Device for executing in particular embroidery patterns with using a sewing machine The present invention relates to a device for performing in particular embroidery patterns using a sewing machine,
comprising a frame consisting of two rings elastically engaged one in the other and intended to clamp a piece of fabric between them, a mechanism guiding this frame under the needle of the. sewing machine. It is known to use such a device to increase the precision of the embroidery work performed using a sewing machine.
However, due to the presence of the guide mechanism, the frame can no longer be easily oriented in all the desired directions according to the pattern that is being embroidered.
The present invention aims precisely to remedy this drawback. Its object is a device which is characterized in that the outer ring of the frame is fixed in an adjustable manner with respect to the guide mechanism.
The appended drawing represents, schematically and by way of example, an embodiment of the device according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view showing this device in section along I-I of FIG. 2 showing the device in plan.
Fig. 3 is a detail view of the frame.
The device shown in the drawing comprises, like the devices usually used by embroiderers, a frame consisting of two rings 1 and 2 elastically engaged one in the other and tines to clamp a piece of fabric between them.
The guiding mechanism of this frame relative to the sewing machine on which it is to be used includes, in the example shown, a rod 3 on which is engaged an arm 4 in the form of a stirrup at the end of which is azticulé, by means of an axis of al ,, âlculation 5, a .autre arm 6 carrying the outer ring 2 of the frame.
The connection between this arm 6 and the outer ring 2 is made in an adjustable manner by means of a clamp 7 which forms one end of the arm 6. This clamp 7 comprises two jaws 8 and 9 intended to be engaged in a groove 10, respectively 11, which each of the faces of the outer ring 2 presents.
A screw 12, engaged transversely in the jaws 8 and 9 of the clamp 7, screw whose threaded end carries a wing nut 13, allows the jaws 8 and 9 to be strongly tightened on either side of the outer ring. 2.
It suffices to loosen the wing nut 13 to allow the orientation of the frame 1, 2 to be changed with respect to the arm 6, the clamp 7 being able to be tightened at any point on the periphery of the ring 2.
To facilitate the establishment of the -frame in the chosen angular position after a change of orientation, marks 14 are shown on the frame, preferably on the ring 2. These marks 14 can be constituted by simple lines or dots. marked on the upper face of the ring 2, these marks being distributed, for example, at 900 from each other, at 1200, or with other intervals between them.
To more easily find the marks corresponding to a split into three, four, six or eight, for example, of the entire periphery of the frame, these marks 14 may have different shapes.
Fig. 3 shows on a larger scale the shape that can be given to the various marks, such as, for example, the mark 14a of circular shape and corresponding to a division into eight of the frame, the mark 14b in which we find the mark 14a surrounded a larger circle, this reference being able to correspond to the division into four of the circle, the reference point 14c, represented by a square, being able to correspond to the division into six,
and finally the mark 14d in which we find the square of the mark 14e surrounded by a square with a larger side and corresponding to the division into three. In a variant, these references could be indicated by numbers or possibly letters.
An index 15 is formed at the end of the jaw 8 so that each of the marks 14 can be brought with precision. facing this index 15 in each of the chosen angular positions of the frame with respect to the arm 6.
The frame shown in the drawing is assumed to be applied to a control device including the rod 3 which is driven in axial movements and in rotational movements on itself by this control device. The arm 4, carried by the rod 3, is fixed in a removable and adjustable manner along this rod 3.
This has for this purpose bores 16 with each of which can cooperate a pin 17 carried by a tubular part 18 forming one of the ends of the arm 4. This pin 17 is subjected to the action of a spring 19 tending to push it in the direction of the axis of the rod 3. Gripping means such as a knurled head 20 allow the pin 17 to be easily withdrawn from the bore 16 in which it is engaged, or to withdraw the arm 4 from rod 3, or to change its axial position on this rod 3.
In another variant, each marked angular position of the frame relative to the arm 6 could be marked by a notch in which the jaws 8 and 9 of the clamp 7 would automatically engage under the effect of their elastic clamping.
As a further variant, a third ring in which the rings 1 and 2 forming the frame would be capable of being arranged together in different angular positions, could be rigidly fixed to the guide mechanism, and therefore, in the particular case, to the arm. 6. The angular position change of the frame 1, 2 relative to the third ring would be done simply by disengaging the frame from this third ring and by its re-engagement therein in a different position. The rings 1 and 2 of the frame, instead of being circular, could, for example, be polygonal and even square.
Preferably, in the case where the ring 2 is made of a pressed or molded material, such as plastic, the marks 14 could be formed in relief or in hollow in the thickness of this ring 2 during its molding.
