Versuch

Herbicides
The subject of the main patent is a mixture for combating undesirable plants, which is characterized in that it is an active ingredient of the formula
EMI1.1
contains, in which R, alkyl, alkenyl, substituted alkyl or alkenyl or aryl,
R. hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, haloalkyl or -alkenyl, alkoxyalkyl, furfuryl, cyanoalkyl or aryl and R3 are hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, haloalkyl or -alkenyl, cyanoalkyl or aryl or Rg and R3 are constituents of one optionally substituted heterocyclic ring.
It has now been found that certain groups of representatives of the compound class comprised by the above formula are particularly effective in herbicides.
The invention therefore provides a mixture for combating undesired plants, which is characterized in that it is a compound of the formula as the main active ingredient

The compounds can be prepared by the following process: Preparation of 2-bromo-ätllyl-N, N-diethyl thiol carbamate
A four-necked flask was fitted with a stirrer, thermometer, reflushing device and gas inlet tube. A solution of 7, 3 g (0, 10 mol) of diethylamine and 10, 1 g (0, 10 mol) of triethylamine in 150 cm3 of tert. Butyl alcohol was placed in the flask and then 10 g (0.17 mol) of carbonyl sulfide were passed into the amide solution with rapid stirring, the temperature being kept at 15-20 ° C. by cooling with ice. 56.4 g (0.30 mol) of 1,2-dibromo-ethane were then quickly added to this solution at 15 ° C.
The mixture was then slowly heated to 45 ° C. and held at 45-50 ° C. for 11H2 hours. The thin slurry was then heated to reflux, 125 cm3 of solvent was distilled off and the remaining slurry was cooled to room temperature, diluted with 200 cm3 of petroleum ether (b.p. 30-600 C) and successively with two 50 cm3 portions of 5% HCl and two 50 cm3 portions of water. The organic phase was then dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate and filtered and the filtrate concentrated on the steam bath. The remaining liquid was fractionated through an 18 "Podbielniak Heli-Grid fractionating column.
12.6 g (52.5 / o yield) of 2-bromo-ethyl-N, N-diethyl thiocarbamate, b.p. (10 mm): 139-140 ° C., nD = 1.5229 were obtained.
Analysis:
Calculated for C7Hl4BrNOS: N = 5.83 / o
Found: N = 5.97 / o.
The new thiol carbamates can be used as phytocides both before germination and after germination. They can be applied to the soil in the form of various preparations such as powders, sprays, casts, etc.
For example, a powder or dusting preparation can be put together by mixing about 50% of the thiol carbamate with 50% of diatomaceous earth. The amount of thiol carbamate can vary between 5 and 60 ouzo and other finely ground carriers such as filler earth, clay, talc, synthetic silica, nutshell flour, or ground limestone can be used.
A granular preparation can be obtained by spraying the thiol carbamate or a concentrated solution thereof onto a suitable granular carrier while it is stirred. The amount of carbamate can vary between 1 and 50 lo, depending on the type of wearer and the needs of the consumer. The carriers can consist of granulated clay, vermiculite, diatomaceous earth, sawdust or some other absorbent, coarse-grained material.
For example, a granular clay of which 95 id / o of the particles pass through a 40-mesh (Tyler) sieve but are retained by a 70-mesh (Tyler) sieve has been found suitable.
The thiol carbamate can be used in solution by dissolving about 0.5-4 kg in enough solvent to make a solution volume of about 3.5 liters. Suitable solvents are e.g. B. petroleum fractions such as kerosene and solvent naphtha, aromatic fractions of seal oil, aromatic cracked oils, acetone, benzene, xylene, toluene and isopropanol, methanol and the like. a.
Emulsifiable concentrates can be produced by adding a suitable emulsifier to the thiol carbamate or its solutions. For example, 2.7 kg of thiol carbamate, 0.45 kg of nonionic emulsifier, for example a polyhydric alcohol ether, can be added and diluted to 3.5 liters with kerosene. This mixture can easily be dispersed in water with gentle stirring. The concentration of the thiol carbamate can vary between about 0.45 kg and 2.7 kg per 3.5 liters.
Instead of a non-ionic emulsifier, a cationic emulsifier, such as. B. a quaternary ammonium salt, or an anionic emulsifier, e.g. B. a sulfonated) 1 or an ester of a polyhydric alcohol can be used. The amount of emulsifier required depends, as is known, on the type of solvent, the concentration of the thiol carbamate and the emulsifier used. Often a mixture of 2 emulsifiers, such as. B. a mixture of sorbitan monopalmitate and polyoxyethylene sorbitan monopalmitate can be used.
The solvent can also be one of the agents mentioned above for the preparation of the solutions.
The thiol carbamate can also be used as a wettable powder in an amount of about 1-50 ouzo with a suitable, finely ground carrier, such as. B. those mentioned for the production of pollinators are mixed into one preparation. To facilitate dispersion in water, a wetting agent is advantageously added to such preparations in an amount of about 0.1-10 / o of the preparation, depending on the requirements, the effectiveness of the wetting agent and the wettability of the carrier. These wetting agents can be of natural origin, such as. B. blood protein, or manufactured synthetically, such. B. Sodium Lauryl Sulphate.
If synthetic wetting agents are used, a combination with wetting agents of natural origin may be desirable, either for economic reasons or to improve the wetting and spraying properties.
The mentioned thiol carbamates have been extensively investigated as phytocides and, in particular, tested as phytocides before the weeds appeared. These last-mentioned phytocides are usually applied in such a way that a narrow band of the agent is applied over the middle of a row of seeds when a crop is planted or before the seeds sprout. If this phytocide is harmless to the seeds of the desired crop, but phytotoxic to the most common weed seeds or seedlings, the crop will grow in an almost weed-free environment.
The phytocide used before germination can of course also be spread over the whole field, but it is usually applied as a narrow band that covers the seed row and the rest of the weeds are controlled by various cultivation methods.
The thiol carbamates mentioned are also effective control agents for weeds that have already germinated, since they are not phytotoxic for a number of cultivated plants if they have already germinated.
Some of these thiol carbamates have a highly selective effect and can be used to destroy one type of plant while another type of plant remains practically unmolested.
The thiol carbamates are effective against a number of grassy and broad-leaved weed species, that is, against most commonly occurring weed species, while they have little effect on valuable crops such as corn and beans.
The preparations can only be applied to the surface of the floor or worked a few centimeters into it. The application is usually carried out in amounts of 0.5-22.5 kglha of the area to be treated. In certain cases up to 570 kg / ha can be used.
Field trials have shown that thiol carbamabe can also be used to control weeds in a number of important crops such as beans, sugar beets, table beets, soybeans, carrots, sweet and field maize, cabbage, cotton, flowers and ornamental shrubs, forage vegetables, leaf vegetables such as lettuce, Celery, garlic, fruit trees, vines, peanuts, peas, potatoes, strawberries, tomatoes and turf are applicable.
attempt
To carry out the following investigations, seeds were planted in 7.6 cm pots and shortly thereafter the pots were treated with the agent to be tested in pours of about 10 and 40 kg / ha. The pots were then placed in a greenhouse and watered at appropriate intervals and the germination and growth of the seeds compared to seeds planted under similar conditions to which no herbicide had been added. In each case, the germination (K) on the scale 0-100% and the growth (W) on the scale 0-10, based on the germinated seeds, were recorded. 100 or 10 therefore correspond to normal germination or normal growth.
