so leitet es sich bei spielsweise ab von Hydroxybenzol, von einem Alkyl-, Aryl-, Alkoxy-, Aryloxy-, Halogen- oder tert. Amino- hydroxybenzol oder von einem Hydroxynaphthalin;
also beispielsweise von 2-, 3- oder 4-Methyl- oder -Äthyl-l-hydroxybenzol oder deren technischen Ge mischen von 2,4-Dimethyl-, 4-tert. Butyl- oder 4-iso- Octyl-l-hydroxybenzol, von 2-, 3- oder 4-Chlor-l- hydroxybenzol oder von 2-;

Process for the preparation of sparingly water-soluble disazo dyes It has been found that new, valuable, sparingly water-soluble disazo dyes of the formula I,
EMI0001.0007
in which A and D each have a radical from the benzene series and B an optionally substituted amino group, an alkoxy group containing at least 4 carbon atoms, a cycloalkoxy group,
an aralkoxy group or an optionally ring-substituted aryloxy group is obtained when the diazonium compound of an aminoazo dye of the formula 1I, H, NAN = ND (II) in which A and D have the meaning given under formula I, with a 2-hydroxynaphthalene compound the formula III couples,
EMI0001.0025
in which X denotes the carboxyl group or preferably hydrogen, and B has the meaning given under formula 1 ,
and choosing the components so that the dye does not have any water-dissociating, water-solubilizing groups.
A and D can be substituted within the scope of the definition, for example by hydrocarbon groups such as methyl, ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, butyl or amyl groups, by hydroxyl groups, by ether groups such as methoxy, ethoxy or phenoxy groups, by acylamino groups, such as acetylamino, chloroacetylamino, / 3 - chloropropionylamino,
Benzoylamino, chlorobenzoylamino, methylsulfonylamino, chloromethylsulfonylamino, chlorotriazinylamino or chloropyrimidylamino groups, by nitro, trifluoromethyl or cyano groups, by halogens such as fluorine, chlorine or bromine, by keto groups, ester groups such as carbomethoxy -, carboisopropoxy,
Carbobutoxy, carbocyclohexyloxy, carbobenzyloxy or carbophenyloxy groups, through lower alkylsulfonyl groups, such as methylsulfonyl or ethylsulfonyl groups, through unsubstituted or N-substituted sulfonic acid amide groups, such as sulfonic acid amide, sulfonic acid methyl,
-äthylamid-, -dimethylamid-, -diäthylamid-, -dibutylamid-, -cyclohexylamid-, -N-methyl-N-phenylamide-, -N-ethyl-N-phenylamide-, -piperidid- or -morpholide groups.
Dyes in which A is 1,4-phenylene and D is phenyl are preferred because of their good drawability and their excellent light and sublimation fastness.
If B denotes an optionally substituted amino group, this can be used as nitrogen substituents, for example, alkyl groups such as methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, isopropyl, normal, secondary or tertiary butyl, amyl, octyl or decyl groups, substituted alkyl groups, such as benzyl, B-hydroxyethyl,
β-hydroxypropyl, cyanoethyl, β-methoxyethyl, β-ethoxyethyl, γ-methoxypropyl, γ-ethoxypropyl, γ-phenoxypropyl groups, aryl groups such as phenyl, alkylphenyl, alkoxyphenyl, halophenyl groups, or cycloalkyl groups such as the cyclohexyl group.
The y-methoxypropyl group is a preferred N-substituent of the -SO2 - B group because it has a favorable effect on the drawability of the new dyes. B is thus derived in this case from ammonia or from a primary or secondary organic amine, it being possible for the N-substituents in the latter case to be identical or different and be linked to form heterocycles.
If B is an alkoxy, aralkoxy or cycloalkoxy group having at least 4 carbon atoms, it is derived, for example, from n-, sec-, iso- or tert. Butanol or from an amyl, hexyl or octyl alcohol, from benzyl alcohol or from cyclohexanol. If B is an optionally ring-substituted aryloxy group,
so it is derived, for example, from hydroxybenzene, from an alkyl, aryl, alkoxy, aryloxy, halogen or tert. Amino-hydroxybenzene or a hydroxynaphthalene;
So for example of 2-, 3- or 4-methyl- or ethyl-l-hydroxybenzene or their technical mixtures of 2,4-dimethyl, 4-tert. Butyl- or 4-iso-octyl-1-hydroxybenzene, of 2-, 3- or 4-chloro-1-hydroxybenzene or of 2-;
3- or 4-methoxy- or ethoxy-1-hydroxybenzene, also of 2-, 3- or 4-dimethylamino or diethylamino-1-hydroxybenzene, of 2- or 4-carbomethoxy-, -carbethoxy- or -Carbobutoxy-1-hydroxybenzene, of 4-hydroxydiphenyl ether or of 1- or 2-hydroxynaphthalin.
Disazo dyes of the formula I with the S02B group in the 6- or 7-position of the naphtha are particularly easily accessible, extremely lightfast and pure.
Disazo dyes of the formula I in which B denotes an optionally ring-substituted aryloxy group of the benzene series are preferred because of their high drawability.
Diazo components of the formula II which can be used according to the invention belong primarily to the 4-aminoazobenzene series but also to the 3-aminoazobenzene series, it being possible for the benzene nuclei to be substituted within the scope of the definition, for example by those mentioned above in the explanation of A and D Substituents.
Suitable diazo components are, for example, 4-aminoazobenzene, 3-methyl- or ethyl-4-aminobenzene, 4'-hydroxy, 3- or -4-aminoazobenzene, 4'-methoxy or ethoxy, -3- or - 4-amino-benzene, 2 ', 3'- or 4'-chloro-4-aminoazobenzene, 2'-, 3'- or 4'-nitro-4-aminoazobenzene, 2', 5'- or 3 ', 4 '-Dichloro-4-aninoazobenzene, 2', 6'-dichloro-4'-nitro-4-aminoazobenzene,
4'-methylsulfonyl- or -ethylsulfonyl-4-amino-azobenzene, 2'-nitro-4'-methylsulfonyl-4-aminoazobenzene, 4-aminoazobenzene-4'-sulfonic acid amide, 4-aminoazobenzene-4'-sulfonic acid-dimethylamide, 4 -Aminoazobenzene-4'-sulfonic acid-N, N-di-ss- hydroxyethylamide, 4-amino-2'-nitro-azobenzene-4'-sulfonic acid diethylamide or -phenylamide.
The preferred diazo component is 4-aminoazobenzene.
2-Hydroxynaphthalenesulfonic acid amides and esters of the formula III to be coupled with this derive, for example, from 2-hydroxynaphthalene-4-, -5-, -6-, -7- or -8-sulfonic acid or 2-hydroxynaphthalene-1-carboxylic acid -6-sulfonic acid, in particular from 2-hydroxynaphthalene-6- and -7-sulfonic acid.
The amides are obtained, for example, by reacting suitable 2-acyloxynaphthalenesulfonic acids, in particular 2-p-toluenesulfonyloxy-naphthaasulfomic acids, with phosphorus oxychloride. appropriate sulfonic acid chlorides, condensation of the same with the desired amine to correspond to the amide and saponification of the acyloxy group.
The esters are prepared, for example, by converting the 2-benzyloxynaphthalenesulfonic acids into their acid halide, condensation of the latter with the desired hydroxyl compound and hydrogenolytic cleavage of the benzyloxy group to form the hydroxyl group, for example with palladium on carbon in a suitable organic solvent such as ethanol , dar.
The coupling is preferably carried out in an aqueous-alkaline solution. If desired, a suitable diazonium compound can also be coupled with a mixture of two or more coupling components which can be used according to the invention or a mixture of suitable diazo components with a coupling component which can be used according to the invention or with several of them simultaneously.
The dyes that can be prepared according to the invention are suitable for dyeing organic, hydrophobic, synthetic textile fibers from aqueous dispersion, for example for dyeing cellulose di-triacetate, but especially for dyeing high-molecular esters of aromatic polycarboxylic acids with polyhydric alcohols, for example glycol terephthalates like Terylene from Imperial Chemical Industries, London,
or such as Dacron from EJ Du Pont de Nemours & Co., Wilmington, Delaware (USA), from Tergal der Rhodiaceta, Lyon, Diolen from Glanzstoff AG, Wuppertal, Germany, or from Trevira from Farbwerke Hoechst, Frankfurt a / M.
However, the dyes can also be used to dye synthetic polyamide fibers, such as nylon from Du Pont de Nemours, or Perlon from Bayer paint factories in Leverkusen, Germany.
With dyes which can be produced according to the invention, lightfast dyeings can often also be produced on polyacrylonitrile fibers, such as, for example, Orion from E. J. Du Pont de Nemours.
The dyeing of polyester fibers with aqueous dispersions of dyes obtainable according to the invention is preferably carried out at temperatures of over 100 Celsius under pressure. Very good dyeings are also obtained if polyester fibers are impregnated with concentrated, aqueous dispersions of dyes which can be prepared according to the invention, the squeezed fabric is dried and then fixed at temperatures of 180-250.degree. The color can also occur at the boiling point of water in the presence of color carriers such as phenylphenol,
Polychlorobenzene compounds or similar auxiliaries are carried out.
In individual cases, the drawability of the dyes can be further improved by mixing two or more disazo dyes according to the invention.
Depending on the composition and mixture of the dyes, orange, scarlet to ruby red, very good wet, sublimation and lightfast, and often very pure dyeings can be produced on polyester fibers.
In the examples below, parts mean parts by weight, unless expressly stated otherwise. The temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Parts by weight have the same relationship to parts by volume as g to cm3. Example 1 A suspension of 19.7 parts of 4-aminoazobenzene in 125 parts of water and 25 parts of concentrated hydrochloric acid is treated at 12 with 6.9 parts of sodium nitrite in 120 parts of water as usual within 2 hours diazotized.
The clarified diazonium salt solution is allowed to flow into a solution of 28.1 parts of 2-hydroxynaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid-N-methyl-N-hydroxyethylamide in 600 parts of water and 8 parts of sodium hydroxide. Sodium hydroxide is introduced into the reaction mass with cooling until its pH value is 10-10.5. After the coupling has ended, the red dye is suction filtered, washed with water and dried at 60 in a vacuum.
The coupling product is a red powder, the composition of which has the formula
EMI0003.0037
corresponds. Milled with an alkali salt of dodecylbenzenesulfonate, the dyestuff obtained in this way dyes from aqueous dispersion, largely exhausting the dyebath, fibers made of polyglycol terephthalate such as Dacron (from EJ Du Pont de Nemours, USA), optionally in the presence of swelling agents such as o-phenylphenol , in scarlet shades.
The dyeings have very good fastness to light and sublimation.
In the above example, instead of 28.1 parts of 2-hydroxynaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid-N-methyl-N-β-hydroxyäthy4amid, the 2-hydroxynaphthalene-sulfonic acid amides listed in Table I are used and they are combined under under the conditions given in the preceding example with the diazonium salt of 4-aminoazobenzene, dyes are obtained which produce dyeings of equally good properties on polyester fibers.

The 1-carboxy-2-hydroxynaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid (2'-methylphenyl) ester used for coupling is obtained, for example, by reacting 1-carboxy-2-benzyloxynaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid with phosphorus oxychloride to form the corresponding sulfonic acid chloride, condensation the same with 2-methyl-1-hydroxybenzene and saponification of the benzyl radical.
If, in the above example, instead of 35.8 parts of 1-carboxy-2-hydroxynaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid (2 '- methylphenyl) ester, a corresponding amount of the coupling components given in Table VI below is used and they are combined under the conditions described in the example with the diazonium salt of 4-aminoazobenzene, so he holds dyes that give Färun conditions on polyester fibers of equally good properties.

12 parts of the sodium salt of o-phenylphenol and 12 parts of diammonium phosphate are added to this dispersion, and 100 parts of fabric made from polyterephthalic acid glycol ester are dyed at 90-95 hours for 1 hour. The dye is rinsed and washed thoroughly with dilute sodium hydroxide solution and a dispersant.
This gives a light-, wash- and sublimation-fast scarlet coloration.
The other dyes described produce similarly good colorations.
b) 2 parts of the dye of the formula in Table VI, No. 6, are finely suspended in 4000 parts of water containing 2 parts of condensation product of fatty alcohol and 25 equivalents of ethylene oxide. The pH of the dyebath is adjusted to 6.5 using acetic acid.
100 parts of polyglycol terephthalate fabric are then added at 40, the bath is heated to 120 in the autoclave in the course of 15 minutes and is kept at this temperature for 3/4 hours. The dye is rinsed with water and soaped. This gives a lightfast and sublimation-fast, bluish red coloration.
The other dyes described give similarly good colorations.
c) Polyglycol terephthalate fabric such as Dacron from EJ Du Pont is impregnated on a padder at 40 with a liquor of the following composition: 20 parts of dye of the formula in Example 1, finely dispersed in 7.5 parts of sodium alginate, 20 parts of triethanolamine, 20 parts of a fatty alcohol polyethylene oxide - Condensation product and 900 parts of water.
The fabric squeezed to 100 % is dried at 100 and then fixed at a temperature of 210 for 30 seconds. The dyed goods are rinsed with water, soaped and dried. Under these conditions, a scarlet coloration that is fast to washing, rubbing, light and sublimation is obtained.
The dyes described in the other examples result in dyeings of equal quality by this process.
