. In the course of the separation or in a further stage, the anions can be exchanged for other anions, e.g. B. against methyl sulfate, ethyl sulfate, sulfate, disulfate, perchlorate, chloride, bromide, iodide, phosphate, phosphorus molybdate, benzene sulfate, acetate,
Propionate or benzo anions or against complex anions, e.g. B. that of zinc chloride double salts.
The new dyes are preferably used for dyeing, padding or printing moldings, in particular special fibers, threads or textiles made therefrom, made from polymers made from more than 80% acrylonitrile, for example from polyacrylonitrile, or copolymers made from 80 to 95% acrylonitrile and 20- 5% vinyl acetate, methyl acrylate or methyl methacrylate, etc. It is particularly advantageous to dye in aqueous,
neutral or acidic medium at boiling point or at temperature

are dissolved in 200 parts of water and treated with a solution of the diazonium salt of 17.3 parts of 1-amino-2 = carbonyl, alkylcarbonyloxy, carboxamide or sulfonic acid amide groups.
If necessary, suitable bridge members y are preferably. substituted alkylene groups which can be interrupted by heteroatoms. y can also be z. B. with R1 and -N- form a ring system so that ring groupings such. B. turen over 100 C under pressure. Very level colorations are obtained here even without the use of retarders. Mixed fabrics that contain a polyacrylic nitrile fiber content can also be dyed very well.
Those dyes that have good solubility in organic solvents. own, are also suitable for coloring natural plastic masses or dissolved or undissolved plastic, synthetic resin or natural resin masses. In this way, polyacrylonitrile can be colored in light and wet-fast tones. Some of the new dyes can, for. B. for dyeing ben of tannic cotton, wool, silk, regenerier ter Cell'ulose, synthetic polyamides and paper.
It. it has been shown that mixtures of two or more of the new dyes can also advantageously be used.
The dyeings and prints obtained have good light, washing, perspiration, sublimation, pleating, decaturing, ironing, water, seawater, dry cleaning, over-dyeing and dyeing Solvent fastness.
In the following examples, the parts are parts by weight and the percentages are percentages by weight. The temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Example 1 25.5 parts of the compound of the formula chloro-4-nitrobenzene which melts at 125-127. The dye of the formula is obtained
EMI0003.0001
which dyes polyacrylitrile fibers in level red shades of excellent lightfastness and very good wet fastness.
EMI0003.0007
If the 25.5 parts of the coupling compound listed above are replaced by the equivalent amount of the compound of the formula
EMI0003.0010
this gives the dye of the formula
EMI0003.0011
which polyacrylonitrile fibers: also dyes in level red tones with excellent fastness properties.
Other valuable dyes which, according to the approach, are used to replace the diazonium salt of 1-amino-2-chloro-4-nitrobenzene with the diazonium salt of 4-nitro-4'-amino-3'-methoxy-1,1'-azobenzene, as follows if the orange disazo dye of the formula Gabe can be prepared in Example 1 is obtained, they are described in the table below.
They correspond to the formula

The azo compounds used to produce the dyestuff in Examples 16 and 21 are obtained by reacting N-phenyl # -N'-hydroxyethylpiperazine or N-phenyl N'-methylpiperazine with an ethereal chloramine solution.
Dyeing instructions: 20 parts of the dye obtained in Example 1 are mixed with 801 parts of dextrin in a ball mill for 48 hours.
Then 1 part of the preparation obtained in this way is made into a paste with 1 part of 40% acetic acid, 400 parts of 60 parts of distilled water are poured over the pulp, while shaking continuously, and the mixture is briefly boiled. 7000 parts of distilled water and 2 parts of glacial acetic acid are added and, at 60, 100 parts of polyacrylonitrile fibers are added to the dyebath. The material was pretreated for 15 minutes at 60 in a bath of 8,000 parts of water and 2 parts of glacial acetic acid. It is now heated within 301 minutes. to 100, cook for 1 hour and rinse.
A red dyeing of excellent lightfastness and very good wetfastness is obtained. The dyes of the following formulas can also be prepared by the process according to the invention:
