-6- bzw. -7- bzw.
-8-sulfonsäure, die entsprechenden Sulfonsäureamide und Methylsulfone, 1- bzw. 2-Amino-5-oxynaphthalin-7-sulfonsäure, 1- bzw. 2-Phenylamino-5-oxynaphthalin-7- sulfonsäure, 2-Methylamino- bzw. 2-Äthylamino-5-oxy- naphthalin-7-sulfonsäure, 2-(4'-Oxy-3'-carboxy)-phenylamino-5-oxy- naphthalin-7-sulfonsäure, 2-Phenylamino-5-oxynaphthalin-7,4'-disulfonsäure, 2-Acetylamino- bzw.
2-Benzoylamino-5-oxy- naphthalin-7-sulfonsäure, 2-Amino- bzw. 2-Benzoylamino-8-oxynaphthalin- 6-sulfonsäure, 2-Methylamino- bzw. 2-Oxäthylamino-8- oxynaphthalin-6-sulfonsäure, 1-Amino-8-oxynaphthalin-4-sulfonsäure, 1-Amino-8-oxynaphthalin-2,4-disulfonsäure und 1-Amino- bzw. 2-Butylamino-8-oxynaphthalin- _ 3;

Process for the production of polyazo dyes In the patent specification No. 310250 a process for the production of polyazo dyes is described ben, which consists in that 1 mol of the tetrazo compound from a 4,4'-diamino-1,1'-diphenyl der composition
EMI0001.0008
where x is -OH, -OCHS, -OCZH5, -OCH2 -COOH or -COOH,
with 2 moles of an aminoazo compound of the composition
EMI0001.0017
wherein R is hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl, and the nucleus A can carry further substituents with the exception of the carboxyl group, or
simultaneously or in any order with 1 mole of such an aminoazo compound and 1 mole of one of these different aminoazo compounds of the same general composition, or in any order with 1 mole of such an aminoazo compound and 1 mole of any other azo component containing one or more groups capable of forming metal complexes clutch.
It has now been found that valuable polyazo dyes are also obtained if, in the process described above, the aminoazo compound of the composition (II) is replaced by an aminoazo compound of the composition
EMI0001.0039
replaced, in which R 'denotes alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl, and the nucleus E can carry further substituents.
The 4,4'-diamino-1,1'-diphenyls of the composition (I), which are suitable for the synthesis of the polyazo dyes according to the present process, are the same as those described in Patent No. 310250.
The aminoazo compounds of the composition (III) are prepared by coupling diazotized 2-amino-1-oxybenzene-6-carboxylic acids with derivatives of 2-amino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid substituted on the nitrogen atom in an acidic medium.
As 2-amino-1-oxybenzene-6-carboxylic acids, for example, 2-amino-1-oxybenzene-6-carboxylic acid itself, 2-amino-1-oxy-6-carboxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid, 2-Amino-1-oxy-4-methyl-sulfonylbenzene-6-carboxylic acid, 2-Amino-1-oxy-6-carbo-oxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid amide and its methylated, ethylated, on the sulfamide nitrogen
dimethylated and diethylated derivatives, 2-amino-1-oxy-6-carboxybenzol-4-sulfonic acid phenylamide and the halogenated, alkylated, alkoxylated compounds and other substituted derivatives such as 2-amino-1-oxy-6 in the nucleus of the phenylamide group -carboxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid - (3'- carboxy - 4 '- oxy) - phenylamide,
also 2-amino-1-oxy-4-nitrobenzene-6-carboxylic acid and 2-amino-1-oxy-4-chlorobenzene-6-carboxylic acid. Suitable substituents on the nitrogen atom of 2-amino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid are primarily alkyl and cycloalkyl radicals such as methyl, ethyl, propyl, oxethyl and cyclohexyl, mononuclear aryl radicals such as phenyl,
(2'- or 3'- or 4'-methyl) -phenyl, (3'- or 4'-chloro) -phenyl, (4'-amino) -phenyl, (4'-carboxy) -phenyl , (3'-carboxy-4'-oxy) -phenyl, (3'- or 4'-sulfo) -phenyl, (3'- or 4'-sulfamido) -phenyl, also two pithy aryl radicals like (4 "-Amino) -1 ', 1" -diphenyl and aralkyl radicals such as benzyl.
The new polyazo dyes can have either a symmetrical or an asymmetrical structure; for the production of asymmetrical products, the tetrazotized 4,4'-diamino-1,1'-diphenyl (I) is coupled, for example, with two different aminoazo compounds of the composition (III).
However, it is also possible to obtain unsymmetrical polyazo dyes if 1 mol of tetrazotized (I) is coupled with 1 mol of (11I) and 1 mol of any other azo component containing one or more groups capable of forming metal complexes.
Particularly suitable azo components of this type are, for example, 1-oxybenzene-2-carboxylic acid, 1-oxy-6-methylbenzene-2-carboxylic acid, 1-oxynaphthalene-2-carboxylic acid, 2-oxynaphthalene-3-carboxylic acid, 1-oxynaphthalene-4- sulfonic acid, 1-oxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid amide, 2-oxynaphthalene, 2-oxynaphthalene-4- or -6- or -7- or
-8-sulfonic acid, the corresponding sulfonic acid amides and methyl sulfones, 1- or 2-amino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid, 1- or 2-phenylamino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid, 2-methylamino and 2 Ethylamino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid, 2- (4'-oxy-3'-carboxy) -phenylamino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid, 2-phenylamino-5-oxynaphthalene-7.4 '-disulfonic acid, 2-acetylamino or
2-Benzoylamino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid, 2-amino or 2-benzoylamino-8-oxynaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid, 2-methylamino or 2-oxethylamino-8-oxynaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid, 1-amino-8-oxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid, 1-amino-8-oxynaphthalene-2,4-disulfonic acid and 1-amino- or 2-butylamino-8-oxynaphthalene-3;
6-disulfonic acid, also compounds which couple in the vicinity of an enolizable keto group, for example 5-pyrazolones, acyl acetic acid amides, acyl acyl aryl amides, acyl acetic acid alkylamides, malonic acid derivatives, barbituric acid derivatives, acetylacetone, benzoylacetone,
4-oxy-1-alkylquinolones and dioxyquinoline.
Of the 5-pyrazolones, 3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone-3'- or 4'-sulfonic acid amide deserve to be mentioned in particular , 1- (3'- or 4'-methylsulfonyl) -phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 1- (3'- or 4'-nitro) -phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 1- ( 3'- or 4'-chloro) -phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone and 1- (2 ', 5'-dichloro) -phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone. Of particular importance, however, are the acyl acetic arylamides,
in particular acetoacetylaminobenzene and its derivatives substituted on the benzene nucleus by halogen atoms, amino, nitro, alkylsulphonyl, sulphonic acid, sulphonic acid amide, carboxylic acid and / or azo groups, furthermore optionally further substituted 1-acetoacetylaminonaphthalins, 2- Acetoacetylaminonaphthalenes,
the 1-acetoacetylaminonaphthalene mono- and disulfonic acids, and the 2-acetoacetylaminonaphthalene mono- and disulfonic acids.
The coupling of 1 mole of the tetrazo compound from 4,4'-diamino-1,1'-diphenyl (1) with 2 moles of the aminoazo compound (III) to form symmetrical dyes takes place simultaneously.
If asymmetrical dyes are built up, the tetrazo compound from (I) can either be coupled first with 1 mol of an aminoazo compound (III) and then with 1 mol of an aminoazo compound (III) different from the first, or the tetrazo can be combined - compound first with 1 mol (III) and then with 1 mol of any other azo component,
the latter can also be brought to the coupling in the first place. It is also possible to obtain valuable products by simultaneous coupling of the tetrazo compound with a mixture of two different aminoazo compounds (I11). The first coupling usually takes place fairly quickly and is preferably carried out in a sodium carbonate-alkaline medium.
The resulting intermediate compound is either isolated or used in solution without any special work-up. To accelerate the second coupling, it is advantageous to add an organic tertiary base, such as pyridine, quinoline or a technical-grade pyridine base mixture, to the reaction solution. The polyazo dyes formed are - if necessary - salted out of the reaction solution, then filtered off and dried.
The dyes are easily soluble in water and can be colored both by a single bath and by a copper plating process. Post-treatment with a polyalkylene polyamine in the presence of a copper salt is particularly valuable.
The following examples illustrate the invention; here the parts mean parts by weight, and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. The products listed in the table are equal to those described in the examples carried out.
Example 1 24.4 parts 4,4'-diamino-3,3'-dimethoxy-1,1'-diphenyl are tetrazotized in 150 parts of water and 150 parts of ice. The tetrazo solution is added at 0-2 with an alkaline solution of 55,
9 parts of the monoazo compound obtainable by acidic coupling of diazotized 2-amino-1-oxy-6-carboxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid with 2-phenylamino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid and 10 parts of sodium carbonate in 1000 parts of water. After adding a solution of 50 parts of sodium carbonate in 250 parts of what water to the reaction mass, the half-sided coupling takes place in a short time, and the intermediate compound formed falls out completely.
As soon as the tetrazo compound has completely disappeared, the reaction mass is combined with a solution of 15.2 parts of 2-oxynaphthalene, 4 parts of sodium hydroxide and 300 parts of water. After several hours of stirring, the formation of the trisazo dye is complete; it is precipitated from the coupling compound with sodium chloride and then filtered off. The dye is purified by dissolving, reprecipitated and filtered off and finally dried.
It is a dark powder which dissolves in water with a dark blue color and dyes cotton and fibers made from regenerated cellulose in navy blue tones. By treating with copper sulphate in a one or two bath process, the dyeings are very washable, sweatproof and extremely lightfast.
Example 2 33.2 parts of 4,4'-diamino-3,3'-dicarboxymethoxy-1,1-diphenyl are tetrazotized in 150 parts of water and 150 parts of ice. A solution of 31.5 parts of 1-phenylamino-8-oxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid and 10 parts of sodium carbonate in 600 parts of water is added to the tetrazo solution at 0-2. Then sprinkle 68 parts of solid sodium bicarbonate in small portions into the coupling compound.
After prolonged stirring, the intermediate compound has formed completely and the tetrazo compound has disappeared. For the suspension of the inter mediate compound, a solution of 55.9 parts is now obtained by acid coupling of diazotized 2-amino-1-oxy-6-carboxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid with 2-phenylamino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid Lichen monoazo compound, 40 parts of sodium carbonate and 100 parts of pyridine in 1000 parts of water.
After several hours of stirring at 0-2, the formation of the trisazo dye is complete; it is precipitated from the coupling compound with sodium chloride and filtered off. The dye is purified by dissolving, reprecipitated and filtered off and finally dried. It is a dark powder that dissolves in water with a blue color and dyes cotton and fibers made from regenerated cellulose in blue-gray tones. By treating with copper sulphate in a one or two bath process, the dyeings are very wash, sweat and lightfast.
Example 3 24.4 parts of 4,4'-diamino-3,3'-dimethoxy-1,1'-diphenyl are tetrazotized in 150 parts of water and 150 parts of ice; the tetrazo solution is carried in the presence of pyridine into a solution of 111.8 parts which is obtained by acidic coupling of diazotized 2-amino-1-oxy-6-carboxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid with 2-phenylarnino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid - monoazo connection,
300 parts of 25% ammonia and 150 parts of water. The tetrakisazo dye thus obtained is precipitated from the coupling material with sodium chloride and filtered off. The dye is purified by dissolving it, precipitated again, filtered off and finally dried. It is a dark powder that dissolves in water with a blue color and dyes cotton and regenerated cellulose fibers in navy blue tones. The coppered dyeings have excellent fastness properties.
Example 4 27.2 parts of 4,4'-diamino-1,1'-diphenyl-3,3'-dicarboxylic acid are tetrazotized in 250 parts of water. A neutral solution of 17.7 parts of acetoacetyl-aminobenzene in 200 parts of water is added to the tetrazo solution and 68 parts of solid sodium bicarbonate are sprinkled in small portions. After more hours of stirring at 0-2, the formation of the inter mediate compound is complete.
An ice-cold solution of 55.9 parts of 2-amino-1-oxy-6-carboxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid with 2-phenylamino-5-oxynaphthalene-7 is then added to the solution of the intermediate compound -sulfonic acid available monoazo compound in 400 parts of 25% ammonia, 200 parts of pyridine and 600 parts of water.
The trisazo dye formed precipitates out completely and is filtered off. The dye is cleaned by dissolving, precipitated again, filtered off and finally dried. It is a dark powder that dissolves in water in a purple-red color and dyes cotton and fibers made from regenerated cellulose in purple-red tones. If the dyeings are post-treated with copper salts in a one or two bath process, the neutral gray tones that are washable, sweat-proof and lightfast are obtained.
The following table shows further examples. The coupling of the 4,4'-diamino-1,1'-diphenyl of the composition (1) with the two azo components takes place according to one of the procedures recorded in Examples 1-4.
The first coupling is preferably carried out in a sodium carbonate-alkaline agent, the second optionally with the addition of, for example, pyridine, quinoline or a technical pyridine base mixture. If both couplings are carried out at the same time, an organic tertiary base is advantageously added to the coupling compound at the beginning to accelerate the reaction.
