Plastic container for dispensing a sterile solution
The subject of the present invention is a plastic container for dispensing a sterile solution with contamination-tight outflow means on at least one side of the container.
Various attempts have been made to manufacture a plastic parenteral container with a contamination-tight closure. Most of these attempts related to a rubber stopper that was pressed tightly in the discharge opening through a metal ring around the discharge opening so that it was not contaminated, or to a plastic design for the discharge opening and the closure. Although these closures were contamination-proof, they had several disadvantages. Firstly, it was difficult and uneconomical to assemble, secondly, it was difficult to dismantle without endangering the sterile discharge opening and, thirdly, the immediate vicinity of the discharge opening was dirty, despite the sterile discharge opening, and represents a risk of contamination for the discharge opening and the contents of the container.
The purpose of the present invention is a closure device for plastic containers that is contamination-tight and easy to assemble and dismantle, and which also ensures a sterile zone around the outflow opening.
The plastic container according to the invention with contamination-proof outflow means on at least one side of the container is characterized by a protective cover over the outflow means in the form of a thin tearable film, which is tightly welded to the wall of the container in an area which includes the outflow means and which is provided with tear means is, with the aid of which the film can be torn open in an area comprising the outflow means.
The drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a plan view of an embodiment of the new contamination-tight closure,
FIG. 2 shows a section along the line 2-2 according to FIG. 1 with details of the outflow opening and the closure, and FIG
Fig. 3 is a plan view according to Fig. 1 with a representation of the method for opening the sterile zone around the outflow opening.
1 shows a plastic container 10 with suspension means 11, an outflow opening 12 and a contamination-proof protective cover for the outflow openings 13. It can be seen from FIGS a weld seam 15 is welded along its periphery. The outflow opening 12 lies within the periphery of this weld seam. A piece of a relatively thick film 16 is welded to the tearable film 14, this weld seam 17 lying within the area delimited by the weld seam 15. As FIG. 2 shows, the weld seam 17 lies at a certain distance within the weld seam 15 and forms a tab 18. The tab 18 (FIG. 3) is designed as a handle to expose the outflow opening and the sterile zone around it.
In order to facilitate the removal or tearing of the tearable film 14, the weld seam 17 can be designed as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. If necessary, additional outflow openings can be placed in the sterile zone. For example, a second outflow opening can be enclosed with a resealable stopper for the administration of additional medical treatments.
In one possible embodiment, the container 10 of the present invention is made from US polyvinyl chloride resin. The tearable film 14 consists of a relatively thin polyvinyl chloride resin film approximately 0.15 mm thick and the relatively thick portion 16 consists of a approximately 0.38 mm thick polyvinyl chloride resin film. The tab 18 can be roughened or otherwise processed to ensure a secure grip (see FIG. 3).
The possible use of polyvinyl chloride resin for all components results from the fact that components made of this material can be welded relatively easily.
The new contamination-proof protective cover can be applied to the container immediately after it has been filled with a solution. In a fully automated production facility, where the solution container is manufactured, filled and sterilized at the same time, it may be desirable that the contamination-proof protective cover is attached beforehand to a plastic film, which afterwards forms one side of the container. In this case, the contamination-proof protective cover and the zone protected by it can be sterilized separately by means of gas, or together with the container and its contents, by any conventional sterilization method.
According to the illustrated embodiment according to the drawing, the sterile zone comprises only the area immediately adjacent to the outflow opening, although it may be desirable under certain circumstances to cover an entire side of the container more or less completely with the contamination-proof protective cover. For example, the application equipment for a parenteral solution can be accommodated within this new contamination-impermeable protective cover. This embodiment is particularly suitable for military purposes, where only a single, compact, sterile unit is required for parenteral purposes. In this case, the sterile zone is made much larger than if separate application equipment is used.
This application equipment for parenteral solutions is a special embodiment of the outflow opening and is included in the term outflow opening used in this description.
The tearable film 14 can be printed with instructions for use or with information about the Be container contents, etc., whereby the need to print such information directly on a container wall is eliminated. This has the advantage that the penetration of pressure medium components through the wall of the container into the parenteral solution is avoided.
Instead of the polyvinyl chloride resins mentioned, other equivalent types of plastic can also be used, such as polyolefin resins, polyhalocarbon resins and the like.
Furthermore, according to the example shown, the contamination-proof protective cover can be welded onto the parenteral solution container, which is understood to mean dielectric welding, ultrasonic welding, gluing or corresponding means.
