<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Timepiece motor The present invention relates to a timepiece motor, of the type claimed in the main patent. It therefore comprises a barrel, a barrel shaft, a bung and a spring, the inner end of the spring being hooked to the bung and its outer end to the barrel drum; the bung is connected to the barrel shaft by a friction coupling.
The object of the invention is to provide a motor of the aforementioned type, having the same advantages, but of simpler manufacture.
The motor according to the invention is characterized in that the plug, freely adjusted on a first bearing surface of the barrel shaft, is compressed and elastically deformed in the axial direction on its inner edge by a ring driven on said bearing surface of the shaft. barrel, and rests by its outer marginal part against the edge of a second bearing surface of the barrel shaft having a pitting, this second bearing having a diameter greater than that of the first bearing surface.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a sectional view of this embodiment.
Fig. 2 is an axial sectional view, on an enlarged scale, of a detail, taken along the line II-II of FIG. 3.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view, taken along the line III-III of FIG. 2.
The motor shown in the drawing comprises a barrel 1 closed by a cover 2, a barrel shaft 3, a plug 4 and a spring 5 spirally wound inside the barrel 1. The outer end of the spring 5 is hooked so usual, by means of a flange not shown, to the drum of the barrel 1, while its inner end is hooked to the bung 4, by means of a hook 6 which comes integrally with the bung 4.
The plug 4, instead of being integral with the barrel shaft 3, is connected to the latter by a friction coupling, as described below. The barrel shaft 3 has a first cylindrical bearing surface 7 followed by a second cylindrical bearing 8 of greater diameter than that of the bearing 7. The bearing 8 has a stitch 9 on its underside (FIG. 2). The edge 10 of this stitch 9 is rounded.
The plug 4 is obtained by cutting in flat steel, the thickness of which is preferably approximately equal to that of the spring 5. It is freely adjusted on the surface 7 of the barrel shaft 3. Plan view, it has the shape shown in FIG. 3:
from hook 6, it is circular over about a quarter of its circumference, then its radius gradually increases over a little less than three quarters of its circumference, a clearance 11 being left before hook 6. The minimum radius of the bung 4 , designated by r in FIG. 3, will be called the bung clearance radius hereafter. As for the maximum radius R of the bung 4, it is approximately equal to the distance separating the center of the bung from the outer edge of the hook 6, and the difference of these radii, R - r, is equal to the thickness of the spring 5 (fig. 3).
On the other hand, the radius of the bearing surface 8 of the barrel shaft is precisely equal to the clearance radius r of the plug 4.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
On the bearing surface 7 of the barrel shaft, on the side of the bung 4 opposite to the bearing surface 8, a steel ring 12 is driven out, having a cylindrical part 12a followed by a frustoconical part 12b, the upper edge 13 of which is rounded. . The radius of the cylindrical part 12a of the ring 12 is also equal to the clearance radius r of the plug 4.
When the plug 4 is in the free state, it is flat, but once compressed and axially deformed by the ring 12, it takes an approximately frustoconical shape, as shown in FIG. 2. The inner edge of the drain 4 is in fact pushed elastically upwards (fig. 2) by the rounded part 13 of the ring 12, while its outer marginal part rests against the rounded edge 10. of the puncture 9. The compression of the plug must be such that the maximum transmission moment corresponds to that of the total winding of the spring 5, in order to avoid overwinding this spring.
This compression can be adjusted by driving the ring 12 to a greater or lesser extent on the bearing surface 7 of the barrel shaft.
Due to the fact that the bearing surface 8 of the shaft 3 and the ring 12 have the same radius and that this radius is equal to the clearance radius r of the plug 4, it can be seen that the inner coil of the spring 5 is supported on its lateral section by parts 8 and 12, about a quarter turn. Thus, there is no risk that this coil will deform and assume, seen in axial section, a position not parallel to the axis of the barrel shaft 3.
The surfaces of the parts in contact are simply softened and smooth.
The motor described is specially intended to equip self-winding watches. Until now, the outer end of the spring was fixed to a flange resting against the drum of the barrel and able to slide against this drum to prevent any overvoltage of the spring. The motor described offers a more rational solution to this problem and has the following advantages a) The mounting of the barrel becomes as simple as that of a usual barrel without sliding flange.
b) Operation is absolutely safe, as the spring tension can be adjusted exactly at which the plug starts to slide on the barrel shaft. On the contrary, with sliding bridles, surprises are possible, because they are sometimes difficult to set up and often slip inadvertently. c) The slip moment remains practically constant, even after a very large number of armings and disarms, as does the number of development turns.
