Fig. 2 eine Variante der Anlage nach Fig. 1.

Method and device for the continuous determination of the bulk density of flowable, in particular powdery or granular material
The invention relates to a method and a device for continuously determining the bulk density of flowable, in particular powdery or granular material.
With many automatically and continuously running manufacturing, mixing, drying and filling processes in industry, it is necessary to continuously determine the bulk weight or the volume of a target weight of flowable goods in order to be able to use the measurement results to control processes before or after the measuring point .
Up to now, balances have mainly been used for such purposes, which are switched into the current to be measured or a part of it. In the first case the continuity of the material flow is interrupted, in the second case at least it is reduced because a volume is always filled, then the inflow is shut off and the material is only drained off again after weighing. If the quantity to be tested is large, several scales must be used or a large measuring volume must be used, which solution often results in a measured value that is often too strongly integrated. If, on the other hand, you weigh only periodically branched samples from a partial flow in order to get by with only one balance, you have to accept that the result is not necessarily representative for the main flow.
All of these systems require slides, flaps or other failure-prone shut-off devices with possibly complicated and expensive mechanical drives.
In order to enable continuous operation, belt scales are often used, with an entire conveyor belt including the drive mechanism or just a free section of the belt being weighed. This system has the disadvantages that either additional kinematic forces act on the scale when it is being loaded or that it is very difficult to control the weighed volume in the case of free-flowing bulk goods. In the case of systems in which only a section of the belt is weighed, there is also an additional error which stems from the rigidity of the conveyor belt.
Attempts have also become known to measure the volume weight of flowable goods with the help of bleta and gamma rays. However, the measurement accuracy is mostly unsatisfactory because the geometry of the beam path does not remain constant enough. In addition, there is an aversion to the use of radioactive isotopes and X-ray systems in many companies.
The stated disadvantages are to be eliminated by the present invention. Its purpose is to create a method and a device that allows the bulk density of flowable material to be continuously determined using simple means.
The method according to the invention is characterized in that within a line which has a stationary inlet part and an outlet part, between which parts an axially movable measuring tube is arranged, a material flow filling the entire pipe cross-section is maintained, which is throttled at the outlet part, and that one measures the resulting force exerted on the measuring tube by the material flowing through and depending on the bulk weight.
The device according to the invention is characterized by an inlet pipe connected to a storage funnel, an axially movable measuring tube connected to the inlet pipe and connected to a device for measuring the force, and by an outlet which is either designed as a throttle or the end of which has throttle means.
The drawing shows a schematic representation of two exemplary embodiments of the device according to the invention. The method according to the invention is explained on the basis of these, for example. Show it:
Fig. 1 is a side view of a system for automatically filling a certain amount of powdery or granular material in packages and
FIG. 2 shows a variant of the system according to FIG. 1.
A vertical inlet pipe 2 is attached to a silo 1 with a funnel-shaped outlet. This is followed by an axially movable measuring tube 4, which is supported on a balance 3 via an arm 4a, so that forces acting on the measuring tube in the axial direction influence the balance 3. A stationary outlet part 5 in the form of a tube, which opens into a metering system 6 that operates volumetrically, for example, adjoins the measuring tube. A throttle point 12 is arranged at the lower end of the tube 5. However, this can also be formed by the material accumulated in the dosing system 6. The outlet part 5 could taper upwards instead of tubular, for. B. be designed as a closed cone, so that it partially protrudes into the measuring tube 4 from below. The throttling effect can then be influenced by axial displacement of the part 5.
From the metering system 6, which can work on any principle known per se, z. B. packets 9 passing through on a conveyor system are filled with goods of constant target weight.
The balance 3 is advantageously designed as a compensation balance under certain circumstances.
Instead of a balance, other suitable measuring devices, e.g. B. electrical pressure cells, strain gauges and the like can be used.
Theoretical considerations and practical tests have shown that in the case of material passing continuously through the tubes 2, 4, 5, provided that it flows uniformly between the beginning and end of the measuring tube 4 and fills the entire tube cross-section, the force acting on the balance 3 is essentially the same as that The product of the bulk weight of the material and the volume of the measuring tube 4 is.
The value measured by the scale 3 can, for. B. can be used to control a production plant 7 in front of the silo 1. The path of the information A is shown in dashed lines in FIG.
But you can also by means of the value measured by the balance 3 via path B an actuator 8, z. B. control the dosing system in such a way that the packages 9 are filled with a constant target weight. This can e.g. B. can also be done by corresponding effects on the throttle point 12, whereby the required change in the temporal flow rate is achieved. For most systems, a non-linear intermediate member 10 is also necessary, which prescribes the change in volume required for the correct correction for a determined change in bulk weight. This arrangement can therefore be used well for the regulation of volumetric dosing systems. However, it has the disadvantage that non-linearities of the balance must be taken into account when designing the intermediate member 10.
In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 2, this disadvantage does not occur. Its structure basically corresponds to that according to FIG. 1. The difference is that the inlet pipe 2 engages telescopically in the measuring pipe 4. In addition, its lower part is connected to the actuator 8 via a linkage 2a and is axially adjustable from this. A bellows 11 connects the rigid part with the movable part of the inlet pipe 2. In this embodiment it is possible to adjust the deviation from the nominal value measured by the balance 3, which is transmitted to the actuator 8 via path B, by a corresponding change in the measuring volume of the measuring pipe 4 to compensate for by axially adjusting the tube 2.
For this shift, the same drive mechanism is advantageously used in a packaging system as for the volume adjustment of the dosing system, with only the transmission ratio of the adjustment strokes, e.g. B. by changing lever arm ratios must be adjusted.
In both embodiments, it may be necessary that additional elements must be built into the actuating and control circuits, for. B. to delay the signal or to dampen the same.
A loss of material at the transitions to and from the section 4 can be avoided by using elastic collars, bellows or funnels and the like.
The measurement volume, d. H. the size of the volume of the section 4 must be selected according to the circumstances. In the case of filling devices in packaging systems, it is advantageously chosen to be larger than the package volume in order to obtain a reliable mean value for the regulation. The volume can be increased significantly if the section 4 is bulged.
