Timepiece and method for its manufacture The present invention relates to a timepiece and a method for its manufacture.
This timepiece is characterized by the fact that the body of its case, made of plastic material, is in two parts, one of which, outer, consists of a thin shell partially enveloping the other, the surfaces of one of these two parts, located in contact with those of the other, being covered with a metallized layer.
The manufacturing process is characterized by the fact that a plastic box body is produced in two parts, one of which consists of an outer shell forming an envelope, and metallizes the surfaces of one of the two parts intended for be located in contact with those of the other.
The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
The figure is an axial section of part of a wristwatch case.
The watch case shown comprises a middle-bezel 1 forming the case body, in plastic material, made in two parts. 2 and 3. Part 2, on the outside, is a thin shell or cap, a few tenths of a millimeter thick. thickness, the inner surfaces of which, in contact with the part 3, are coated with a metallized layer 4. This cap 2 is obtained by molding or by injection. Once part 2 has been metallized, part 3 is molded directly inside cap 2.
The gearbox body 1 carries a notched glass 5 and a screwed back 6.
Thanks to the fact that the metallized layer 4 is protected by the cap 2, it is sheltered from air and friction and thus retains its shiny appearance.
As a variant, provision can be made for the case where the inner part 3 will be made separately, by molding or injection, then attached to the inside of the cap or envelope 2. It will be held there either by friction or by a catch. In this case, the metallized layer could be deposited on part 3 instead of being carried by cap 2.
The metallization will be carried out by any known process, for example by vacuum evaporation.
The present invention applies to sealed or not, round or shaped boxes in which the bottom is screwed or fixed in any other way.
