Electric watch The present invention relates to an electric watch comprising a movement and a battery housed in a case with a removable bottom, one of the poles of said battery being in contact with said bottom; this watch further comprises a contact member electrically connecting the other pole of the battery to the electric circuit of the movement.
It is known that, in electric watches of this type, it is necessary to protect the movement against the corrosive action of gaseous emanations or solid sprouts which the battery produces during its operation. For this purpose, it has already been proposed, for example, to have an intermediate base fixed to the middle part between the stack and the movement. But the presence of this back increases the thickness of the watch; in addition, this bottom must be crossed by said contact member which, to ensure an effective connection between the upper pole of the battery and the electrical circuit of the movement, must have a certain elasticity and be able to deform when the battery is placed in square.
The aim of the present invention is to create a watch of the type mentioned in which the movement is effectively protected against the emanations of the battery without the mobility of the contact member being able to constitute a source of leakage.
For this, in the watch which is the subject of the invention, said contact member is constituted by a thin elastic plate, in the form of a disc, fixed to the movement, extending between the latter and the battery and whose edge is pressed against a insulating annular seal carried by a fixed part in sealed contact with the bottom.
An embodiment of the electric watch, object of the present invention, is shown, by way of example, in the appended drawing, the single figure of which is an axial section. In the watch shown, a caseband-bezel 1 to which a lens 2 is tightly secured by means of a tension ring 3, and a back 4 screwed inside the caseband 1 and whose outer edge 5 compresses a seal 6 against the underside of said middle part, form a sealed case. A battery 7 is housed in the bottom 4.
It is held in place by a thin and resilient annular member 8, in the opening of which the stack 7 is engaged and the outer edge of which is elastically pressed into a circular groove 9 presented by the inner wall of the bottom 4. The face lower 10 of stack 7 is metallic; it constitutes one of its poles, which is in contact with the bottom 4.
The watch further comprises a movement 11, the lateral and lower faces of which are covered with an insulating cap 13 intended to prevent any untimely electrical contact between a part of said movement and a part of the case. The movement 11 carries a dial 12. It is secured to the case by an enlargement circle 14 engaged in the middle part 1. At its lower part, this circle has a shoulder 15 and a wall 16 limiting said shoulder to the outside and s 'extending lower than him.
When the back 4 is screwed to the middle 1, an annular seal 17, of circular profile, partially engaged in a groove 18 in the back, is compressed between the latter and the underside of the wall 16, thus ensuring contact. sealed between the enlargement circle 14 and the base 4, while the upper part of the circle 14 is then pressed against an inner rim 19 of the caseband 1.
The watch described comprises a third sealing gasket 20 of rectangular profile, made of an insulating material and carried by the enlarging circle 14. This gasket 20 is engaged by its outer edge in an annular inner groove.

21 made in the wall 16; its upper face is applied against the shoulder 15. To prevent the enlargement circle 14 from rotating with the back 4 when the latter is screwed into the caseband 1, a stud 22 projecting from the lateral face of the circle 14 is engaged in a groove 23 parallel to the axis of the watch, milled into the inner face of the caseband 1.
A metal hoop 24, the ends of which are engaged in housings made in the upper face of the enlargement circle 14, is in contact, via its middle part, with a part of the lateral face of the movement not covered by the insulating cap 13 By the rod 24, the circle 14, the caseband 1 and the base 4, the pole 10 of the battery is therefore electrically connected to the movement, which thus constitutes the ground to which the electric circuit can be connected. In order for the watch to receive electrical energy and be operated, the other pole of the battery must be connected to said circuit. For this, a thin elastic plate 25, having the shape of a disc, extends between the movement 11 and the stack 7.
This plate 25 has in its center a slightly convex part, which presses against the upper face 26 of the stack 7. The edge of the plate 25 is raised and presses against the lining 20 over its entire length, while the bosses 27, stamped in the plate 25 and resting against the insulating cap 13 of the movement 11, prevent this plate 25 from coming into contact with the movement and thereby causing a short circuit.
The plate 25 is fixed to the movement by screws 28 which are engaged in studs (not shown) isolated from the movement, and which pass through openings in the plate 25 and sleeves 29, which act as pillars holding the plate 25 at a suitable distance from movement. A thin ring 30 is interposed between the head of each of the screws 28 and the plate 25 and seals said openings.
The electrical circuit of the watch is naturally connected to the pads in which the screws 28 are engaged. Thus, by these screws 28 and the plate 25, the electrical contact between the upper pole of the battery and the electrical circuit of the movement is ensured, from that the bottom 4 is in place.
By examining the drawing, it can be seen that the cell is completely enclosed in an enclosure limited by the bottom 4, the enlargement circle 14 and the plate 25, all the joints between the parts limiting said enclosure being sealed by gaskets, of so that the movement 11, which is protected from dust and moisture coming from the outside by the gasket 6, is also protected against the emanations from the battery 7. The contact member 25 can obviously have all the power. elasticity desirable to ensure good contact with the cell, without the risk of leaks resulting therefrom.
When the caseback is unscrewed, for example to change the battery, the movement housing remains protected from external influences, thanks to the gasket 20. On the other hand, if it is necessary to release the movement 11 from the case, this operation does not take place. is not more complicated than with a usual movement, since the movement 11 and the enlargement circle 14 can be extracted from the caseband 1 as a single piece.
