Une seconde came de contrôle 27 présentant une longue partie de rayon constant 28 et une très courte saillie 29, cette saillie 29 étant beaucoup plus courte que la saillie 18 de la came 16, agit sur un levier 30 à un seul bras pivotant autour d'un axe 31 solidaire du bâti de la machine. A l'extrémité libre du levier 30 est fixé d'un côté un bec 32 qui s'appuie norma lement .sur la partie 28 de la came 27 sous l'action d'un ressort 33 ;
Automatic turning lathe When using the automatic turning lathe, you may have to drill very small holes. The drill used is necessarily very delicate and breakage is frequent. To prevent a whole series of parts from having to be scrapped because the bit broke, it is useful to be able to check the. part machining operations whether the drill bit is broken or not.
A device for this control has already been proposed (FIG. 1). In this known device, a rotary control cam 1, having a long part 2 of constant radius and a short notch 3, acts on a lever 4 having three arms 5, 6 and 7 and pivoting about an axis 8 integral with the frame. of the machine. The end of the arm 5 of the lever 4 is provided with a beak 9 which normally rests on the part of constant radius 2 of the cam 1 under the action of a spring 10. The end of the arm 6 of the lever 4 is provided with a thin control plate 11.
The free end of arm 7 of lever 4 includes an adjustable screw 12.
When the nose 9 rests on the part 2 of the cam 1, the control plate 11 is at a certain distance from the drill to be tested 13, and the screw 12 is also at a certain distance from the spring blade 14 used to operate a switch 15.
When the nose 9 falls into the notch 3 of the cam 1, the control plate 11 rests on the diameter of the drill 13 at the most extreme point of its length. The screw 12 has then moved closer to the blade 14 of the switch 15, but does not touch it yet.
If the end of the drill 13 has broken, the nose 9 goes deeper into the notch 3 of the cam 1, and the screw 12 presses on the spring blade 14, which actuates the switch 15, which has the effect of stopping the machine. The problem thus seems to be solved, since the device described stops the machine if the drill has broken.
However, this device has a major flaw.
As said above, the drill is all the more delicate the smaller it is. When checking, the plate 11 is supported under the action of the spring 10, which must have a certain force to actuate the lever 4, on a delicate drill 13. It follows that the latter flexes and that the there is a risk of bending it, breaking it or damaging it.
This is due to the defect of the device described above, which can only be used without danger if the drill bit is strong enough, but in this case breakage control is less necessary.
The present invention aims to: remedy this drawback. Its object is an automatic lathe fitted with a feeler intended to check the possible breakage of a tool such as a drill or a tap,
this lathe being characterized in that said shun switch is arranged so as to establish electrical contact between the tool and itself, said shun contact being a switch arranged in the actuation circuit of a sensitive relay controlling walking around.
Figs. 2 to 4 of the drawing. appended represent, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention. Only what is necessary for understanding the invention has been shown.
Fig. 2 is an elevational view of this embodiment.
Fig. 3 is a top view of a detail, on an enlarged scale.
Fig. 4 is a diagram of the electrical connections.
A first control cam 16 having a long portion of constant radius 17 and a short projection 18 acts on a lever 19 having two arms 20 and 21 and pivoting about an axis 22 integral with the frame of the machine. The end of the arm 20 of the lever 19 is provided with a beak 23 which rests normally on the part of constant radius 17 of the cam 16 under the action of a spring 24.
The arm 21 of the lever 19 carries a thin and narrow steel blade 25 intended to constitute a very flexible feeler. This steel blade 25 is electrically isolated from the lever 19 by means of a plate 26 made of insulating material.
A second control cam 27 having a long portion of constant radius 28 and a very short protrusion 29, this protrusion 29 being much shorter than the protrusion 18 of the cam 16, acts on a lever 30 with a single arm pivoting around it. an axis 31 integral with the frame of the machine. At the free end of the lever 30 is fixed on one side a spout 32 which rests norma Lement .sur part 28 of the cam 27 under the action of a spring 33;
on the other side of the free end of the lever 30 is placed an adjustable screw 34 intended to act in due time on the leaf spring 35 actuating a switch 36 fixed to the frame of the machine. The two cams 16 and 27 are set on a common shaft. 41, which may be the camshaft of the lathe.
The probe 25 is electrically connected to one of the terminals of a very sensitive relay 37 (FIG. 4). While the machine is working, the excitation circuit of relay 37 is closed by switch 36; this circuit being closed, the relay 37 is energized, so that its contact 38 is also closed, which ensures the closing of the control circuit of the machine and therefore the operation of the latter.
At the time of the check, that is to say when the nose 23 reaches the top of the projection 18 of the cam 16, the end of the probe 25 rests very lightly on the end of the drill to be checked 39.
The contact of the probe 25 with the drill 39 doubly closes the excitation circuit of the relay 37. At this moment, the nose 32 of the lever 30 comes to the top of the projection 29 of the second control cam 27, so that the screw 34 acts on the leaf spring 35 which actuates the switch 36, which opens the contact 40.
However, the machine continues to operate, since the excitation circuit of relay 37 continues to be closed by contact of the probe 25 with the drill 39. The cams 16 and 27 continue to rotate in the direction of da, arrow (fig. 2 ), the nose 32 leaves the projection 29 of the cam 27 and falls back on the part of constant radius 28, so that the contact 40 closes before the feeler 25 leaves the drill 39.
The continuity of the operation of the machine is therefore ensured. On the contrary, if the tip of the drill 39 has broken, the contact between the probe 25 and the drill 39 is no longer established, and when the contact 40 opens, the relay 37 ceases to be energized. and its contact 38 opens: the control circuit of the machine is interrupted and the latter stops, due to the breakage of the drill.
Preferably, the sensitive relay 37 is a delayed operation relay, which makes it possible to control rotating drills of any type, in particular.
drills of non-circular section. In the latter case, in fact, the contact between the probe 25 and the drill 39 may be interrupted at very short intervals, due to the shape of the drill itself, but the inertia of the relay 37 is such that this relay remains excited even when contact 40 of switch 36 is open.
The operation of the device described would be the same if it were a question of controlling the possible breakage of a tap, instead of that of a drill.
