Individual elevator-lowering device Individual elevator-lowering devices, more commonly known as spiders, generally offer little job security and are often the cause of serious fall accidents. In fact, the safety devices with which these devices are fitted are precarious, in particular with regard to the braking of the winch drum commonly carried out by mas- selottes with variable spacing, or more simply by a snap-fit.
The object of the invention is to provide an individual elevator-lowering device offering great operating safety both in the upward direction and in the other.
The individual elevator-lowering apparatus according to the invention comprises a drum on which is wound a cable from which the apparatus is suspended and at least one crank controlling, through the intermediary of a gear train, the rotation of said gear. tam bour. It is characterized by a first brake capable of blocking the rotation of said drum and by a second brake controlled by a lever allowing the apparatus to be lowered at a desired speed, the operation of said crank as well as that of said control lever disabling the device. 'action of said first brake.
The apparatus in one embodiment may have a safety brake which comes into action as soon as the rotational speed of the drum exceeds a predetermined value, for example as a result of the failure of one of said brakes or of deterioration of the drum. another part of the device.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the individual elevator-lowering apparatus according to the invention.
FIG. 1 is a view in longitudinal section showing the different braking devices.
Fig. 2 is an elevational view thereof from the side of the drum brake on said drum. Fig. 3 is also an elevational view, but from the side of the safety brake.
The apparatus shown comprises, in a casing in two parts 1 and 2 assembled by bolts 3, a grooved drum 4 mounted on a shaft 5 supported, at its ends, by the lateral sides of the two parts of the casing. One of the cheeks of this drum, on the main housing 1 side, is made integral with a toothed wheel 6 provided with an internal brake drum 7, in which are arranged brake shoes 8 articulated at 9 and controlled by a cam 10 determining their spacing.
The axis 9 and the cam 10 are fixed to the lateral side of the main casing 1. This drum brake is controlled by an external lever 11, pinned to the end of the cam 10. The operation of this lever 11 determines the length. 'spacing of the jaws 8 and the braking of the drum 4, the details being better visible in fig. 2.
The toothed wheel 6 of the drum 4 is controlled by a pinion 12 idle on an arc 13 fixed on the housing 1. The rotation of this pinion is itself determined by a gear 14, keyed on a motor shaft 15, arranged to the upper part of the casings 1 and 2 and carried, for this purpose, by ball bearings 16 housed in cups fixed to the two casings 1 and 2. The motor shaft 15 also passes through an assembly plate 17 fixed to the casing 1 by a spacer 28 and carrying the end of the axis 13 of the reduction pinion 12.
The two ends of the motor shaft 15, opening on either side of the casings 1 and 2, are seen from two rings 18, in each of these rings is provided a helical groove 19 which engages a finger 20 that carries each end of the axis 15. These two rings 18 are arranged in the housings in two crank holders 21 retained at the ends of the motor shaft 15 by pin washers 22.
On the side of the main casing 1, the motor shaft 15 is equipped with a disc brake 23, compressed between a flange 24 integral with the shaft 15 and the wall of said casing. This disc brake, intended to block the rotation of the motor shaft, is in particular held in the friction position, by the action of a spring 25, against a ring 26 integral with the shaft 15.
This spring, bearing on the other hand against a fixed plate 27, secured by spacers 28 to the plate 17, tends to return the axis 15 in the braking direction and determines the friction of the brake discs 23 which prevents che any rotation of said axis 15. In the crank holders 21 are engaged the cranks 29 with handles 30, intended to drive the rotation of the axis 15 and, consequently, that of the drum 4 on which the cable is wound. 31 of suspension of the apparatus, by means of the gear train 14, 13 and 6.
On the operating lever 11 of the drum brake 7 is centered at 32 a fork 33 arranged astride the axis 15 between two rings 34. This fork is characterized in that it has an unequal thickness which increases. towards its end op posed to its articulation. It follows that by operating the lever 11, the fork slides on the axis 15 and causes either its return which tends to make the disc brake 23 act, or its removal which tends to annihilate the effect of the brake. 23 on said motor axis 15.
On the cheek of the drum 4, on the casing-cover side 2 is fixed a ratchet wheel 35 against which is placed a cam 36 with ramps 37 against which rests a spring washer 38. A pawl 39 comprises a roller 40 which is constantly in contact with the profile of the cam 36 thanks to the effect of a return spring 41 which also makes it possible to prevent the engagement of the pawl in the notches of the ratchet wheel 35, this to low drum rotation speed 4.
On the other hand, a hand interlock 42 can determine, if the user so desires, the engagement of the pawl in the notches of the ratchet wheel and thereby block the rotation of the drum 4. In fact, the pawl 39 is articulated on a axis 43, carried by the housing 2, by means of a bil bearing the 44.
The cable 31 is exited in a tube 45 having, at its end, a case-hardened guide and inside, a return pulley 47. Finally, the base of the device is equipped with a seat 48 of ap-shaped. property.
The device operates as follows.Initially, constant brake on the motor axis 15, determined by compression of the disc braking device on which the spring 25 acts.
The upward movement, obtained by rotation of the drum 4 winding the cable 31, that is to say by driving the motor shaft 15 moved by the cranks 29, takes place in two stages. A first stage consists in unlocking the disc brake 23, operation performed automatically when the user first operates the right hand crank 29 which, thanks to the self-releasing rings 18 with helical ramps 19, axially drives the fingers 20 of the motor shaft which, by being thus driven back against the spring 25,
releases the disc brake 23 from the pressure exerted by said spring.
A second time, enabled by the self-release of the disc brake 23 where the user seated on the seat 48 can, using the cranks 29 control the rotation of the motor shaft 15 which, by the gear train intermediary 14, 12 and 6 drives the drum 4 and, consequently, determines the winding of the cable 31.
To stop, releasing the cranks 2.9 automatically causes the return of the spring 25 which compresses the disc brake 23 which again comes into action and stops the rotation of the motor shaft 15 and, consequently, that of the drum 4 .
During the upward movement, the user can also engage the safety brake to prevent any failure of the disc brake on the motor shaft. To this end, it suffices to operate the hand engagement 42 which recalls the pawl 39 against the ratchet wheel 35 and prevent any reversal of the drum 4.
The downward movement at a variable reduced speed is effected by maneuvering the lever 11, the user, by pulling said lever towards him, cancels the effect of the disc brake 23, the fork 33 pushes back the axis 15 into the direction opposite to the compression of said brake and against the spring 25. Simultaneously the lever by pivoting, causes the rotation of the cam 10 and the progressive separation of the jaws 8 of the drum brake 7 and braking of the drum 4 which unwinds the cable 31 from which the device is suspended, braking which depends on the speed at which the user wants the ash.
But, as soon as the drum accelerates suddenly as a result of the failure of one of the brakes, or in the event of damage to a component of the apparatus, the safety brake comes into action. The rapid rotation of the drum 4 drives that of the cam 36 of which it is integral, the bosses 37 of said cam cause impacts with the roller 40 of the pawl 39, which is no longer subjected to a sufficient return of the spring 41. engages in the notches of the ratchet wheel and stops the rotation of the drum 4.
