Spool for thread of textile material. The present invention relates to a spool for thread of textile material. It aims to provide a very light spool, mechanically resistant, not soiling the thread which is rolled on it, and resistant to wear, capable, therefore, of providing extended service on textile machines such as: spinning, twisting, weaving, knitting, etc.
The coil forming the subject of the invention is characterized in that it is made of light metal, in that it is hollowed out and has, on the outside, circular transverse grooves and in that its external surface is anodically oxidized so that this surface does not soil the wire wound on it.
The appended drawing represents, by way of examples, five embodiments of the coil forming the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows the first embodiment of this coil, viewed in partial axial section.
Fig. 2 is a similar view of the second embodiment.
Fig. 3 is a similar view of the third embodiment.
Fig. 4 is also a similar view of the fourth embodiment.
Fig. 5 shows, also in axial section, partial, the fifth embodiment.
The coil shown in fig. 1 is made in one piece, from a section of tube of light metal, such as aluminum, by cold deformation of this metal without removing material. The body 1 of this coil has circular transverse grooves 2, obtained by cold embossing. Such grooves are intended to prevent the yarn from sliding along the spool and to guide this yarn so that it can be wound up evenly. These grooves also have the effect of increasing the mechanical resistance of the coil to forces acting radially on it.
This construction ensures extended use of the coil, since the metal, already work hardened and hardened by cold work, is further reinforced by ribs formed by the walls of the grooves. The outer surface of the spool is further anodically oxidized, which increases resistance to wear and atmospheric agents and ensures that the wire will not be soiled by the spool.
The coil shown in fig. 2 is obtained in the same way as the coil shown in fig. 1. This spool is cylindrical, being intended for a different use. It is distinguished by rounded edges 3, pushed inwards, and intended to further strengthen the mechanical resistance of the coil. These flanges also have the advantage of having smooth edges at the ends of the spool, which do not run the risk of damaging or cutting the wire.
The coil shown in fig. 3 has only one rim 3, arranged at the end of the coil with the largest diameter. This rim is made up differently from that of the coil shown in FIG. 2. It is curved with a larger radius and has a semi-circular section, the concavity of which is turned towards the axis of the coil. The purpose of such a rim is to make the reel more resistant to axial shocks that such a reel could undergo on certain textile machines:
it works as a shock absorber, absorbing these shocks and preventing the end of the spool from being damaged by them. Such a rim, stiffened by cold working, has increased elasticity and forms somewhat spring.
The coil shown in fig. 4 is intended to be threaded on a cylindrical axis with a diameter much smaller than its internal diameter. For this purpose, this coil is provided with washers 4 and 5 forming bearings, crimped at both ends of the body 1 of the coil.
The coil shown in fig. 5 constitutes a spindle for a spinning, twisting or similar machine. This coil is formed by two conical parts which are connected: an elongated part, almost cylindrical, carrying grooves 2 relatively spaced apart, and a shorter part, of strong taper, carrying grooves 6 closer together. The coil is closed at the end of said extended portion. The base of the body 1 of the coil has a cylindrical surface within which is driven im. 7 light alloy hub.
This hub has a groove 8, of semi-circular section, and a housing 9, intended to cooperate with a drive projection which the axis carrying the coil may have. This pin will penetrate through the hub and part of the most flared portion of the spool. The spool body is provided with an elongated opening 10 made along a generator of the high taper portion and allowing easy release of the spool from the spindle.
The coils described, which are made of light metal such as aluminum, are very light while being resistant and advantageously replace the cardboard and wooden coils used heretofore. Their construction allows them to provide extended wear and the anodic oxidation of their outer surface ensures that the wire will not be soiled or damaged by contact with the spool. Such a surface is regular, is easily cleaned and is resistant to atmospheric agents.
