Description

Toothed nut and its tightening key The present invention relates to a toothed nut and its tightening key, characterized by the fact that the nut has a circular groove on its outer periphery, above its toothing and by the fact that the key has a socket intended to engage removably on the nut, provided with an operating member and the edge of which has toothing corresponding to that of the nut, the teeth of this toothing having internally light nozzles which fit freely in the aforementioned groove, but exert friction on the outer periphery of the nut,

when moving the sleeve along it.

The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the present invention.

Fig. 1 is an elevational view thereof and FIG. 2 an axial vertical section.

A designates a threaded stud fixed definitively in part B and onto which is screwed or unscrewed the nut 1 intended to tighten part C on B.

This nut has, at its lower part, an outer flange in which a toothing 2 is cut out. Above this, a circular groove 3 is formed in the outer periphery of the nut.

The nut is tightened or loosened by means of an independent wrench which comprises a socket intended to engage removably on the nut; this socket is provided with a handle 5 and, on its edge, has teeth 6 corresponding to that of the nut. The teeth of this set of teeth carry, inside, light beaks 7 .obtenus, for example, by hammering the inner face of the tooth. These jaws are dimensioned so as to move freely in the groove 3 when engaged therein, but to exert a friction on the remainder of the outer periphery of the nut when the sleeve is moved along it. .

When you want to tighten or loosen the nut, you engage the sleeve on it as shown in fig. 1 and 2, by exerting sufficient pressure on it from top to bottom to overcome the friction of the nozzles around the periphery of the nut; these nozzles are thus brought into the groove 3; the bushing can then be freely rotated on the nut, so as to bring the lever 5 to its best position for tightening or loosening; then a new pressure is exerted from top to bottom on the sleeve to bring the notches 6 and 2 into engagement.

From this moment, the sleeve and the nut can be turned until the handle 5 is stopped by any obstacle; then, by pulling from the bottom up, the jaws 7 are brought into the groove 3, which allows the socket to return to its starting position; then 'the two teeth 6 and 2 are put into engagement and a new rotation is carried out. When the operation is completely finished, the sleeve can be separated from the nut by pulling vigorously from the bottom up, on the first.
