(fig. VII, position de la soupape 2 libérée).
Self-closing cap for soft wall tubes
containing pasty products
The object of the invention is a self-closing cap for flexible-walled tubes containing pasty products, for example, for tubes of toothpaste, tubes of cream, of puree, etc.
Existing caps must be unscrewed from their tube each time they are used. The aim of the invention is to avoid this drawback.
To this end, the self-closing cap according to the invention is characterized by a cap intended to be fixed on the tube, and by a movable valve resiliently retained on the free end of the cap, the whole arranged so that by the pressure on the tube the product lifts the valve and drains for use.
The drawing represents, by way of example, different embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. I is a sectional view of the first embodiment.
Figs. II to IV are sectional views of three other embodiments.
Fig. V is an elevational view of the second embodiment.
Fig. VI is an exploded partial sectional view showing in detail the blocking of FIGS. II and III.
Fig. VII is a sectional view along the line
VII-VII of fig. VI.
Fig. VIII is an exploded partial sectional view of FIG. I which presents the blockage, on a larger scale, and
fig. IX is a sectional view without the part 4 along the line IX-IX of FIG. VIII.
The first embodiment according to FIG. I has a conical cap on the outside and cylindrical on the inside, one end of which comprises an internal thread 12 enabling it to be screwed onto a tube; the other end of the cap 1 has a conical seat 11 on which rests a valve 2 provided with a rod 3 which freely passes through a guide sleeve 6 (fig. VIII) and comprising a cylindrical element 4 sliding in the sleeve 6 The cylindrical bush 6 is provided with radial ribs 8 and the upper ends of these are pressed rigidly on the cylindrical part and against the shoulder 10 of the cap 1. At its lower part, the guide bush 6 (fig. . IX) is provided with one or more notches 7 to receive the pins 5 (fig. VIII) of the cylindrical element 4 (unblocked position of the valve 2).
If pressure is exerted on the tube, the product lifts the valve 2 from its seat 11 and is discharged. By releasing the pressure on the tube, the valve 2 returns to the conical seat 11 by the effect of the spring 9 and closes hermetically. The locking of the valve 2 on the conical seat 11 is done by a slight rotation of the latter by inserting a thin object (for example a coin) in the slot on the outside of the valve 2: thus the element cylindrical 4 is blocked in its axial movement by the support of the pins 5 on the edge of the cylindrical sleeve 6 (position Sa of the dotted pins, fig. VIII and IX).
Fig. It has a second embodiment with the valve 2 in its open position.
It is also composed by a conical cap on the outside and cylindrical on the inside and a valve 2 with its locking device. The operation of this variant is the same as that of the first embodiment. The washer 13 is provided with locking lugs outwardly and rigidly fixed to the lower part of the valve 2. Figs. VI and VII present the blockage
in more detail. The valve 2, the rod 3 and the cylindrical element 4 (fig. II) are integral; on the other hand, the rod 3 is guided by the washer 15 with
braces, which rest rigidly
against the inner shoulder 10 of the cylinder cap
drique 1. The spring 9 has as support, on the one hand, the washer 15 and, on the other hand, the cylindrical element 4.
The shoulder 10 is provided with notches 14 to receive the locking pins of the washer 13
(fig. VII, position of valve 2 released). The locking of the valve 2 on the conical seat 11 is effected by a slight rotation of the latter as explained for the previous embodiment.
Fig. III has a third embodiment also composed of a conical cap on the outside and cylindrical on the inside and a valve 2 with its locking device. The washer 13 with lugs is fixed in the center rigidly to the rod 3 so that the valve 2, the rod 3 and the cross members 17 are integral. The outer faces of the arms of this spider 17 are movably adjusted to the inner cylindrical part of the cap 1 and are intended to guide the assembly made up of the valve 2, the rod 3 and the washers 13 in its axial movement. . The spring 9 is supported in its lower part on the washer 16 supported freely by the cross-pieces 17, and in its upper part on the shoulder 10 inside the cap 1.
The locking device by the lugs of the washer 13 in the notches 14 of the shoulder 10 is the same as for the second embodiment (FIG. II). The cylindrical body 22, driven into the lower part of the cap 1, is provided with an internal conical screw thread, making it possible to fix the self-closing cap on tubes with threaded mouthpieces of different diameters.
Fig. IV is the fourth embodiment of automatic closing. The valve 2 has at its lower part a hole making it possible to receive one end of the tension spring 20, the other end of said spring is fixed in the middle of the cross member 21.
This crosspiece is pressed against the inner shoulder of the cylindrical cap 1. To evacuate the product, pressure must be exerted on the tube as described in the first embodiment. The locking of the valve 2 is ensured by the shoulder 18 of the locking ring 19 which screws onto the upper part of the cap 1 and which is provided with a screw thread thus preventing the valve 2 from rising from the seat 1 1 of cap 1.
