Liquid flow regulator for automatic filling of the storage container of coffee machines The invention relates to a liquid flow regulator for automatic filling of the storage container of a coffee machine or a similar beverage maker with an expediently preselectable amount of liquid, in which the in the storage container or in one with the same communicate The rising liquid via built-in electrodes closes a circuit that controls the flow of liquid into the storage container.
The electrically controlled inlet valve is z. B. installed in a coming from a hot water boiler coming hot water pipe.
In coffee machines with a brewing device, for example, the ground coffee powder is brewed with hot water on a sieve and filtered. The hot water is z. B. generated in a special hot water boiler, which can be under a steam pressure of about 0.5 to 1 atm, whereupon it is fed to the brewing filter via a swing arm carrying the filter. By means of the swivel arm, the brewing filter can be swiveled over the upper opening of one or more coffee storage containers. After opening a z.
B. in the swivel arm seated inlet valve, the hot water flows from the boiler into the brewing filter, from which the filtered coffee brew flows into the storage container and the latter gradually fills up.
When filling the storage container, care must be taken to determine how high the coffee stock has already risen in the container so that the hot water supply from the boiler can be shut off in good time. The filling can be read off from a liquid level glass attached to the storage container. In the past it was generally necessary to close the inlet valve by hand as soon as the desired amount of coffee was made or the storage container was full. If the correct time for closing was missed due to inattentive operation, it could easily happen that the coffee brew was too thin or that the storage container overflowed.
There are therefore already known control devices in which the shutdown of the hot water supply depending on the liquid was in the container to be filled, z. B. in the pre storage container of a coffee machine, automatically brought about, the time of shutdown, d. H. the respective desired degree of filling of the container can be set in advance as desired. The previous control devices of this type work using switching tubes or photocells and are relatively complicated and expensive.
They also require a considerable amount of space and are practically not sufficiently reliable in operation, among other things because of the sensitivity of the switching tubes in the mostly steamy atmosphere of such coffee machines or the photocells against contamination of the glass liquid standpipe. The invention aims to eliminate these shortcomings of the known liquid flow regulator with simple means.
The flow regulator according to the invention also works with electrodes arranged in the container or in the liquid stand glass and is characterized by two independent circuits, of which the control circuit containing the control electrodes controls the main circuit containing the electrically operated liquid inlet valve. For this purpose, preferably in the main circuit of the control device containing a solenoid valve for the liquid inlet is a manually switchable switch with a lever is arranged, which in the open position of the solenoid valve corresponding closed position of the switch against the action of a feedback force, z.
B. a spring force, is locked by the locking armature of a Zugma gneten, which is in an independent of the main circuit, with a lower current or voltage operating control circuit, which is optionally built by one of several, at mutual distances one above the other in the liquid keitsbehält or liquid standpipe Control electrodes are closed after a corresponding increase in the liquid and its current excites the pull magnet, whose locking armature releases the switching lever mentioned,
which returns to its rest position under the action of the return force and brings about or permits the switch to its open position and thus the closure of the solenoid valve.
Such a control device can be carried out with little expenditure on switching and control devices and has a very small space requirement. As a switch, a microswitch can be used, the lever or similar switching organ can be brought into the closed position by means of a switch-on push button, in which he z. B. is held by a protruding nose of the locking armature of the pull magnet.
The control device according to the invention also has the advantage that it can be connected to the mains voltage without a special upstream connection of a transformer by appropriately arranging and dimensioning its switching and control elements. The current and voltage of the control circuit can easily be kept so low who the that, for. B. when cleaning the liquid level glass containing the electrodes no danger to the operator occurs.
For this purpose, it is sufficient to arrange a protective resistor in series with the pull magnet in the control circuit, which is dimensioned and coordinated with the pull magnet so that the voltage tapped in the case of cleaning the stand glass is less than 46 V and in the control circuit despite this the direct connection of the device to the power grid only a current of maximum 5 mA flows.
Switching tubes are not required in the control device according to the invention. The microswitch, which can be encapsulated in a housing, works just as reliably as the pull magnet and the solenoid valve, so that the entire control device works more safely and trouble-free than the previously known electrical control systems.
In the drawing, the invention is illustrated schematically in one exemplary embodiment, namely the single figure of the drawing shows in longitudinal section the liquid level glass of a storage container of a coffee machine and the switching and control system of the liquid volume regulator.
The electrical control device contains two independent circuits connected to the mains terminals 1, 2, namely a main circuit 3 and a control circuit 4.
In the main circuit 3 is an electrically controllable inlet valve, preferably a solenoid valve 5, which z. B. is installed in a hot water pipe coming from a hot water boiler, which leads to a brewing vessel or brewing filter, from which the coffee stock drains into a coffee storage container. The latter parts are just as little shown in the drawing as the rest of the coffee machine, since they are known in various forms of implementation. Furthermore, there is an electrical switch in the main circuit 3, specifically preferably a microswitch 6.
The switch pin 7 of the microswitch 6 can be actuated via a spring-loaded switch lever 9 mounted or clamped at point 8 by means of a switch-on push button 10, the shaft 11 of which is guided, for example, through a housing wall 12.
Opposite the free end of the shift lever 9 is a in the control circuit 4 lying train magnet 13, whose z. B. at point 14 tiltable Gela Gerter locking anchor 15 by means of a nose 16 over the end of the switch lever 9 engages when the pull magnet 13 is not energized, and when the switch lever 9 is in its closed position of the microswitch 6 corresponding working position.
A liquid level glass 17 communicates with the coffee storage container (not shown in the drawing), which is held at the bottom in a nozzle 18 and at the top in a head part 19 with a corresponding seal ''. The head part 19, which can be removed for the purpose of cleaning the liquid level glass 17 after loosening a knurled screw 20, carries an electrically insulated contact pin 21 fixed in it which, in the operating position of the head part 19, conductively connects two contact pieces 22, 23 lying in the control circuit 4 .
If the head part 19 is removed to make the interior of the liquid level glass 17 accessible, the contact pin 21 is also pulled out of its position between the contact pieces 22, 23, whereby the control circuit 4 is automatically interrupted, which provides further reliable protection for the Represents operating personnel against impermissible electrical contact.
Two electrodes 24a, 25a or 24b, 25b or 24c, 25c or are located in the liquid stand glass 17 at certain heights corresponding to the liquid quantities to be set 24d, 25d melted in pairs. The electrodes 24a, 25a, etc. of each pair of electrodes have a small distance from one another, but sufficient for good mutual insulation. Instead of one another, they can of course also be arranged at an angle next to one another in the stand glass 17. One of the electrodes of each pair of electrodes, e.g. B. the electrodes 24a, 24b, 24c and 24d, are all directly connected to the control current line 4 coming from the mains terminal 1.
In contrast, the other electrodes of the electrode pairs, in the present case the electrodes 25a, 25b, 25c and 25d, are individually connected to intermediate lines 4a, 4b, 4c and 4d, respectively. which lead to separate contact pieces 26a, 26b, 26c and 26d of a tap changer, the rotatable contact arm 27 of which is reconnected to the control circuit line 4 via its pivot point 28. Instead of a step switch of the type shown schematically, of course, z. B. a push button switch can be arranged.
Furthermore, there is a fuse 29 and a protective resistor 30 in the control circuit 4, which is dimensioned and coordinated with the resistance of the train magnet 13 so that only a current of at most 5 mA can flow in the control circuit 4 and that in the event of cleaning of the liquid level glass 17 tapped voltage is less than 46 V we.
The line part of the control circuit 4, which leads over the electrodes 24a, 25a etc. and the step switch 26a to d, 27, 28, can be bridged by a bypass line 31, into which a circuit breaker, conveniently a Push button switch 32 is built in. Finally, a control line 33 is also connected to the main circuit 3 on both sides of the solenoid valve 5, in which a control lamp 34 is located, which indicates whether the solenoid valve 5 is open or closed.
The mode of operation of the device described above is as follows: With the help of the step switch, the desired amount of liquid that is to flow into the storage container is set. In the present case, the contact arm 27 is set on the con tact piece 26b, which is connected by the inter mediate line 4b to the electrode 25b corresponding to a liquid volume of 3 liters. Then the push button 10 is actuated, the shaft 11 of which pushes the shift lever 9 from its rest position drawn in dashed lines into the fully extended working position 9.
The free end of the shift lever 9 passes under the protruding nose 16 of the locking armature 15 of the pull magnet 13 and is in this position Arre benefits. At the same time, the main circuit 3 is closed by the microswitch 6 and thereby the solenoid valve 5 is opened. Coffee broth can now flow into the storage container from the brewing filter.
As soon as the liquid level in the stand glass 17 has reached the electrode 25b corresponding to an amount of 3 liters, the liquid acts as a conductor between the electrodes 24b and 25b, so that the control circuit is closed. As a result, the locking armature 15 is attracted by the pulling magnet 13, and its nose 16 releases the spring-loaded switching lever 9 from its locking position. The microswitch 6 switches off and interrupts the main circuit 3, so that the solenoid valve 5 is closed and the further supply of liquid to the reservoir is interrupted.
If necessary, it can also be switched off manually. For this purpose, the push-button switch 32 must be depressed, which closes the control circuit 4 directly via the ambient line 31, even if there is no liquid in the reservoir or the liquid level set by the selector switch has not yet been reached. In this case, too, the locking armature 15 is attracted by the pull magnet 13, whereby the switching lever 9 ben freege, the microswitch 6 is opened and the solenoid valve 5 is closed. The same effect occurs when the head part 19 is removed from the liquid level glass 17 and the contact pin 21 is pulled out.
Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment described above and schematically illustrated in the drawing, but rather it encompasses all variants within the scope of the invention. Another suitable switch can be used instead of the microswitch. The lock of the switch in his. The closed position and the release of the same can also be carried out by other electrically operated means. Instead of electrode pairs, individual electrodes can optionally also be provided, the counter electrode being formed by the ground.
